You run benchmarks a couple times to make sure your system performance falls in a range you define as "acceptable". And for situations where the Mark I Eyeball is simply incapable of delivering meaningful data. Everything beyond that is simply masturbatory impulse. And you know what they say about going blind... If you want to be godlike, pick anything. If you want to be GOD, pick a TANK!

I've built two systems, one with an AMD CPU (mine) and one with an Intel CPU (friend). From other sources it seems like sticking with Win 10 might be slightly better (especially for the AMD system), but I haven't found any compelling evidence that one is clearly superior.
