Favorite Sentinel combo

About 2 weeks after this thread was originally posted, @Sovera posted a great write up about the wonders of a Sonic/Bio Sentinel.

(The Hidden Gem: Sonic/Bio)

I built a Sonic/Bio called Ultrasonic and took her to level 50. The entire journey was fun, but I didn't find her quite up to soloing +4x8 ITF spawns.

So, my next project was to try a Sonic/Super Reflexes Sentinel with hover.

Sister-Shrike is now level 50, with the first 3 incarnate slots filled.

Even before incarnate powers, I would take great delight on an ITF in solo ambushing the ambushes. By the time the rest of the team caught up, all the minions and lieuts would be dead, and the bosses and EBs would be heavily damaged and softened up by multiple applications of -res. Against large numbers of foes, the chain of cone AoEs very quickly triggers Opportunity. If damage is leaking past your soft-capped defences, then choose Defensive Opportunity and keep the cones firing to get a constant stream of +health and +end. This makes for an almost unkillable damage dealing character who also helps the entire team deal more damage.

(To be fully optimised, she needs a respec. But for any who are interested, a link to Sister-Shrike's current build is in the code section.)

I know, I see this is an old thread, but so far my two favorite sents are my Psy/Fire/Psy and my Fire/Rad. The Fire/Rad has even performed some neat tricks in TFs; it should be really fun once it's 50 and all kitted out.

Global: @Valnara1; Discord Handle: @Valnara#0620

I primarily play on Everlasting, but you may occasionally find me on Indom. 🙂

Notable Characters: Apocolyptica - Demons/Storm MM; Lurking Monster - Human-Form WS; Environmentabot - Bots/Nature MM; Miss Fade - Ill/Traps Controller; Sister Apocalypse - Beast/Dark MM; Dr. Elaina Wrath - Plant/Rad Controller (Join the House of Wrath, and spread the word of science!); Ruff Ruff Boom - AR/Devices Blaster

I avoided sentinels because of all the bad press they received, but had a concept that originally fell to Demons/Therm MM, but after 2 years, I decided I just never liked it. So a bit ago I rolled up a DP/Fire sent, and Ive been having an absolute blast (not put intended), I planned on working RotP into his attack chain, but he's rarely used it. his range is in the mid 90s for most of his attacks, and it doesn't seem his damage is lackluster compared to anything other than a blaster.

now I'm thinking about others concepts (and after reading a few things doing some minor tweaking of this build)

Leveling a dp/Regen and loving it. Low 30s at the moment.

Tried laser rifle or whatever that's called with energy armor and don't like that attack set.

Also have an ice/ice sees fine but I just don't play it. It might be lvl 15 or so.

On the list to try is fire/rad since many seem to think it's super fun. And I do love my rad armor scrapper.

I also have a sonic/energy Sentinel.  Sonic itself doesn't really have a secondary effect that provides a ton of procability, but the -RES helps everything it does.  Generally I cycle through the three cones (kb2kd and FF procing) and then run in, aim, and nuke.  Of the Sentinel primaries Sonic is really safe with the recent change making sleeps auto-hit in PvE.

I have a lv.50 Ice/Ice/Psy thats one of my favorite characters to play at the moment. I know people tend to hate on ice armor, and it does have its holes, but I've enjoyed my run with it so far. I did drop the two +3% defense IOs into it and run Maneuvers and Hover. With energy absorption up I run at around 37.5% defense to s/l/e/n and capped resist to cold. I took the alpha slot that boosts end. mod/recharge/defense. I only play on teams and usually theres multiple maneuvers or other buffs so I'm often over the 45% defense cap. I open with aim and blizzard+ice storm so theres usually not much return fire.

I'm in the process of leveling up an Elec/Energy and its been pretty fun too.

I think sentinels are my new favorite class to play when I don't want to play my usual support characters.

Global: @Renatos

Main Defenders on Everlasting:

Liza Frost - Lv.50 Cold/Ice; Tara Sonara - Lv.50 Nature/Sonic; Voice of Gaia - Lv.50 Sonic/Sonic; Tenebrous Tide - Lv.50 Dark/Water; Elloria Neutrina - Lv.50 Empathy/Radiation;

Hailblast - Lv.50 Storm/Storm; Elektra Cross - Lv.50 Electric/Electric; Agent Sureshot - Lv.50 Trick Arrow/Electric; Agent Blayze - Lv.46 Thermal/Fire; Twilight Servant - Lv.42 Time/Dark; Commander Trax - Lv.29 Traps/Beam Rifle

If anyone else is interested, I counted up the recommendations up to this point. The three most mentioned combos were Fire/Fire, Fire/Rad, and Elec/Elec. The primary mentioned the most was Fire, with Elec and DP tying for 2nd. The most-mentioned secondary was Bio, with Energy and WP tying for 2nd.

(I didn't include any suggestions from posters who listed more than three and acknowledge that not all opinions are equal.)

Woot. Fire/Bio for the win!

The Elec/Bio has been so lazy. It's become a favorite when I don't want to be fussed and just exemplar where ever and do what ever.

No worries about debuffs, no worries about danger, no worries about positioning, no worries about dying, no worries about anything.

And three minutes pylon times for a fully ranged Sentinel is pretty good even if not truly indicative of the power. Heck, most my Brutes are in the three minute range for pylons.

Gotta put my shocker 🤯 in here elec/elec maxed out to the T (tier 4's) 😄 I've had fire brutes whisper me in FF's about how crazy gud hitter it is.

To be fair, people asking for hitters on a FF are trash farmers to begin with, so saying how good you are as a hitter isn't saying much.

This is severely inaccurate. I'll give anyone a good run for their money on clear times and I still enjoy having other hitters with me every now and then. And I'm sure I'm not the only one feeling this way. Not to mention it feels good to farm on non min-maxed toons every now and then.

So, if I see a Defender, Sentinel or any non-typical combos doing well, then heck yes they do get bragging rights. Well done @Fire Chief

Alright, do a Trapdoor and let us know. It is usually done without incarnate clickies but not forbidden, just let us now if used.

I'd rather see a trio of pylon runs, and a trio of Trapdoor runs. That way we can get a feel for it's single target capabilities, and its aoe abilities.

I have a few Sentinels and for all the negativity they seem to draw I find them VERY enjoyable to play.

so far I have

Fire/Rad

Elec/Elec

DP/SR

Dark/Bio

The Dark/bio turned out FAR better that I expected..

I'm probably going to try a Fire/Fire. I started one and then went blaster but I dont think I want anymore blasters. I am also considering Fire/Regen

I have no Beam Rifle toon so I am considered Beam Rifle/Energy Invuln

I also made a Arch/SR liked the blaster better.. might go Arch/Ninja instead.
