Do we really want to use those settings in this age of IOs to determine "risk," though? If anything, you'd be punishing people who can't run at those settings, while encouraging those who can to just farm them over and over. There's also other issues such as team size to consider there. Honestly I'd probably just leave it alone.

Hmm. Had I mentioned these: One who's a (in RP) video game character who seems to have shown up to fight crime. Bright colored catgirl with a mallet - Catty Whompus. Ghost of a student from somewhere - School Spirits. One I get some comments on, usually there to assist during mothership raids. Dark/Pain Corr - Rez Dispenser. Necro MM, Bill of Wights. Only elec affinity I have, Shock and Ow. Had this thing with cats - Fel Lynne, Feliney Assault Feliney Mischief Medikitty (because med kits are a game thing, of course)

Time to enforce the name holding expiration rules
Greycat replied to Kazuuk's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Though, any of these ratings (yes, even "just straight up dumb," as someone might have reason to really love a name like CoolGuy4723) are 100% *personal opinion and/or taste.* I cringe at seeing xXxSome NamexXx - but it might be a theme someone else has carried over from games since they could first name a character and it's their "thing." Does that make it good, ok, or bad - or none of my damn business to rate? Personally, I'm going for the last one. -

Captcha to Access Forum?
Greycat replied to CrudeVileTerror's topic in Website Suggestions & Feedback
FWIW, I've got somewhat slow access, and we're seeing some slowness in general at work, so there may well be something else going on on the greater internet that's triggering whatever sort of traffic kicks the Cloudflare screen. I've had it come up several times, once with a captcha. Not a bug, and the nuisance would be from whoever's screwing around jacking up traffic, so... -
Oh, nobody's saying not to suggest it. 🙂 Just pointing out where the current roadblocks are.

Time to enforce the name holding expiration rules
Greycat replied to Kazuuk's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
An active player should be at no risk, period. I've got a lot of characters. Some I play more than others (that poor, neglected Praetorian.) Sometimes I think I've played one more recently than I have. Some I have on characters that, if there were a "person" AT with nothing but travel powers, I'd make them one of those - they're 100% RP drop in / advisor types (on which, yes, the name *is* important*.) I already have one job which pays. I don't particularly want to turn part of a game (one which encourages alts, especially) into another one just to "prove" I'm not "sat there for the name alone." *Granted, I *highly* doubt anyone would be interested in the names. But it's the principle, and it's also not unlikely someone *could* come up with the names on their own, too. -
While I don't disagree (on the first bit) since I like having more options, I believe the issue is that the number of - let's say "nodes" - to do things on characters are very limited. So the - I think it's six? - makeup options have to share the same "space" as masks. (This limit is also why we don't have, say, "leg sheath/holsters" and/or "arm sheath/holster/gear" that isn't tied directly to bottoms or tops, for instance.) At least that's how I recall it from the live devs. Whether the way we're getting more asymmetry is at all related to fixing or getting around that, I'm in no position to say.

Um... What, exactly, are you reading in his statement that says anything about "wrongdoing?" Wrongdoing would be "Someone is logging into other peoples' accounts without their knowledge and renaming their characters so the name is freed," for instance. In which case, yes, he should talk to the devs and admins. His statement, though, is that the problem (as he sees it) is the names "Locked behind inactive accounts." While you can (and I have, somewhat) argue that he doesn't *know* the names that usually lead to this sort of thread are on inactive accounts, that's not an accusation of any sort of malicious activity. It's a simple statement which, yes, does make logical sense. There are accounts that are not being used. Those accounts have characters on them. Those characters, as part of the creation process, are named. Those names are removed from availability (locked) until/unless something is done to free them up, whether it's dev action or the account holder coming back and renaming or deleting them. There's a huge gap between that and "wrongdoing is being done." Pretty sure you can see that gap clearly from orbit, it's so wide. -

Why were the Echo zone beacons removed from bases?

Doc Delilah's, I think, grants it. I *don't* think yin's does, but could be wrong. -
Anyone in the SG has invite permissions - so that entire picture up there, as well as myself. 🙂 (Think I have Tanker 2004 in, too.) Give a shout on the global channel if you see someone.
-
Yep. Check back a few posts. 🙂 Went with "we don't have issues." And 0th - I don't remember if mine gave one right away or not, but they will (should) eventually pass you off - think I went from Azuria to Paco Sanchez.

Weekly Discussion 81: The Player-Market
Greycat replied to GM ColdSpark's topic in General Discussion
I have yet to buy a player on the player market. I have no idea where I'd put them. With my luck, I'd clear a nice spot on the shelf and find out they're claustrophobic. All right. Market wise... honestly, I think it's fine. I don't have billions, sometimes finding things is a pain, yes, but it's a player market, not an NPC vendor. The main issues are technical - - Lag, at times, finding/filling things. - The infamous "not showing the proper prices/price crossover" bug. It would be *nice* if there were a way to access them in bases, as it's a popular request, without the issue of having to load the database in every time (as I recall the explanation being.) I don't know how to get around it, though, so... The pooling of items (whether it's just all common salvage into the pot, all ENHs of a type together, etc.) is - well, mostly a godsend. On live I seem to recall purchasing at "off levels" to get a deal sometimes, but it was in general more of a pain. Much better here. Only other thing I can think of really is - even though I've taken full advantage of it - I'm not sure why WInter packs are 25m versus the others at 10. I generally don't see what I get out of them being 2 1/2 times better. But, eh. If that's my biggest complaint or question... -
On and off at various times during the day. (which is why everyone has permission to invite others to the sg.)
-
Tanker2004 is in "We have no issues" now. Everyone is going to have invite permission. I know, I didn't give everyone "spend raid points," don't get out the pitchforks. 🙂 But there is a vendor in there to snag TOs from if you want. Also, I'd forgotten - yay contact in steel! ... Who's sending me to kings row! ... to fight COT on the rooftoops when I have to hoof it up there!

Greycat replied to Flashtoo's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
*nod* I think the one I'd used most often (about when I notice I haven't picked it up some other way) is the unlock for science store in Brickstown. -
... man, I haven't used Rest so much in a long time. Also, look at all the civilians run... and fill up the map. (While it's not "issue 0," I remember bank missions being horrible with this on COV's release.) And yay, level 10!

... what, you don't think toggle guy up top there is realistic? 😄
-
I think the last question is the big one for this - does it still exist *to* bring back. I wouldn't argue with seeing it.
-
True. THis guy was just created on test, I wasn't even tackling incarnates. And I *think* Shadowy would disable Cloak of Darkness, wouldn't it? (the whole 1-stealth-at-a-time thing.) Though I really want to find something to let him hit 20 toggles now...

I don't recall Portal Corp sending us "across time," though it can certainly deal with time moving at a different *rate.* But the magic thing is even more of a point - we *have* explicitly magic-themed teleporters (standing stones, fey rings, etc) as well as "generic swirlies." They wouldn't necessarily follow the same rules. -
*chuckles* I wasn't criticizing you. It's just that they went from one extreme (stiff) to the other (boneless ragdolling.) I wouldn't argue with a middle ground, it's just likely more work than we think.

YOu don't ever see them, OP? It might be from people putting no-FX options on - in that case, Mystic Flight and regular Fly look the exact same. Same with Speed of Sound and Super speed. I know I see (and use) them a fair bit. Probably less with Experimentation - not really fond of the sound setup for speed of sound.
