  1. If dialog wouldn't fire off early, it'd be nice - there are instances where the hostage *does* have dialog, but you have no idea where it's coming from. And, frankly, there's precedent - after all, the last glowies (in theory) are supposed to show up on the map. They don't, always, but it does make the game less frustrating. Having this happen when there's one hostage left you're searching for would not be new and it wouldn't hurt. This is not a matter of "making the game too easy," but making it less *frustrating.* I'm sure we've all gone through multi level maps multiple times just to find the last hostage tucked behind a hard to see stairwell. This isn't fun, this isn't proof of how l337 you are, it's an annoyance. It's not a question of game knowledge or mechanics, and there's no skill to learn. This is simply "did something spawn in a really annoying, hard to find area."
  2. Very little of anything in the comics is in the game, mission/lore wise. And some of us do care very much about the COH lore. That said, from context, I'd say Switchfade was talking "the source material" as in comics in general.
  3. So. I like running the first SSA. It's quick, on either side, nets a nice number of merits, any character can do it. There are differences between the hero and villain sides, though. Mission 1 - you can get away with no combat at all redside. Blue, you have to fight the mage. You get the choice. Mission 2 - PPD and Igneous, but generally it's all window dressing. Three clicks and a quick fight. So far so good. Mission 3 - Heroside, you fight Lemkin with some of Synapse's powers, two Igneous minions. Echidna and two random COT (at base settings, solo.) Not that hard. Villainside, you *get* Synapse's powers, fight Lemkin, then fight five waves of heroes/longbow/heroes. Which, ok, fair, you didn't have to fight in the first mission at all. Both sides can be done (each) in 7-12 minutes, if you rush through it. So what am I complaining about? You are capped at level 20. You may be lower level if you're not 20+. Which for the missions themselves... no problem. But in kind of a d*ck "devs hate villains" move, at the end of the villain arc, if you don't exit *immediately,* a 35-50 Phalanx comes in to wipe you out. Nothing similar happens heroside, of course. How did I find this out? Ended the mission, got the reward, started answering a question I noticed in help, got a boulder and a few blasts to the side that insta-killed me. Now, no, debt's not a big deal, and fortunately I wasn't doing a "hardcore - death = delete" type character, but this is frankly unnecessary. It doesn't move the story forward, it doesn't add to it, it's not a challenge you can stick around to fight (remember, *you are, at most, level 20,* and they're a team of 35-50 AVs.) It's not fun, and it's not funny. A popup saying "Better get out of here, the phalanx is on the way and they're pissed" would be enough. Basically... can we just get rid of this post-mission middle finger?
  4. Don't assume. I'll regularly go there to street sweep, even aside from explore badges, and I've had RP groups use them as appropriate settings. Frankly, I find redside's *lack* of zones an issue that leads to faster burnout on that side.
  5. Ahh. Yeah. That would be a PITA. 🙂
  6. Udder Barbarian? I think I've seen that character...
  7. You know, when I read this I was reading it (the initial one I replied to, not this specific post) as a response to "so create an NPC or an option that drops *you* down to zone level.* Is that not what you were referring to with what I quoted on the opt-in bit? Or was I reading that wrong? Since if it was, I wouldn't call "just go to the trainer to be exemped down to the level" creating... pretty much anything but a menu choice, and can't really see the argument. If it *wasn't,* then I completely misread what you were saying.
  8. To be clear, a "claim all" on item type or "claim all" for everything in character items? The first, I'd be fine with. The second I could see causing problems (some things, as I recall, get activated as you claim them, so if you wanted to say "oops, I want to email that to this character instead," you couldn't.)
  9. No, they don't. We already don't. For some people the "game" is being min/maxed and running things at +4x8. For some it's PVP. (which already can exemp you and has at times *vastly* different rules.) For some it's base building. For some it's casual soloing. People already play different "games" in this world we're given. This being implemented wouldn't hurt you in the slightest.
  10. No idea how difficult it would be, but I wouldn't mind.
  11. Off the top of my head, and not just counting Solarverse's, there were icon changes/fixes, logo changes, a few costume changes, and power effect changes scattered around. Heck, look around and there's probably one that has everyone running around naked, because of course there is.
  12. Well, I was. Just polished off a reuben and some fries, so....
  13. ... but everything asked for was completed. Unless you have soemthing that needs confirming for updating?
  14. In some zones, you can kiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiindasorta do that now. Go to Skyway. Talk to the contact for the first SSA. You're 20. Some stuff in zone is now kindasorta a threat for you. Don't even need to get Ouro involved. This, I think I could go for. And yeah, probably at a trainer.
  15. Well, thanks. 🙂 Yeah, come to think of it, I'm kind of surprised as well, though other than vidiotmaps I don't recall much discussion *of* mods in general, which probably led to that situation. So hopefully we'll see some repackaging done to use this.
  16. Hmm. As I'm reading (and seeing) it, it's only finding mods "installed by this tool." Is it possible to have it look for already installed ones? Granted it probably wouldn't have the names and such, but I've got (for instance) Vidiotmaps and the PB sound restoration on, which are unseen by this. Or would I just have to find the zip files and have it install over the top? (Which shouldn't harm anything, since it's the same files, granted.) Edit: Re-reading, it almost looks like they'd need to be repackaged with info for the program to see. Is this correct?
  17. Just noticed the thread. Have to say I loved my EM/EA brute on live - even after the ET change - but absolutely *hated* it on that exact combo on a tank. Maybe because I played the brute more like a heavy Stalker and was more interested in punching single harder targets...
  18. People were perfectly viable and survivable before them, and before there was side switching available for heroes to get to them, so... yes. There is no power or pool that you must have or you will not be viable.
  19. Well, at least *1* death - you *can* rez right in the same cell the first death broke out of, should the RNG hate you. And yes, I agree the mansion doesn't. My point is that yes, if we're looking at bad design, there's another place that you can get into this same sort of bad ambush situation. (Hell, this is the same situation that contributed to me not playing Guild Wars - where you get killed and the thing that killed you can stand *right on top* of the rez station. At least here we don't get death debuffs making it even harder to kill them.)
  20. Did it count the initial five merits you should get and not the bonus amount, or none of the 20? If you do an SSA afterward (I like 1, it's fast,) does it count those five?
  21. Your replies indicate otherwise. Even Coyotedancer basically reiterated the relevant point.
  22. Read. The. Rest. Of. The. Post. Which describes where rezzing in a jail cell does *not* equate to 'relative safety.' Hint: The most relevant point has a "3" in front of it. Though 2 is also worth considering. Regardless, this is another point where depending on what's going on ("triggering alarms in the pawn shop" plus "someone ran back and triggered more longbow ambushes" is rather a perfect storm, especially on a low to mid level, mid to large team) yes, you will get killed and have ambushes sitting there while you rez. Having the ambushes not lock on to you there (say, until you reenter the pawn shop, or at least wait until you're out of the PPD station to lock back on) would be a huge improvement.
  23. You're willfully ignoring the other things mentioned frequently throughout this thread, and even in my own post.
