I was hoping for a Player Buff change. If enabled, it will be impossible to buff a player that's not on your team.

Geez, write a better DPS tool that can account for buffs maybe.

In the meantime, people gave you some options.

 

I think blanket turning off buffs from non-teams would cause some issues mainly with league stuff, but there are some other edge cases as well.  There's some other interactions that could be impacted as well.   Null's ability to turn off certain things seem to be power specific (effect specific since speed boost, you turn off the extra movement, but not the recovery), so even there is a bit more code needed.  (and is char specific, not team, etc...)

So while it might be simple to take a hammer to it, it may take more effort to do it right.

 

Not against the idea of some way, since there are a few people who would like this for RPG purposes.  Pretty sure I've seen it asked for in the past.

I can ask away in the game all day and it won't make a difference. First because I can't reach even a majority of players given my server presence and available times for play. Second because I am just a player like you and they have no more reason to listen to me than they do you even if I could reach all players.

 

Also, you keep emphasizing DPS tool, but not specifying what DPS tool. And while I don't use any myself, I do know of one and to the best of my knowledge, it can screen for what it checks. So if you are using a DPS tool made available to players for their use, maybe check with others to see if it can screen out the unwanted data. If you made the DPS tool, maybe add the ability to selectively check data.

 

And finally, no one on this thread has made fun of you. No one on this thread has attacked you. No one on this thread even put much effort into attacking your suggestion. The most negative response was the poster didn't understand the desire for the request, but would prefer it was possible through the options menu rather than being made available through Null the Gull. The joking was between two other posters and not directed at you. And you keep acting like it's you versus the world here. I don't need or want you to "be better and not resort to any more acknowledgements to the lack of intelligence in some folks". I'm not telling you anything on this forum for my sake. I was hoping to convince you to take a moment and see what others are saying rather than immediately jump to a defensive stance, and stop trying to make enemies of everyone. It's no skin off my back if you persist. Don't worry about me though. I have no intentions of making further comments on this thread. (I will if I see a new comment I feel the need to respond to, but at this time just don't see a reason for my continued involvement.)

Is the DPS TOOLS data vitally important at the Atlas Park Levels? Back Alley Brawler is also available in Atlas Park of course.

The DPS TOOL is session based. If the timer is running regardless of being in mission or not, the data is collected from the combat log and stored for later observance. The tool places all information into categories buffs included which ultimately effects the entire session. So yes, some times I am not running a test and I don't worry about buffs. But having the option to disable ALL buffs would be a great addition to the game. As far as I know only 3 people currently use this tool for combat calculations. When I run a defender or any toon that can buff? I do not buff outside of teams. There is an outside chance that someone may be doing what I am doing (Crunching numbers etc) so I just don't, its more respectful this way. Lates.

Yep, my 7 year old comes up with the wildest and weirdest name and costume ideas I've ever seen; seeing what their little imaginations do with this game's CC is so fun.

 

As to the OP--while I do think that parsing a DPS tool while standing next to Miss Liberty is kind of a weird choice and seems like a self-inflicted issue you could easily avoid, I suppose there is no technical harm in having an option to decline outside buffs, providing it doesn't bork things with how leagues function.
