"Hardcore" Ruleset for CoX

1. Death is Permanent
2. No Auction House
3. Can Use University
4. If you start a fight you must finish the fight, no running away. (E.g. You initiate combat with a mob by pressing a power that inflicts damage to a mob)
5. No Prior Bankrolling via Email
6. Only 1 Inspiration of each type allowed except Reds/Yellows (Too easy to stack purples and not die)
7. No START Vendor Bonuses at all (including the given bonus Athletic Run and Jetpack)
8. Cannot set missions to -1, After acquiring all SO's in your powers must shift to +1
9. No Revive Powers at all, if you see the Death Textbox, you are dead.

FTR, I'm soloing it at +3x8 on a Scrapper. The Wiki stating it as challenging content is not wrong.

This, sadly, needs clarification. 
Since I can use University, odds are around 25 or so, I'd use common IOs or even sets if I'm lucky enough to get the proper drops. So, can we use converters if they're earned - via merits? 

What about hami-os in the 47 and up range? Or Titan-os, even?

If you've completed at least 3 Sets or so you can probably test your limits by +2'ing the missions.

I find it odd when someone posts something in a very matter-of-fact way, without couching it, or even providing a modicum of "flavor text", then reacts condescendingly to others who point that out.  Regardless, you play how you want, I'll play how I want, (assuming no violation of the ToS/RoC), and I'll continue to provide my oh-so-valuable commentary!

Which power sets?   Some of my chars can run thru it pretty easily, but it was rough for others.

The Rules for the Iron Man is as follows

 

1. Must be a newly created character.

2. Cannot be any of the following AT’s: Brute, Tank, Scrapper, Sentinel.

3. No Power Leveling or teaming with any other live player unless they are also participating in the challenge.

4. May only purchase upgrades (inspirations and enhancements) with money earned by doing missions or by own means.

5. If your character dies for any reason they are to be deleted immediately.

6. No Supergroup invites will be accepted unless by other Iron Man challenge participants.

7. You must try to at least level up once per stream on the challenge.

8. No P2W items are allowed, only the items you get from creation.

Best I got was into the 40s.

Also, whenever your character takes a single hit that does more than 50% damage you must hit yourself in the foot with a hammer.  No shoes.  Medium force okay.

Actually, given that the merit vendor isn't prohibited, this is really just an expensive way to play. 
I could just snag merits, which is easy enough to do with all the GM hunts, and really only suffer the first 10-15 levels - which go by quickly. 

There needs to be more restrictions. 
Just use what drops, and nothing else. No Merit vendor, no AH, no AE, no teaming. 

Then you're doing it hard core.

Claws/sr. I'm not all T4 yet. Claws damage makes it a chore. Multiple EBs in a single mob is a bit of an ask.

Instead, lets make this a drinking game.

 

- Every time you have to pop a Tier 9, do a shot of really really cheap tequilla.

- Every time a you use a Rez, do a shot.

- Team splits in high difficulty content, Chug a beer.

- Fire Farm - log off and beat yourself with a stand of concertina wire . . . and drink a Lone Star Beer.  this is supposed to hurt.

- Every tauntless tank, do a shot

- Petless Mastermind, a shot

- Kheldin Quantum Panic - laugh and chug a beer

 

The list would be endless but you would enjoy the game . . . for about an hour then you will be unconscious on the carpet.
