Homecoming Server Update (January 7th): Victory is Ours!

There's a lot of names available. I checked my namesake and it was available. Aside from that I made two new characters and transferred one I plan on playing during server wide events.

I have, minimum, 1 hero and 1 villain on all of the other shards, (including Vanguard). Many more on some shards.

So now I must create at least 2 characters on Victory! I think a stalker villain, and a defender for the hero.

Any good SG's there want some new members? ;D

Reading through this thread, I did not see any mention of additional costs, servers are not free.

 

I too am somewhat in the middle about "another low population server", I do spend some time playing on each of the servers and each has its own esprit de corps and I'm sure Victory has its own flavor.  On the other hand, when playing on the "low population servers" it is often time consuming to get a full team together, assuming you can get any response, or have to run with a partial team.  As much as I would like to see some movement to consolidate server population, I do not think that will ever happen.  Any merger would would have to honor names in some way, every character has a born on date.

Trust me, it's something I wanted for ages.  The game *HAD* a built in browser back during retail, it's how the store worked, and you *COULD* browse the internet with it, if you knew how to manipulate it.  But it was a ~2011 era browser with ~2011 era browser insecurities and it was ripped out of the client long long ago.

   Imo, thank goodness for that. I played live back in the day, and while I knew it was there, I felt it was too insecure to use at all. And of course with how we can all "surf the web" with ease nowadays, we don't need something like integrated into CoH and/or HC. So I for one am glad it was taken out of the game (code?)... 🙂

You and others may not like my question, but I didn't try to insult anyone. Yes I know how to read and I still don't think another low population server is a good idea. Nothing against the folks from Victory, welcome to HC. What would have made more sense would be to bring on a new server and encourage folks on the other low population servers to move to the new one then shutter the others.

It would not have made sense in this community of City of Heroes. It's been made clear numerous times in the past by the Homecoming Team that shards will not be combined or consolidated. There are no plans to merge shards.

Players from the shards with lower populations have made clear numerous times that they do not want their shards combined or consolidated with other shards.

 

Shuttering other shards or servers is a terrible idea.

hear me out.  Homecoming offers 1000 character slots.  per server.  we brought in a small (but dedicated) group to Homecoming.  We made them feel welcome.  on their world, their terms.  maybe, just maybe, some will make toons on high pop servers.  is there a reason we need to FORCE them to do it?

This is very cool. I'm happy for the players that get to join us. 

It's absolutely none of my business, but did they get to keep their SG bases, influence and stuff like that with the transfer? If so, that's really amazing. If not, I'd like to know that, too. I could drop in there and give some inf away.

I believe so.   There were just a tad over 200 SGs when I transferred over there.   Michiyo did post some stats of Victory pre-server.  Not sure where that is atm.
