taunt All Scrappers must have Taunt Auras
Greycat replied to Purrfekshawn's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I think they're referring to the fact the OP has a tendency to talk about "his private server." (Just for clarification.) -
Compress the range of Recharge values
Greycat replied to aethereal's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
No, it isn't. Not even close. If I have it on 5% of my (many) builds, I'd be surprised. If I counted my (300? 400?) live characters, it *might* push it to 7%. Hasten is as necessary as an ice cream churn in the core of a nuclear reactor. -
Why were the Echo zone beacons removed from bases?
Greycat replied to Flashtoo's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
You're ... far from correct in that. We officially (via story arc) visit *multiple* dimensions outside of Praetoria (though some of the dimensions are visited because of that.) For example: - "Nictus" or "War Wolf" Earth - Battle Maiden, as I recall, is from a different dimension than Praetoria ("Warrior Earth") - Axis America's Earth - The Hydra are taken from another dimension. - The Rikti are from another dimension. - There's a dimension that is sped up by either Antimatter or Neuron (I think Neuron) that drives its natives crazy because of it. - Nemesis has a few dimensional counterparts, one of which had his automatons slaughter everyone else when he died - The Shadow Shard - Whatever dimension Protean is using to make multiple clones of the character in Jenny Adair's arc - The Psychic Clockwork King's world ... and that's *just* off the top of my head. I mean, other dimensions are the entire *point* of Portal Corp. It's also the "secret" of Supradyne - a *small* percentage of users end up actually seeing across dimensions. (As I recall, they don't keep their sanity.) I seem to recall this being part of why Dr. Webb actually started Portal Corp. Also, several of those dimensions can be seen as different timelines - after all, something different happened and changed the course of history. Getting to and from the dimension that's sped up would *necessarily* put you in a different time from ours, since if the day is (say) 1/3 as long (it's hinted at being faster,) it's not just "different series of events but the date is the same," as it would be for Praetoria or Axis America, but the actual *time* is different - Portal would have to pull you back from the (relative) future to the (primal) present. I don't recall Homecoming actually changing lore. They may have added little pieces (via story arcs) but nothing's really *changed.* And nothing relevant to this. Though if we want to stick with "lore says," well, if their excuse is a "mysterious surge" knocked out access to the Echo zones, they're going to have to consider impact on some of those arcs I mentioned. And even *if* they want to stick with that for ... "official" time access, that should still have zero impact on player bases and access. If Flashtoo's access was magical (the "book" mentioned in the OP,) why would that be affected? Does this affect people with time travel characters - especially with a literal time *manipulation* powerset inspiring them? (And even those without, I have a thief/assassin whose blades affect time - hard for a heart to beat if part of it is stuck in a moment a minute ago.) Is that now verboten except through Ouro? Also. The argument that "the portal/teleport system isn't powerful enough to visit alternate timelines" (and all the cascading followon from that) doesn't really matter if you're (IC) not *using* that system. It's like saying "Cars can't drive over the ocean" to someone taking a boat to get somewhere as reason they shouldn't be able to reach their destination. -
Hmm. Issue... 5, was it? Trying to remember if SOs were a thing. I think it'd be several degrees easier, in many respects (SG bases, teleporters. Though how you'd recreate losing INF for Prestige... >.> ) Also, nice run tonight. Missed a call to team a little earlier since I was finishing a mission on another character, hopped on Upheaval 2004 and fortunately Medic 2004 showed up... the difference between a level 8 earth/rad trying to solo and having someone with blasts is huge. 🙂 Now within a level of having superjump, from level 8...

If you want/need more alts, there's a really easy way to get more: Give yourself a "One of everything!" challenge. I did this on live, with a "One of each control set to 50," for instance. You can also do "Every something/whatever goes with it," or "Stick to a theme" (Everything ice/cold, for instance - Ice troller, Ice blaster, Cold assault dom, etc.) You'll end up with *plenty* of alts at the end of that.

taunt All Scrappers must have Taunt Auras
Greycat replied to Purrfekshawn's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
So, issue - as pointed out - with your premise. "Because they are listed in character creation screen as those who can "Tank", along with Tankers, Brutes, Peacebringers, Warshades, and what is the tank w/out Taunt Aura?" This is what's shown for the "Tank" role. No archetypes at all are listed. However, the description lists "soaking damage." Which is not a Scrapper's job. They *can,* sure, since they're made for melee, and I've seen some decent Scrappers tank, but - not their job. Hit next, Four ATs. Tanker, PB, WS, Brute. Not sure where you're seeing "Scrapper" here. Your list doesn't even fit if you pick "Melee" (the next one down) accidentally, as neither Kheld is listed. The Arachnos soldier and widow is. So, if your argument is "Scrappers need a taunt aura because they're listed under the tank role in the selection screen," they aren't. Edit: I should also point out Peacebringers and Warshades* do not have a taunt aura, and they *are* listed under that. *Warshades do get Orbiting Debt, but only in human form, where most tanking is done in Dwarf. -

Counterproposal: Scrappers should have Fear auras. They're walking love children of Ginsu knives, Slap Chop and Cuisenarts. It makes sense that enemies would want to run away from that. -
Trying to think of a reasonable redemption story for a villain
Greycat replied to RikOz's topic in Roleplaying
I'll be honest, if I run into a morality mission that doesn't fit my character... at best it's a bad dream. They're written as mini stories, not geared towards anyone's character. I have *no* problem with ignoring what a morality mission (or any other) had me do if it doesn't fit my character (as many don't.) My characters don't go out and take down Hamidon several times a day, after all - RP and backstory is put on hold for that, it's just game-is-blasty-shooty-punchy-fun-time. That said? A simple (or complex) realization - that "what I'm doing is not really helping" (whether it's "stopping crime" or "I don't feel better about me or what I'm doing") can be a good point for a turnaround and contact. I've had that happen as a simple realization, and I've had it happen as "ran across someone in the same situation that set me on this path, and they asked me to kill them instead of rescue them, because they couldn't live with it." And everything in between. It's definite reason to reach out. -
I don't think (just from my read of the OP) that it's a "to do this to change from one to another" idea, but a "I have a certain organization I want and would like to reorder without hitting the tailor multiple times" idea. 🙂

How the heck do I convince myself to make a Corruptor?
Greycat replied to Chompie's topic in General Discussion
Easiest way is to just quit worrying about the numbers. If you want numbers, open Excel. (Or Open/Libreoffice, or Quattro Pro or whatever. I'm not picky.) If you want to run around blasting things and being hero/villainy, open COH. 🙂- 71 replies

For thiese: - Maybe. - They've said repeatedly they would not charge money. "License" does not necessarily mean "yes you can make money on this." - I'd expect, while some fetters may be off, they'd still need a larger team. "License" doesn't really mean they're now a professional development company - they're still a group of volunteers. - Hard to say. - See answer about charging. Personally, I wouldn't, because the team here has shown they are interested in good, solid development, not throwing things at the wall to see if they stick (and don't break the server. Just because it's spaghetti code doesn't mean you have to throw it at the wall.)

While yes, you can save and load costumes and use that to change what's in what slot, I wouldn't mind seeing this.

A costume change emote that I would love to see added

How about one going the other way, for the more modest - a changing room appears and hides the character for a second or two. 🙂 -
Darkness Manipulation tweaks... Lets discuss!
Greycat replied to Snowdaze's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
No. "There was once an old castle in the middle of a vast thick wood' in it there lived an old woman quite alone, and she was a witch. By day she made herself into a cat or a screech-owl, but regularrly at night she became a human being again. In this way she was able to decoy wild beasts and birds, which she would kill, and boil or roast." - Jorinda and Joringel, Hansel and Grethel and Other Grimm's Fairy Tails. (What. I felt like being contrary.) 🙂 All right. In seriousness, yeah, Dark Pit kind of shares Clarity's problem of "it'd have been useful earlier." I don't really feel boost range *fits* with everything, but would have to chew on just what to replace it with. (Or not. Sometimes a "just take it" power comes in handy if you want to ignore it and throw the slots in something else afteward.) -
They've always been rather general. It's a holdover from the "we're not giving numbers" days.

On most of the wording of the announcements, and GM commentary on the threads that have come up, it's been "While Homecoming is working on becoming legitimized." That (which can also be read as "the talks with NCSoft") is the only solid piece of information we have. GM Tahquiz also mentioned it being "against the TOS of various streaming platforms" in their post. Unless HC or NCSoft say something additional, everything else is speculation of various quality.

Make Hazard Zones and generic Monsters worth fighting.
Greycat replied to SableShrike's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I'm fairly sure the Eden critters are just "monster" level, as I recall. (Edit - yep, just looked. "Monster," not "Giant monster.") -
I'll thank you not to assume, or judge my (or anyone else's) characters and their abilities, or try to blow off the fact I don't want or need permadom with putting it down as "roleplaying." The first is a bad idea, the second is not your place, and the third, the way your statement comes across, is just smacking of elitism. Honestly, that entire post comes off as talking down. I've played more than my share of doms on live and here. I'd say I have a good handle on the AT. (Yes, that does include knowing what "Domination" is. You don't need to define it. That's part of that "talking down" I mentioned.) I've never felt the need or desire to perma domination (or anything else, for that matter.) If I *had* felt it was required, I'd have been pushing the devs to fix whatever was so broken with them to require it. If you *prefer* running that way, if you *like* it, great. Knock yourself out. Have fun. Do your thing. But that doesn't mean it's necessary as a general rule.
-
Absolutely not. I've been playing them since COV came out. It's not needed in the slightest.

Greycat replied to SableShrike's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Er. Perez already has its own (the Kraken.) Crey's Folly already has its own (Jurassik.) THey don't need to be populated by monsters - if anything, people would spend even *less* time in there, then. Plus they'd be nothing but an annoyance when you get sent to them to do missions, whether from tips or as part of an arc elsewhere. What would bring people in is actual content. Arcs related to the zones. They already *do* have backstory. There's plenty there to explore that could be delved into as story arcs. -
Well, at least one or two people are doing poolboys (mostly power pools versus primary/secondary.) Also people need to not freak out about and/or learn to use knockback.
-
Just pretend it's #11 on the menu and comes with noodles or veggies and rice.
-
What is their point? Same point as any other AT: Playstyle variation. Some people like playing with control. Some people prefer to blast at range. Some people prefer doing support. Some people want to be in melee. No other justification is needed.

I don't honestly care about builds, so the inf would just be spread out among even more alts.

... you're aware you can make a poll on the forums, instead of going to a mystery site, right?
