  1. Because they used to just stick out of wherever they were. Remember planking? They'd do that with walls. Train tracks. One toe holding them completely horizontal off a ledge. Which, honestly, was quite impressive. So this was an... upgrade.
  2. The following zones have had their beacons removed: Echo: Dark Astoria These beacons will now be directed to Dark Astoria Echo: Galaxy City These beacons have been destroyed by an energy spike of unknown origin Note: Both of these zones can still be accessed through Ouroboros And (at least in the beta notes) - A strange energy spike in Galaxy City reached the old Supergroup Portal and caused a cascade overload in the entire Teleport network. Most of the damage has been repaired, but destinations in temporal flux have been lost to the past. So that's the "in game" reason. But there was discussion elsewhere. From Faultline (dev): Personally, I'd like them back as well, but it was more a nicety than a theme for me.
  3. "Solo an AV" is an edge case. It's like saying "Car tires shouldn't wear out as fast as they do. Run your car at 200mph on a track for 24 hours and find out the hard way." Yes, some builds can. Yes, with IOs it's easier. But "Solo an AV" is not what masterminds, or any other AT, were designed around - so if it takes more to do so and you have to resummon more often? *No Kidding you have to.* Sky's blue and water's wet, too.* Besides, you're throwing out moving targets. First, you're somehow still standing at the door in your first post, summoning and buffing, while the team's "halfway through the map," then you're resummoning apparently every single time you lose a T1, which is frankly not necessary, and now you're saying soloing AVs is the baseline for determining if something's a "chore" or not? Which is it? If you're soloing an AV, your team's not halfway across the map, and you're not standing at the doorway, after all (unless you're running off on your own, in which case, don't do that.) Give us whatever scenario is really bugging you and stick with it, because right now it's not helping make your case at *all.* *Edit: And I'm saying this as someone who accidentally soloed one (granted, just countess crey) on live with a thugs/poison. Yep, had to keep resummoning. Wasn't exactly a surprise.
  4. AT: Whatever you want to play. Naming rule: None, really.
  5. ... I used to know this. I don't recall if it was Angus ... what's his last name, mcqueen? or not. Think he's a bit late. (Founders Falls.) Edit: Steven Sheridan, THe Organ Grinders, gives you omega level clearance where you learn this. If you don't learn it there, you do through talking with the Dark Watcher during Levantra's arc in the RWZ. Angus's arcs, I think, have changed since the RWZ took over from the RCS.
  6. That playerbase also had *years* of accounts - and far *more* acounts (180,000 active subscribers at peak - or active accounts - with some obviously inactive before and after that.) And I can't find the anniversary post with how many million characters there were. So, no, it's not, really - unless you think everyone is running (or sitting on) several hundred characters. We have a *long* way to go before hitting those numbers. And the effects of the script were - well, as described.
  7. I have put a quartermaster in the base for all your TO-buying needs as well. (Issue0-18202)
  8. It's not *fast* (58 seconds on my attempt) but a Warshade in Dwarf makes it a literal "run" that's amusing on its own.
  9. Fun with Shadow Slip (The warshade PBAOE TP.) Fighting two Zeus titans. They split up. I hit Shadow Slip. "Where'd that other titan go?" Zoom out a little. "Oh..."
  10. So, thoughts after tonight: - I'm *WAY* too used to having the temp Sands of Mu. I kept looking for it. - My blaster's more survivable than she was back in the day, thanks to Defiance 2.0. Mez is harder to notice since I'm able to shoot through it. - Combining insps: Ignore or just take it as part of the game? I was chewing some I didn't need so stuff I *could* use might drop. - Blast from the past: "You are getting too far from your mentor." "Your mentor is too far away!" (I'm tempted to put those in as local chat macros.) Edit: Thinking this'll be the 40 "build." (Granted, I usually am just grabbing powers... trying to grab them the way I did back then. Presence pool substituting for fitness picks. Also need to update to deal with electric and teleport changes, but eh. ) http://www.cohplanner.com/mids/download.php?uc=1302&c=523&a=1046&f=HEX&dc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
  11. Yeah. I'm planning on putting "useful" ones in email (or, hey, sending them to another character.) I don't know that common salvage is going to make as big a difference between selling at a vendor and selling cheap on the market. My rares are going into the vault (don't forget there's a link to the vault reserve right in the corner of the salvage window.) Also, eesh, fighting Tsoo at these restrictions... 😄
  12. Mini-guide: The Attributes window (Note. This is a repost from way back on live. But, the window itself is a useful little tool, and a quick search didn't bring up anything on it in the guides, so... here we go. I've also made some modifications for some things that have changed since then.) "How do I get that little window that shows power levels, defense and stuff?" If that's what you're asking, you've come to the right guide. If you don't know what I'm talking about? It's a little window like this: No, it's not there by default. You have to set it up yourself, per character. How do I get that window? That's the easy part. In game: 1. Click on "Powers." Your power list will come up. 2. In the upper left of that power window, click on "Combat Attributes." This will open up a new window. In it, you should see seven categories: Base Movement Damage Resistance Defense Debuff Resistance Status Effect Protection Status Effect Resistence Each of these categories can be expanded to show you more selections. 3. When you see what you want to monitor - you can have several items visible - right click on the item. On the menu that comes up, pick "Monitor (whatever it is.)" 4. When you're done... close the combat attributes window. You can left click anywhere in the new little window you have and drag it around. Questions: 1. What do I find where? "Base" covers a lot of the things many people want to see - current and max HP and Endurance, Stealth, some bonuses, XP needed, debt, and influence among them. Movement covers movement speeds, and so forth. Click through and look - it's a long list. 2. What if I select more than 10 things? The oldest thing you selected - at the top - will scroll off the list. 10's the limit by default. 3. How do I rearrange these? Right click in the little window you just created, right on top of whatever you want to move. You will have choices to "Move up" or "Move down." 4. I don't want to see X any more. How do I get rid of one of the lines? Right click on the item you want to stop watching, and select "Stop monitoring (item.)" 5. I don't want any of it any more! How do I get rid of it? Right click in the window, pick "Stop monitoring all." 6. What's a good layout? This totally epends on you. What do you want to watch? For me, I'll often have: Current hit points (Possibly) Current endurance Level Shift XP to next level Influence ... and add what I need to it. A Brute might want to see the Damage Bonus from Fury, for instance. A Stalker might want their Stealth radius (PVP) - while someone hunting one might want Perception Radius. What you add, however, is totally up to you. There are also items I'll add situationally - such as when facing the rogue Vanguard in the RWZ arcs or doing the Honoree portion of Mender Ramiel's unlock, I'll put in *max* Endurance. Why? They can hit you with the Curse of Weariness, which cuts your END pool in half (and which is when you should use the curse breaker, available in the RWZ for - I think 250 V-merits.) The attributes window is useful without the floating monitor, by the way! Want to check where you're getting certain bonuses (and how big of a buff from each?) Open up the combat attributes window and expand what you're interested in, such as defense. Here's what my elec/elec Sentinel looks like: See those repeated bonuses? Not only can I tell if I'm at five and should look for something else, but I can somewhat tell the source. (She has several sets of Thunderstrikes.) If you don't want to see the sources, just the totals (to clean up the window or see more at a glance,) right click and "hide sources." (Oh, and here's her floating window I keep open... to see what one of my HC characters is like.) Hopefully it helps, for those interested in numbers - or just keeping track if you've got all your level shifts or not 🙂 Enjoy!
  13. To all those looking here, I say...

    What'chu lookin' at, Willis?

    🙂

  14. Honestly, I think all the maps could probably use a little sharpening up. (And clarifying of neighborhoods in some... *cough*Croatoa*cough*)
  15. Closest we have is this comment in another thread:
  16. ... don't resummon that often? And if you're dead and your team has moved on, there are bigger problems than resummoning a pet. (Besides, if you're dead, your other pets are not taking damage - they die when you do. There may be an exception - I don't recall if Necro's ghost hangs around or not - but your T1, T2, and T3 pets die.) And to test - fired up a MM. Took 9 seconds from no pets to all pets - you don't have to wait for the animation to finish, after all. To buff? ~4 seconds. (Again, you don't have to wait for the animation to finish before hitting the next buff and starting to move.) So here's what you do: - Other than low levels, don't worry about your T1s. Past... oh, 20, they're cannon fodder anyway. Don't resummon T1s every time one dies. The only time to worry about one dying is with Necro, and that's just to summon the ghost. - Worried about not keeping up with the team? Stay with them. Keep them buffed. Summon and buff your pets as you go. - Don't wait for animation times to finish. You don't need to.
  17. I'm not shooting down anything. I'm just pointing out that that tracker isn't necessarily accurate.
  18. I'm ... confused with calling the buffs time consuming. It takes longer to *summon* the pets than to buff them all. You hit two buttons once and they're fully upgraded. It's pretty quick.
  19. That activity tracker is .... not accurate. It can be thrown off. Example I tend to give, from back on live - Three of my friends and I set up a "shield squad." We played together, coordinated the time, etc. Didn't really play if the others weren't there (we did have alts, after all.) Yes, I'd log on and do some buying/selling, etc. but not, say, run task forces, MSRs, etc. without the others. For them, the "patrol time" at 50 was ~80 hours - maybe 5 hours of variation between them. I had 300-some hours. And definitely was *not* on that character that much more.
  20. .... Really tempted to go ahead and set up that SG. And call it "We Have No Issues." (In fact... did so. @Therra Arcson. Which brings up the question - SG bases were a later "thing." Do we want one FOR DOs, etc, to be stored, or run as "just a group?" )
  21. 1. Are you tanking all right? Then I don't care if you have either or both of these or not. 2. Are you having fun? Take what's letting you have fun. Tank stuff. 3. Are you having fun? Take what's letting you have fun. Punch stuff. Not sure which to take? You have 1000 slots. Make both. Welcome to the alt side. 4. Probably not.
  22. Try crossing your "i"s and dotting your "t"s. *nods*
  23. Well, if we do we can make a mission out of it. How many merits is Emmy worth? 🙂
  24. Not sure. Possibly. Can't imagine there are 96 goldsiders on right now. They may make up part of it as well.
  25. That's one I like trying to get the "old fashioned" way - just sprint, hop up the back of the leg to the hip, shoulder, try to jump on the hand (though if you miss that, getting close enough still gets the badge.)
