Mind giving me a boost? This new character of mine only needs 100 vet levels. It's currently in character creation but should be in Zigg in about 2 hours. No idea how to get out of my cell after that so I'll need you to come to me and get me to your farm.

But to the OP, seriously HC has been up since 2019, a lot of us have had lots of time to get to the max level and get a ton of vet levels. Some people consolidate it over a main toon, while others level up a ton of alts.

You will stay in your cell and you will like it.

Seriously, some of us are not alt-aholics, and/or keep other characters on secret second or third accounts.

get a load of this guy who’s only vet level 99

if i’m forming a Master Of run i’d definitely prefer to invite Xx FLAMING DINGUS xX from AE with 488 vet levels and no travel powers - i like to play things safe. more number bigger = more betterer

😛

I've been in teams where someone has been power levelled to 50 with no knowledge of the game and it's painful. No inf for enhancements, terrible slotting, often no travel power. When AE was in atlas I had someone ask me how to get to Kings Row and be surprised there was a transit system. "It's marked on the map".... "What map?"....

Games like WoW have a lot to answer for. So many games kind of ignore the grind to max level as a necessary evil and concentrate on the end game content. Diablo 4 is a really good example of that. Very short story, get that out of the way, then grind for gear to increase the chance of a good drop. Then have the chances of the best drop so low most people never see them. I've had one Mythic drop in the time I've been playing and that was because of an event. At least Diablo 2 and 3 had a long story to follow. People come into our game conditioned to think the low levels are a waste of time and the good stuff starts at the level cap. Then get upset because there actually isn't that much to do, and updates concentrate on content for lower levels.

The low levels here ARE a waste of time. They’re utter shit. Full stop.

this game needs a serious overhaul of its’ leveling experience. Right now it’s outdated trash, not like endgame is expansive, it’s definitely not, but it sure beats, “Beat up 10 of X in zone and talk to random contact here”. Which tends to be a good deal of the leveling.

You still can go through this and be dogshit at the game too, in fact a good deal of some of the worst players I’ve experienced have never touched AE. It’s why I never waste time PuG’ing 4*, as while it’s not difficult, people really struggle with the basics of this game to where i don’t trust the gamble.

What level range are you calling "low levels"?

I dunno but 1-50 story wise is always engaging for me but I can see how mechanically you could get bored easily but I think you'd get more bored farming where you kill a map full of clown ass mobs over and over for hours or sit at a door

I'm trying to gauge how much of the game is seen by the user as a "waste of time"... there is very little reason to spend much time in the intial level ranges, and at a certain point there is a lot of content available, so I'm trying to calibrate the comment.

Veteran levels =/= Actual character levels.  They don't directly contribute to character performance, (besides periodically providing resources to craft incarnate stuff, but even then, you stop getting those periodic rewards after like veteran level 99 or something).  All it represents is that person continued to play that character past level 50...

Oh that makes sense I could see atlas park getting grating if you keep making chars over and over I've been there.

Babes of War - Excelsior - High Beam (Yay), Di Di Guns, Runeslinger, Munitions Mistress, Tideway, Hard Melody, Blue Aria

Many alts and lots of fun.  Thank you Name Release For letting me get my OG main back!

True. I find Excelsior is bad for it, the other shards less so. I've found that if more than one league is in close proximity then the lag is horrendous. I'll often make a second league then incan the league to the other side of the map. Most people stick to the portal areas, especially in Steel and Skyway. Moving to the far reaches of the zone makes it less awful.

At that distance, I'm assuming that the other characters (in the other league) are far enough away that those characters aren't displaying on your screen. Less characters for the system and your computer to keep track of, the less lag there should be.

Tons of characters are stacked in the same place (invasions and such) and the system and your computer are struggling to keep up with supplying and displaying all the information that is being processed.

That isn't to say that the number of player characters in a zone in general don't have impact on lag.

There is a cap on the number of player characters in a zone for a reason.

If someone posts a reply quoting me and I don't reply, they may be on ignore.

(It seems I'm involved with so much at this point that I may not be able to easily retrieve access to all the notifications)

Some players know that I have them on ignore and are likely to make posts knowing that is the case.

But the fact that I have them on ignore won't stop some of them from bullying and harassing people, because some of them love to do it. There is a group that have banded together to target forum posters they don't like. They think that this behavior is acceptable.

Ignore (in the forums) and /ignore (in-game) are tools to improve your gaming experience. Don't feel bad about using them.

I do.

It’s one of the reasons I don’t make alts anymore. It’s kinda like being stuck between two terrible choices, and no, time away has not helped me want to level organically or even farm again.

If anything, it’s doing the opposite effect. Least I’ve been blowing excess inf on HM viable builds for existing 50s because proc bomb madness is surprisingly fun for short bouts.

But this has nothing to do with OP’s question. OP, what you’re seeing is vet levels. They give empyrean merits and/or threads used for incarnates every 3 levels up until 99. Anything after is for fun

Nonsense.  Unless you're talking about REALLY low level.  The 'good' content starts at level 8 (i.e. Positron TF).

Originally on Infinity.  I have Ironblade on every shard.  -  My only AE arc:  The Origin of Mark IV  (ID 48002)

Link to the story of Toggle Man, since I keep having to track down my original post.

I would agree with an argument that most of the ATs don't feel particularly distinguishable (in play) from one another until about level 12.

Below that level... the S.T.A.R.T. (formerly P2W, formerly veteran reward powers) attacks and travel option make initial content very tolerable, even for long-timers. With 2XP and easy patrol XP (exploration badges) it takes very little effort to 'graduate' from Atlas Park (or Mercy Island) even without trying something like Death From Below.

Starting at level 5, with radio/newspaper missions it is pretty quick to start getting the Safeguard/Mayhem missions. By level 20, with Ouroboros in the mix, there is plenty of content. Obviously Ouroboros and Safeguard/Mayhems can be run at level 50 too, but most of the 'flashbacks' are low(er) level content.

I personally do find some of the arcs at certain levels to be a bit of a drag(*1), but I never feel short of different content to do below level 30, and above that point I find myself working to mix things up.

(*1) Mileage may vary.

To each their own.  I rather enjoy the low levels, and the high levels.  It's Brickstown/Founders that really drag for me.

I've leveled almost 30 characters to 50 solo and I've only done a non-TF street hunt once.  And the only reason I did it that time was because I didn't feel like going to another contact.

Granted, the contact system itself is unnecessarily convoluted and unintuitive, but the removal of origin requirements on contacts opened up so many avenues for leveling that the only way hunts could comprise a significant portion of your leveling experience is if you deliberately avoided arcs.

I am on this list, and i dont farm or do AE, i have just been here playing the same toon for 5 years, (Mr. Rabbit Lord).

I kinda got hooked on getting all the costumes, still working on it.
