To be completely fair, that Tanker build was min/maxed to hell and back and it was definitely not my "first" take on it. Katana/Dark could definitely get higher DPS without possibly sacrificing *too* much survivability and gain substantial AoE Here are the "highest damaging" IO slottings overall for Kat/Dark to squeeze out its DPS - pretend that the damage IO here is Bombardment proc That right there will land you solidly in the 300-400 DPS range with fury keeping up and give you -40% res to your enemy. I recommend putting the Fury bonus in Death Shroud :), this will really help you to get more ST DPS and AoE out of your brute 🙂 This isn't meant to be me coming off as "cocky" or rude, but when I took the pool and made similar changes to my Rad/TW Tanker, I saw a surge of more than 100+ DPS even on TW, what it can do for Katana with the right slotting? Who knows =D Edited April 1, 2020 by Zeraphia 1

Katana/Dark could definitely get higher DPS without possibly sacrificing *too* much survivability and gain substantial AoE Heh, I'm on my 38th Mids build and I think my 7th real build Katana/Dark, including a Katana/Dark Scrapper on live, then a Katana/Dark Brute on live, and now a Katana/Dark Brute on Homecoming. But I've always min/maxed them to hell and back for Scrapper Challenge Rules (no temps, no insps, no disengaging, no deaths), thus my poor, suffering damage output. But I was just thinking last night how I should get myself a second, more DPS-oriented build for my Brute. My focus would be sufficient DPS and survivability for soloing level 54 AVs no temps no insps, though with Lore pets. Switch builds back and forth as the situation dictates. Not sure what the cooldown on build swaps is. But I was impressed with what you squeezed out of that Tanker in terms of damage while still maintaining good survivability. I may have to explore some Tanker damage builds instead of just Scrapper and Brute survivability builds. But I've decided my next 50 will be a Fire/Rad Sentinel after seeing what @nihilii did with his. I've never played a Sentinel, but I've played Scrappers and Blasters, so halfway in between? Sounds fun. 1

Given that you solo at +4/x8, there is more to it than evident at first glance. Look at accuracy against +3 and +4 level mobs in that build, and you have Gloom/Dark Oblit at 78.38% and 63.69%, respectively, and Rend Armor and AoD at 91.02% and 73.95%, respectively. That would have drastic effect on the DPS versus what happens vs. a pylon. Fighting pylons requires much less acc/tohit than vs. +3 and +4 mobs.

To be quite honest, with level shifts being factored in, it's at the 78% without Build Momentum and the Gaussian's factored, so this is true, it does have some flaws, there are accuracy inspirations to help, there is -defense, then if you're on teams accuracy isn't too much of a problem factoring in all the Tactics being thrown around. I have noticed some occasional whiff's, but nothing too bad. That said, I tested her today and came verrrrry close to soloing MoMLTF (yes...) sadly GW's hold ****'d me over on my first attempt but I was definitely denting the +4 AV's quite sustainably.

Fighting pylons requires much less acc/tohit than vs. +3 and +4 mobs. Since I don't use inspirations when I'm pushing myself, I'm currently running Kismet, Tactics, and Focused Accuracy to deal with defense buffs and to-hit debuffs. That was one of the issues I had with my previous build (no FA) soloing Dark Astoria arcs. I need to test out survivability after my recent DPS tweaks, but my average of two pylon runs this morning was 252 DPS with Assault Core, Degenerative Radial, Fury of the Gladiator in Golden Dragonfly, and Achilles' Heel in Soaring Dragon. I'm keeping Cardiac and Barrier. I think I can mostly stay alive without Melee Core, which I rarely touched, but I can't without Barrier, which I use all the time and am to some extent built around. DPS does improve survivability in most fights, so I suspect the build is still solid. I added Longbow on top of the new DPS, and was then able to take down L54 Mother Mahem in a single summon on an AE map, but my Cataphract twice preferred shooting from melee range, so I'm working on Storm Elementals right now, hoping they'll be happier to attack from a distance. I may need to experiment with other Lore pets to see which works best for me. Hopefully then I'll be ready to take on the world again, but with AVs turned on rather than EBs. nihilii Posted April 4, 2020 Posted April 4, 2020 (edited) A couple runs with my Elec/Inv/Psi Sentinel, now that Degen is fixed. Easily competes with my Fire/Rad, despite using a purely defensive secondary. And on top of that, throws boss level holds as part of her attack chain. And drains mobs dry. Whew! I believe an Elec/Bio would likely top the charts for Sentinel DPS. That said, this DPS is conditional as it relies on fighting one and only one target, for Voltaic Sentinel to do its job. Making a good macro for VS is IMHO such a strong quality of life upgrade for Elec. I'm using "powexec_location forward:20 Voltaic Sentinel", so I don't have to fiddle with the targeting reticle to summon it. Having to aim is a hard price to pay for a 60s summon that may or may not pay off, whereas simply tapping a key makes the cast easier to fit seamlessly. Edited April 4, 2020 by nihilii 1
nihilii Posted April 4, 2020 Posted April 4, 2020 DA/EM Tanker. Yes. EM. Don't judge me. Musc T3, Degen T3, Ageless T4, Hybrid T3 Energy Transfer -> Bone Smasher -> Total Focus -> Bone Smasher. Build Up replaces Bone Smasher whenever up, ideally before the next ET. Heca + ToD procs in ET Mako + ToD + Perfect Zinger in Bone Smasher No damage proc in TF Hybrid OFF 5:41 = 240 DPS Hybrid ON 5:32 = 243 DPS Good reminder one or two runs is not enough for a reliable number, even on lowish DPS characters. Subjectively, I whiffed a lot on that Hybrid attempt. EM might not be much these days, but with the general power increase and the Tanker buffs, we can get to something decent. Makes the nostalgia trip more enjoyable, while waiting for buffs.

EM can do so much more! Granted I did the test with Bio Armor so there's the added -Res and +Dam into the equation, but running Energy Punch (2x), Bone Smasher, Gloom, Energy Transfer, I got a base line between 3:00-3:30 straight up, and 2:25 as a best time with Hybrid Assault Core. I didn't even blink at skipping Total Focus because its animation is just too long, and having another attack already at 2.9/s was a gamble, if ET and TF both miss back to back, that's 6.4/s of 0 DPS (ouch!). ToD, Mako, Glad, Zing procs in ET and BS Maki, Glad, Zing, Heca in EP (primary filler, repeats a lot) Apoc, Cloud, Glad procs in Gloom Energy Punch w/ Procs is minimum 200 DPS on its own! So good! Took down a 52 EB Heavy Assault Unit in less than 30/s. Ditch TF, get Cross Punch with the -Res proc, go nuts! Tanker, Brute, Stalker, Scrapper, Blaster: Go Core, better return. Defender, Corruptor, Mastermind, Controller: Go Radial (if even Assault at all). Fuzzy in the middle based on build: Dominator, Sentinel, (V)EATS With the Tanker buff, Core just does dramatically better, and I tried that across a couple different melee sets for Tankers, it just never came out well with Radial. 1 Pylon Test Run Submission Proc Monsters (Controller Edition) Proc Monsters (Defender Edition) Pylon Test Run Results Proc Monsters (Tanker Edition) "Mad King Special" "Ceterum autem censeo Iram esse delendam" Mad King Special - Force Edition (NEW!)

Good points. 🙂 But in the end, EM does comparable ST damage to other good secondaries while using long animations, taking self damage and having a secondary effect that is useful for mitigation but detrimental for speed (enemies wander off stunned). And then, it has one bad AoE. The difference becomes apparent when, say, soloing an Apex Rikti Pylon. On any other of my DA tankers I can sustain the autohit toxic damage + other attacks generally without inspirations, perhaps popping a luck at most. This DA/EM gets really low on HP before Dark Regen recharges, sometimes to the point of death even. Granted, that is partly a consequence of my choices. If I went Gloom I could kite some, if I skipped TF I would have less animation lock... No argument. 🙂 But I enjoy EM a lot, actually! The damage might be low but it doesn't *feel* low - and I've been using her extensively before having any incarnates, so her DPS was likely in the 160-180 range then. Having a chain of 2 big + 1 medium power makes for satisfying floating numbers. Even godawful Whirling Hands becomes enjoyable with a 12 feet radius. A friend actually rerolled an EM alt after watching mine, feeling his Rad Melee didn't compare. Goes to show how perception can matter over pure performance. 1
ScarySai Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 (edited) I didn't see anything for savage brutes, so I figured I'd drop my first pylon run for HC in here. Savage/dark brute, 3:44 for roughly almost 300 DPS, if the math here is correct. I have since changed a few things, so might give it another go soonish. Edited April 8, 2020 by ScarySai

Meltdown give a 33% damage buff for 60 seconds I've found the effect to be a wash in static tests. 3 seconds of doing 0 damage is a lot of time to for a 33% damage buff lasting just a minute. Then you have to deal with the -recovery crash, which can actually hurt if it happens at the lower bound of your Ageless cycle. That said, in practical gameplay Meltdown can be useful whenever you have "free" animation time for whatever reason. Entering an elevator, opening a door... You tap Meltdown before clicking, and it's ready once you come out. Free damage. 1
Zeraphia Posted April 10, 2020 Posted April 10, 2020 So... I decided to re-test my Fire/Bio Sentinel... previously she was not able to reach even the 4 minute mark... it was honestly quite sad... Microcosm Posted April 11, 2020 Posted April 11, 2020 Ice/bio stalker, T4 Musc Core, T4 Ageless Core, T4 Degen Core, T4 Assault Core (off) 1:53 467 1:27 569 good procs? 1:47 486 1:54 464 Went with bio for the synergy of Frozen Aura's sleep with Genetic Corruption's sleep, and Ice Patch shoring up bio's otherwise weaker survivability. That plus Shadow Meld works really well. Next, Claws/Rad stalker, same incarnates, but using Water Spout 2:02 442 2:06 432 2:02 442 Picked Rad here to help with the AoE weakness of Stalker Claws, and because it's a really survivable set. Both of these two can handle a +4/x8 s/l farm with some care. For non-pylon play I would also swap to T4 Ageless Radial for extra debuff resistance. 1 Inspiration maker's guide

Sir Myshkin Posted April 15, 2020 Posted April 15, 2020 So I'm on the hunt for a new build that plays around with a self-contained singular-purpose "Assassin" that completely neuters its target, and then ruthlessly kills it. Ideally I'm boxing this into Corruptor/Defender (most likely Defender) for debuff, and trying to come up with with the best combination that's a bit off from atypical choices, but can hammer down a target quickly. Lead me into starting with a test on Poison/Sonic, and what better way to test speed than a Pylon? T4 Degenerative Core T4 Ageless Core (was on the fence about end, probably didn't need it) T4 Musculature Radial T4 Melee Core (slotted, all it does it passive regen when not activated) T4 Vorpal Radial (yeah, I used it) Multiple runs, my average time was 6:30, Best of 6:15, worst of 6:45ish (didn't write them all down, just noted out of game capture time stamps) I gotta say this was actually super disappointing. I really expected a better swing despite Sonic not really having a very impressive ST chain. Stacked -Res were excessive: Envenom (40%), Venomous Gasses (25%), Shriek and Scream (20% each, 40 total), Weaken Resolve (proc'd out did same damage as Shriek with Apoc+PvP, 10% base, brief stack of 20%, and Achilles for another 20%, basic avg of 30%). Total of -135% Resistance Debuff, beats my Trick Arrow/Archery by (iirc) ~55% additional. Despite all of that, the Trick Arrow is 30-45/s faster. Tried with Shout in there as well since its debuff lasts longer, but the 2.9/s animation is ridiculous. If that one power could get its animation time halved and keep its damage, Sonic would have at least a smidgen of hope. Even went out and tried fighting against 52 and 54 Rikti and the clear speed of a single mob was a drag. Poison easily stripped the threat out of the fight, but trying to clear a spawn of 10 took just as long as clearing one Pylon when trying to utilize the two cone's. I was really hoping for a better result, but am left massively underwhelmed by Sonic. Definitely not a combination I've seen more than once (personally), wanted a better result to make it shine. Time to visit the next choice of Rad/Psi... Signalrunner Posted April 16, 2020 Posted April 16, 2020 (edited) Staff/SR Stalker Testing All Pylon times are with T4 Musc Core/T3 Degen -HP only/T4 Hybrid Core passive. Leadership Assault toggled on. My only epic power is Physical Perfection from Weapon Mastery. Serpent's Reach-Precise Strike-Assassin's Staff-Sky Splitter 2:53 3:13 - sloppy start -Didn't record further than this because I wasn't impressed with the DPS in a few extra half runs Guarded Spin-Precise Strike-Assassin's Staff-Sky Splitter / Guarded Spin with -Res + 4 damage procs (98% dmg enh value) 2:55 2:42 2:47 2:20 2:31 2:32 Mercurial Blow-Serpent's Reach-Assassin's Staff-Sky Splitter / Mercurial with -Res + 4 damage procs (110% dmg enh value) 2:48 2:32 2:52 2:34 Guarded vs Mercurial chains seem close enough DPS-wise, however Guarded offers two added benefits: 1. Perma +DEF buffs from GS since it's now part of the main attack chain. 2. On average, more Build Up reset ATO procs for non-Pylon content since the idea is you'll be hitting more enemies with GS built in to your chain. Edited April 16, 2020 by Signalrunner 2
