Dark! Oh, how I love you.

I am just in love with dark themed sets, dark/dark tank, a couple necro mm, dark/dark blaster, dark troller....well you get the idea.

Its not the most powerful set and frankly I think dark should be a mix of negative energy and cold dmg, but, I digress.

But, I want to branch out into other ATs, sets, etc what are some of your toons or builds you have had.

Was thinking of making a Dark/Invul brute next but I'm open to suggestions.

My friend used to play a Dark/Time corruptor and he claimed it was the best thing since sliced bread.

 

And then he quit playing.

 

But that's probably not because of his corruptor.

Yeah I've been thinking about making a corr for awhile, my 1st toon of live was a dark/dark corr so maybe or a necro/time mm...dammit decisions...

 

Or maybe they are still playing but just have you on hide....?😜

Dark Time corruptor is interesting. Holds, slows, heals, debuffs, a snipe and tentacles. It kind of has it all!

I have an Ice/Dark troller thats an aoe monster, fire I'm sure would be just as fun.

I think when I ding 50 on my dark/dark/soul blaster I will have like 4 tentacle attacks.

I had so much fun with my Dark/Dark tanker, I made a ninja/dark stalker and a dark/dark defender.

 

The only issue I have is that the coloring of some of the powers in some powersets is more dirty grey than dark darkness.

Oh how did you survive dark dark tank leveling? Soo many toggles, so much end loss. I couldn't do it. Only thing I could think was that you have to know your enemies and turn off the toggles that you don't need for them.

 

That and purple sets and such.

I'd have to look at my build, but I don't think end was much of a problem, and I ran everything all the time.

Running ten toggles, six from Dark, three from leadership, and also hover.  End consumption is 2.13% per second, and recovery is 3.66% per second. Also have Panacea and Perf Shifter procs for bonus end.

 

Specifically for leveling, I used the P2W amplifiers and the temp power for end recovery. I also went straight into set IO's all the way up.

Lvl 35 is Dark Consumption so that helps alot.

I think that was the biggest issue. I had not sets and I don't think I got to 35.... May have to dust that character off again.

I've become rather fond of my ElecMelee/Dark Armor brute. To help with running the toggles, I'm trying to keep her at least somewhat slotted, but I have been pleasantly surprised just how much fun she is to play.

 

My fire/dark troller is quite a bit of fun as well; it can be played rather aggressively once you get it slotted up.

I normally play controllers.  I want control and healing, so dominators and defenders only do half.  But controllers lack damage.

 

But a dark defender gets an aoe stun and an aoe fear plus healing plus damage.   A dark/dark defender gets an extra aoe stun.

I'm considering backburner-ing my Warshade on the grounds that I'm not having fun playing him, but I do really like the costumes and backstory, so I might recycle them into a dark something. Maybe a brute?

 

1) How is dark/dark on a brute?
2) Can you color Dark to get that kind of ominous purple nictus glow?

As far as Dark goes, I have a Dark.... something scrapper.  Or is she a brute.  Damn this Friday afternoon hits my brain HARD.  Anyways, she's awesome.  Hits like a truck. Debuffs everything.  Never has any endurance.

 

I should play her sometime.

Oh, for my tanker I switched from dark/dark to rad/dark.  Rad does not quite have everything dark has for defense but it does not have END problems.  I just use the dark rad effects for looks.

This is my Dark/Invul Brute.  Still have in the "alt garage" fully kitted out and ready to go.  It is very very, did I say very? tough!  High recharge provides an incredible synergy on Dark Invul, and the way the sets work together is magic to begin with.
