I always think of the blue button as a "Get out of jail free" card.

Go ahead and jump into that crowd of purples; if you win, yay! If things go south, hit the pretty button!

Take Frostfire for example. Most folks are familiar with that mission.
The mission objective is simple: Defeat Frostfire.

Now to get to him, all you have to do is destroy an altar, and defeat Keystone and his few minions around him. Then you can run right by all those goons and go direct to frostfire, mash a luck, a break free, and a red, and kill him, and the mission is over.

Whoa whoa whoa!  You left out playing on the ice slides!  That's the best part of that mission.

Indeed?  Huh.  Learn something new every day.

Why such a substantial amount?  Are we being penalized because they're so likeable an opponent group that we might monopolize our time with them?  (Yeah, I'm in a "glass half empty" moment.)

My favorite character is my Ice/Willpower sentinel.  Freaks have a strong Cold Resistance.

I am not sending them invitations to my birthday party.

Get busy living... or get busy dying.  That's goddamn right.

Only the first 132 times. After that, I kind of got over it.

Unless you set the rules in advance, why not leave?
That same button appears for everyone.

As stated earlier, there will be another mission.  For me, the fun isn't trying to find that last enemy to steamroll, it's fighting to clear mission objectives.

Mission finished?  Leave and start another.  Whatever XP is to be gained by clearing the last mission map can be gained fighting to achieve new mission objectives and there is more to be had by finishing more missions than whatever is to be had by clearing scraps after the objectives are done.

I do believe in waiting for people before starting the next mission, but clearing every map just because?  I mean, sure, if that's what the team wants, but I feel like it is a team decision to make, not one individual.  If I like the team enough, it's not an intolerable burden to bear.  If not?  I can always leave.

And I am very casual.  I am not about speed-running missions.  I don't have issues with the team if they want to have the stealth-porter scout the next objective, bring the team in, blitzkrieg the objective, and repeat.  I am much less a fan of just running through everything and ignoring attacks to reach a goal, however.
Toons get caught up and I don't like letting people get killed, or dying, because people can't be bothered to work through to an objective or wait for some slower players to catch up.

Mobs are an endangered species and missions are a limited resource!

In seriousness though the time lost tracking mobs is a debuff to fun. Grab a fresh mission and lets roll.

Also mission complete is a bonus. Lets try to hit as many of those as we can.

I follow this, unless I'm about to get defeated, then I'll exit.

I love ya, @Ukase, but really?? You exit rather than being defeated??? From others I'd expect to see a strip of yellow running down their backs, but not you!!! Debt is so small and burns off so quickly... why? Why, man, WHY???   😉

If I don't die, or teammates don't die, it's just a ho hum mission. Of course, I do like a challenge. Nothing makes be feel more like a hero than facing death head on and saving either myself or teammates from it's gaping, ever hungry maw.

Because I hate to put toggles back on. It seems to take forever. So annoying. Cowardice doesn't enter into it. Laziness does! Damn toggles. If I thought I could get done with objectives without them as fast as I do now, I wouldn't even take those powers, lol. But experience has taught me I need them.

While I certainly agree that following the leader is generally good advice, when someone tells other people how they should be playing, it rarely goes over well.

XP is literally endless. Staying for extra time in the mission only means delaying getting the mission reward. XP from mobs? There are mobs in the next mission that will give XP too.

I think a lot of it comes down to "team flow" - if people are defeating mobs swiftly and working together effectively, those enemies will be defeated in short order and you'll be onto the next mission before you know it.  In my experience, problems only arise when everyone leaves, save for 1 or 2 people holding up the group, or if the team as a whole is struggling with the current number of enemies or their level.  Honestly, just please speak up if you're on a team and aren't sure how to proceed...

Remember how bad it was when there was no aggro cap. Tanks pulling the whole map, team waiting 10+ minutes at the beginning. Bits and pieces remaining. Just absolutely miserable for anyone but the tank.

How about we let people play how they like without lecturing them how they like to play is the incorrect way? Can we try that?

You want to stay? Great! Have fun!

You want to go? Great! Have fun!

Team members disagree? Find new team members who like to play the same way as you do.

For the record, and feel free to quote me here, but the only thing that I “have” to do is put in my password when I log in. After that everything else is 100% my decision. If I want to stay or go, team or solo, farm or yolo, I’ll do whatever I damn well please. Long as I’m not breaking any rules (and I’m not) if you don’t like it than you and anyone else who doesn’t like it can kiss me where the good lord split me. (Not meaning anyone specifically by “you”, speaking rhetorically here for context.)

tldr - you do your thing, I do mine. If that involves us not teaming together I’m perfectly fine with that. I would sooner play entirely by myself than be held to the standards of  entirely random strangers in a video game.
