  1. Heartily recommend you not start trying to tell people who can and can't, or should and shouldn't, post. And whose experience should anyone base their opinions on other than their own? Fire/spine tanks would like to talk to you. Or brutes. Or scrappers. Or /rad. Ever hear of CEBR? It was a farm type on live for a while, designed because a claws/elec brute (C-laws E-lectric BR-ute, thus the name) could make short work of low level enemies n a farm - as in single digit levels - and farm *very* effectively for a while. They haven't removed those powers - and thanks to level availability changes, more powers like that are available early on. So, pretty much all of melee is not "in the lurch," given the number of powersets with AOEs like that - that's ignoring cones, that's ignoring Khelds just spamming Nova AOEs (also single-digit-level.) And what would the OP's suggestion get us? Basically... visual spam. A bunch of single-hit enemies with little to no XP to make up for it, eating up the target cap. And I'll go from *my* experience - even ignoring the gas clouds they leave, the Rikti Monkeys are this already... and I hate seeing mobs of them standing around. Since they're not *worth* the time, but I do have to clear them - and that's when I'm not on a MM, where I might as well prepare to dismiss and resummon pets instead of trying to wrangle them from wherever they've gone (but that, again, specific to the gas clouds. Though, what else are these other mobs going to do in theory? Explode like cadavers? Something else?) About the only characters of mine I could think of *loving* this wouldn't do it for "making you feel super!" as the OP thinks it would (and what if you're not *supposed* to be?) but my Warshades. Group of quickly killed underlings filling my Mire up and jacking up my damage? Or my Eclipse and capping resists? At little risk, since I'd be teleporting in, firing off what I need to and killing them? Cheaper than inspirations! And if anything *does* hit me, I've got a bunch of Stygian fuel there to top up health and END. (Mind you, I'm talking just lower to low-mid levels. As many other characters get higher, they can get the same sort of "surround with enemies and buff" - especially in the dark armor/dark APPs. Dominators /psy has also been notorious for its AOE buff to regen/recovery... which I'm blanking on the name right now.) If this were a *single player* game, I'd call this much more doable. Fitting, even. Even squad based, where everyone's at some sort of balance - thinking, say, L4D's survival modes - it'd fit in. But here, where you can't just say (for instance) "A controller will...." because all you have to do is switch what secondary you'er putting with what primary can radically change performance... I don't really see it.
  2. I'm not sure I'd want a melee character to stop. Though, granted, I don't tend to have a target on "follow." This has been a staple (including the "drifting past, though the attack is actually underway") for me for dealing with enemies like Protean (avoiding his AOE buff/heal) or (say) a PB getting the first strike on a Quantum/Void. I'd be wary of any adjustment to the behaviour on "follow" breaking it when not. It would have a *decided* effect on survivability.
  3. Any, really. I'm more interested in the player being fun to play with. If I wanted to worry about numbers, I'd have gone into accounting.
  4. Take your power off of auto so it gets rid of the shield, for one. No reason for it to be out when you're nowhere near combat (ok, I suppose it could be a permanent part of you, but it doesn't have to be that way by default.) Besides, shield's the only powerset I know of that can turn walk into baywatch-run. That said, wouldn't argue with other stances for it. *shrugs*
  5. While helping someone out, we noticed that offline members don't show up for player created chat channels. While this is fine for regular members, for admin purposes being able to see who's "in but not on" a channel could be helpful. There's also a command, channelmembers, which I thought would help - but it also just shows who's on, even as admin. We've already got other channels (such as global friends and SG) that automatically show a full member list, whether they're on or off. The name's there, just greyed out. Would it be possible to do the same with player created channels, at least for admins - at least as an option? Other channel management slash commands would be useful as well.
  6. For masterminds, at least, I use the keypad at the side to map control macros. And the server bar (which you can turn off) does have more use - Kheld powers show up there, temp powers from trials will show up there, etc. Stuff which you may need access to without filling in other slots. I could see maybe using ctrl-alt-something as an additional keybinding option - not sure why it isn't. I don't *think* caps lock can be used that way though.
  7. I'd second the "form one the way you want and invite people along." Even if you don't want to lead an SG long-term, you can find like-minded folks and turn it over to someone you trust will keep it the way you had in mind.
  8. You assume there were people in the zones... Honestly, though, any buffs/assists should take into mind what *kind* of NPC we're talking about - a rescue or a hostage. Rescues (even redside, there are a few "hostage/kidnap" missions that they really present as "Hey, no problem, I'm coming with you, it's better than them!") would be far more willing to follow you, while I could see some rescues (and some of the "rescues" blueside are more arrests) can try to slip away - it's even in some of the redside dialog - where you have to re-subdue them. ... and yeah, no +per for the "helpers" - they're suicidal enough on their own without being able to see a target to run after two rooms over. >.< (Just give me a "Thanks, but I don't need your help/it's more important to get you to safety" option that sends them to the door or something.)
  9. As in someone from Indom getting into someone's base on Torch? I doubt that's possible, honestly. However, I *would* like to see people be able to export/import bases and/or share them that way. Someone makes (say) a nice, basic house or apartment layout, or warehouse, lair, military camp, etc and offers it to the community and others can have it imported to their base, then customize to taste. (Obviously without enhancements, etc. being able to be transferred. Which, I believe, is a separate database anyway.)
  10. Tell me you have no idea how much work goes into a game like this without saying you have no idea how much work goes into a game like this.
  11. See: Every "successor project" started right after sunset.
  12. You want to feel short, look at some of the base items like the original SG tables... if you could actually *sit* at them (they certainly weren't easily spaced for it,) the tallest character would look like a 5 year old at the grown-ups table and have to shout across to be heard.
  13. Rikti: third faction. Discuss: not often. Factiions: Restructurist. Traditionalist. Nudist. Nudists: Not political. Trustworthy. Hiding: Nothing.
  14. ... which, while not a "I like the entire map" thing, does have an easter egg for some unfinished content. If you look at the "oil slick," it forms an Eye of Horus. It was *supposed* to end up tied to the Blood of the Black Stream and Gadzul Oil.
  15. And this is what player notes and the stars that go with them are for. 😉
  16. See, that happens *now* without - I was going to say rewards, but I really want to say "bribes" - already. And in ways that vet levels don't really reflect. F'rinstance.... I have multiple accounts. There are some characters I have on all accounts - specifically to have them available. Some are 50+VLs, some aren't 50. Mostly to facilitate having them available for RP - storytelling - regardless of who else/what else is needed. Or, I have characters who have spawned entire sets of characters, *just* to keep telling or exploring where a story can go. Especially if Incarnates don't really "fit" them. They end up getting Incarnate stuff unlocked, VLs, tons of salvage, etc. anyway, but that doesn't help my attachment to them. The Kheldian alt that I created to extend their story does. The "What-if" redside variant does. The variant made because a more appropriate powerset or customization came out does. The "Tell you about my character? How much time do you have? Are you in a comfortable chair, have water - this will take a while..." does. And it's not really reflected in VLs. Especially when it comes to characters remade from live, where even *if* we could import them from a live character DB, they wouldn't have VLs to reflect it. And of course, all the time spent writing, or hanging out RPing, that doesn't generate any XP to reflect in VLs either. It's sort of like my thing with prestige. Big number does not really translate to quality.
  17. Also used in the Trapdoor mission. As far as my favourite? The map in the Eden trial, full stop. Not used (or really sensible to be used) anywhere else, nothing else even comes *close* to it. Every time I run Eden (admittedly rare,) I end up taking screenshots. Other maps, you can kind of see "oh, this piece is familiar, they used this there, too," and it makes sense from a "reuse assets for missions" way. The Eden map looks... sculpted. Part of me wishes we had more giant, unique setpieces like this. The rest of me can just *guess* how much work that would be...
  18. I think "Hell no" sums that up fairly well. There's nothing that needs *yet more* progression of these already overpowered abilities. On top of that, that would penalize people who enjoy playing alts. Besides, what's the upper limit? We have one person on Everlasting (Veracor) who's in ... hell, I don't know WHAT his vet levels are now, but given he was consistently leading Incarnate trials, raids, etc. I wouldn't be surprised if he's manage to hit six digit VL by now. He was in the five digits (I think the last I checked he'd hit 35000+. And that was many, many months ago.) Yes, he's an outlier, but the point is it's perfectly *reachable* with someone focusing on one character. I'm sure there are farmers with similar numbers. Going with your sort of progression, should they be firing off maxed-out Judgement every second with increased damage, super-powerful lore pets, etc? Let's go with "keep playing characters because you like them."
  19. No reason to delete it - decent information if anyone wonders in the future.
  20. I don't think I have a problem with "button mashing" on any of my sentinels. Can't really see this as needed, or even particularly useful QOL.
  21. Not using mobile (hate trying to squint at those screens,) no VPN, not incognito/private.
  22. Given the popularity of "I hate this look" threads, apparently, maybe it's time for this. Powersets that are nothing but stat changes. No effects, no animations, no model replacements. No personality or theme to them at all. Generic icons in the tray and in the status window. You want a look, you now have complete control - just use the tailor, where all auras, shields, etc. have had their effects moved to. Armors - since the devs found doing a "choose the power" a royal pain, we get one Defense set, one Resist set. And that's what they're called. Armor: Defense and Armor: Resist. With a fairly generic set of armors, mez resist powers and the like inside, which themselves have thoroughly plain names (Auto: Defense, Toggle: Smashing/Lethal Defense, etc.) For the sake of people being able to tell what's happening in PVP, icons might appear overhead there. Controls - Same thing. We already have standard Sleep, Stun and Confuse indicators. You'll have to infer things like Holds and Immobs from watching mob actions. Buffs: Some people hate having their costumes hidden (even if they're surrounded by mobs and can't see them anyway.) So - no buff graphics. Some things already show numbers, such as heals, so you'll have that. Otherwise, keep an eye on that status window. But hey, that costume will be visible, I guess. Naming's the same - we're trying for themeless after all, so "Teammate: Defense," "Teammate: Status resist" and the like. Debuffs: Since toggles tend to be delineated with auras, probably an all click-debuff set. *Maybe* they'll have to have some circle on the ground showing the radius of an area of effect on a mob, but otherwise, going with standard generic icons when defense or resistance is down. Blasts: All blast effects in the tailor. Or you can go with no blast effects. There's no secondary effect - damage will probably be a touch higher to compensate for this. Though they'd have to introduce a generic damage type, I suppose. So yes, you could take no effect and just stand there with damage occurring. (PVP would probably have to have an arrow or something briefly to make up for the lack of other effects.) Melee: See blasts, with appropriate range. Powers like "Melee: Light," "Melee: Medium," "Melee: Heavy," "Melee, cone," "melee, PBAOE," "Damage buff" and the like. Side benefit would be *all the stuff* in the tailor now.
  23. I'm going to say it's the taunt or something. Just took an Illusion controller into boomtown. High enough so they don't just aggro on me, large enough groups to easily find a bunch of them to confuse. So far, it's been a 100% explosion rate. Sometimes delayed as the Embalmed decides what to do, sometimes hitting or puking on something first. But every single one has eventually "armed" and exploded. (Edit: Making sure I try both Embalmed Cadavers and Embalmed Abominations.)
  24. I've a hard time believing it's cookies. Given it *just* happened again. Hadn't cleared anything, there's nothing that should be keeping it from keeping my preferences. I just want it to *stop prompting all together.*
