Back Alley Brawler is HUGE!

Recommended Posts

Why is Back Alley Brawler so enormous?

From everything I have read about the game, comics, books, etc. He is supposed to be the one hero who has no actual superpowers.

Why is his character so freakishly large?

His character model dwarfs both Statesman and Citadel.

We're still waiting on the patch fix for that gigantism glitch.

Real Life as an MMO sucks.  The dev team never interacts with the playerbase, the rules are often wonky, and I still haven't figured out the end game content.

I played this tabletop RPG back in the day called Heroes Unlimited by Palladium Games. This particular GM had us roll for powers when we made our characters instead of choosing them ourselves, and everyone was having a great time on the random tables coming up with weird powers and concepts. Until it's my turn. Of course I rolled horrible and got no powers at all... in a superhero game... where everyone has POWERS. So I dumped all my stats in strength and endurance and made this HUGE buffed-out hillbilly that was insanely strong. I ended up being one of the most powerful heroes on the team, though I was certainly the dumbest 🤪 I took great pleasure in just ripping doors apart and ramming through walls when the other characters would try and come up with elaborate plans and uses for their so-called "powers" ... and I will always feel a certain kinship to BAB because of that 😊

Viagra.

This left me snickering as I remembered the story about the Navy conducting a study on the effects of Viagra on healthy individuals. They gave regular doses of Viagra to a selected population of sailors and Marines over a six-month period, but they were stymied about how to analyze the results. The sailors all reported increased sexual stamina and performance, while the Marines just got taller.

I'm not a Marine and I felt that burn.

Think of the character the "Mountain" on Game of Thrones. Some humans are incredible tall and massive.

Also, it's a video game. 😉

And the third actor who plays him - Hafthor J. Bjornsson - is an actual beast, standing at nearly 7 feet tall and weighs over 400 lbs. And his brothers are even bigger. The Bjornsson family has Jotun blood somewhere in their background. Here's a photo of him standing next to Lena Hadley (Cersei) who is by no means short herself.

I love Palladium games. A very underrated company.

What they don't tell you but is quite obvious in this image:  The average height in Paragon City is about 4.5 feet tall.  BAB is tall, but not as freakishly so as this picture suggests.  Instead, everyone else is just freakishly small.

Oh no, he's quite enormous. Track him down in Atlas Park with a max-height character and see for yourself.

Why is he so big? Why, he's swollen with LEADERSHIP

And if you do happen to run into a dev, nobody will ever believe you. You’ll be labeled as crazy.
