To be honest? I enjoyed red side, until they changed where you first zone in and what missions you do in Mercy. i rather enjoyed it the way it was, I really don't understand why it needed to change. I just can't get passed Mercy to even get to the rest of the content. So I simply never play Red side. And yes, I know, I can always switch back and forth, nah...if I am playing a Villain, it stays a villain unless I need something from Blue side and vice versa. Just the way I am programmed I guess.

There's nothing you can do about where you first zone into Mercy Island, but if you can make Kalinda or Matthew Burke your first contact and do their missions just like you could back in Issue 7.

Yeah, I would be completely fine with that. Location isn't so much the issue as the story line/content. But yeah, that would be awesome.

Pretty sure you can already do that though, just the missions are...different. You lose out on some of the ones I really enjoyed, like the Snake missions. If memory serves that is.

I'm glad you brought that up, my curiosity got the better of me. So I decided to roll a Villain and went old school Jail Breakout. Sure enough, it gave me a choice. i picked my favorite, Kalinda, and although the missions were out of order like crazy (which still irks me) it still works...I just have to get passed the change of view really. I still miss the old spawn point, the hunting missions and what-not...but, at least the core is still there.

It was part of a total revamp of the starting experience for the free-to-play launch, also including the Galaxy tutorial, DFB [1], Shining Stars/whatever the redside version is arcs, etc. I don't know why they made these starting arcs so unlike the rest of the game, and even with the stuff that was replaced being 6-7 years old by that time I think DFB and the graphics upgrade for Atlas [2] are the only good things to come of it [3], but...

[1] Also available redside, even if I think I've seen more Doc Q TFs forming, outside its turn as the WST, than redside DFBs...

[2] And even there I miss Rikti invasions in Atlas.

[3] With special dislike for the Mercy revamp in particular; after doing Lt. Harris' arc on my main/badger I swore off making new villains.

TBH paragon city is just more fun for me most of the time. So most of my villains just end up as really edgy vigilantes so I can run round a decently lit urban environment…

Lt. Harris is cringe af, and Dr. Graves (the Redside Shining Stars) is just a whiny crybaby, but I did enjoy the other new Mercy arcs.

Personally was not a huge fan of Dr. Graves. And it's not the story, it's more his...personality and the running back and forth from Mercy to Port Oaks to Cap and back to Mercy. Way too much running around. I also wasn't a big fan of the new locations for Kalinda's mission doors and the missing Snake Hunt in the Northern part of Mercy. Not to mention, the mission you used to get to rob the casino that I didn't see my latest time around. I actually liked that mission and now, unless it has been moved, is just not there anymore. Although some of the missions are the same, for me, it's lost the feel it once had. I hate when Devs change stuff like that. Kind of like when they changed the Hollows...was not a fan and never will be.

I agree. The old version of Mercy was my preference as well.

Data point for "most annoying contacts for a faction" - I've done 6 straight missions for Marisel Valenzuela.  She still hasn't allowed me to begin her arc.  There is no redside contact that makes you jump through that many hoops.

Her story arc, Rise of the Vampyrii, is shared by Jose Escalante.  If you've done it for him, she won't have an arc.

If you haven't done it, just Abandon Mission and talk to her again.

I actually miss when Stalkers, Brutes, Doms, Masterminds and Corruptors were strictly Red side. Not really a big fan of anybody can go anywhere and play as anything. I guess I am just stuck in the old ways.

I'll keep my hero Stalkers and rogue Defenders, thanks.

Lol, I know how to abandon missions to fetch other missions.  And no I haven't done the other arc.

Rogue Defenders, Hero Stalkers....those two phrases just don't even go together, lol.

"She is a Defender of Truth, Justice and the Criminal way!"

"Well are you not going to arrest him? You caught him red handed stalking me!" "Sorry, ma'am, he's a Hero, there is nothing we can do about it. If only he were a Villain instead..."

Hey every hero's got a hobby.

Besides, who else is going to save you in the nick of time from that masked shower-knife killer? Only Binocular Man, who saw what was going on, that's who!

OMG same. I loved the old hollows... I remember it being a big, challenging, scary place to adventure. Now it's just... meh.

I wasn't going to say it, but I suppose I have to. Not everyone is cut out to be a villain.

And 3 pages of this thread demonstrate it. Apparently, you so-called heroes prefer things to be bright and cheerful (and easy), yet are too frail to take on a bit of darkness to prove your ideals right. even doing a bit of legwork to run around Mercy (much less Nerva or navigating the 3D maze of Grandville) or heck even crossing zones seem too much work for you lot. It wasn't mentioned here, but I can guess how you all feel about caves and CoT torches. In such a case, I would hesitate to recommend Dobb's arc with caves filled with webs that trap you while an Arachnoid debuffs you.

But yeah, you're heroes. Stay where it's bright and safe, where the civilians you supposedly protect are constantly being mugged in broad daylight. Keep up the good work.

It was so damn scary, people would literally use Hover to get across the entire map to get to their mission location than run the distance, it was a nightmare! I', sure you remember!  😄

I totally did that a few times XD

And there was no medical transporter in zone, so death often meant running all the way back from Atlas Park...

The sheer amount of debt I collected in the Hollows would haunt me for many levels after 😅
