  1. Just a few random thoughts while reading through this. No particular order. Primarily on the base and prestige bits. - Don't forget, Prestige was "free" under - I think it was level 25. You could be in SG mode and not lose whatever INF you were making. It then ramped up 'til at 50 (or earier... 40? It's been a while) if you were in SG mode, you wouldn't be making INF. -- Which also had, for some, the effect of encouraging (or demanding...) people stay in SG mode. Occasional rumors of people getting kicked after when they realized they had to make a choice. -- Also, at least for those of us around at the time, they also provided a - probably more massive than intended - injection of INF when we could have trial accounts. I know I made something like four accounts filled with serial-number type names, since we not only got prestige for the first (20?) people in an SG, bu tthey were going to *grant* prestige for SG members. And I know I'm not the only one - it's the way we *finally* got to actually build things. - Bases were also tied to PVP, and were a bit of a failure there. Not only was the system... wonky, to say the least, which turned people off of it, but people didn't want to spend time on it just to have it wrecked in a PVP match (and if I recall spend prestige to fix it.) --And of course there's the "get and risk losing an Item of Power for a SG buff" which... I don't think worked properly during live. I don't think I ever ran on or saw offered a Cathedral of Pain trial on live.
  2. If that's all it is, it can typically be enabled in BIOS. It's generally not turned on by default. There are also hardware versions you can buy, but... not spending money on something that can just be switched from off to on.
  3. Couldn't say. There are a few different types of lag/latency. Driver updates and the like aren't a bad idea. (Hell, I have a friend who's not in game because, for some reason, COH *shuts down* his new computer - still on W10. Been trying things to resolve *that* for a while. It's only COH.)
  4. No, not even close to correct. I solo this repeatedly, on every AT, with no escapes the way I described up above. Think the only thing I haven't run it on is a VEAT. The only differences tend to be how fast stuff gets killed - which affects how many static groups you can defeat between runners. I actually *wouldn't* run this on a team, at least more than a duo. Larger mobs = more chance of some slipping past.
  5. No difference here. (And I can go from a W10 to W11 machine to compare.)
  6. Let's keep the scammy fake money and even scammier NFT stuff as far away from here as possible. I'll keep my imaginary money purely in game where I don't have to pretend it's anything *but* imaginary. "Imagine it's your job to train people to play?" Hell no. I already *have* a job. I gripe about it a bit, but I like my job. I also like being off the clock, and playing for the sake of playing. I'll answer questions in help because I can help someone, not because I need to be doing it. In short, the only NFT I see being "minted" with this suggestion is the reaction No F'ing Thanks.
  7. "Villain" does not mean "hair trigger mass murdering lunatic." Honestly, I wish I could toggle *off* the "can kill civilians" bit in mayhems. Most of my red (or grey) siders wouldn't do that. If this were enabled, I'd (A) want to toggle it off, and (B) have the heat keep getting turned up on you the more civilians you murder.
  8. /screenshotui 0 : Don't show the UI (trays, etc) in the screenshot. Typically default. /Screenshotui 1: Show the UI.
  9. Does that count as scenery? :D
  10. Hmm. Well... >.> Though I do like these...
  11. I start with exactly what you're seeing. "Meh, I don't really want to play... anything." I play something else (whether it's a game or guitar) or just do other things. Of course, for me as an RPer there's more to "the game" than just "go in, click buttons, get XP/Inf." I'm chatting with others on discord, so my *character* keeps developing and in touch with people even if the in-game avatar isn't getting yet another 5000 merits this week.
  12. This, though I generally get it for names (Rez Dispenser and Pebbles Go Bam Bam seem to get the most comments, honestly.) I'd rather have someone say it because hey, they liked it and wanted to say something than have something show up in their face they may feel obligated to fill in.
  13. *winces* Sorry, but I'll be honest. I cringe whenever I see this sort of thing. Plus, personally, I'd just close the box and not say anything about anyone. I'll keep my player notes to myself. This just ... sounds and feels like an unneeded drama trigger.
  14. Wasn't criticizing. :)
  15. I like it spicy. *shrugs* Occasionally that means spontaneous spaghetti combustion. :) Well, technically the player base has been making those decisions, given the source of SCORE and HC devs, but that's nitpicking versus what you actually mean. And yeah. We have a population. When I see some of the "make me uber" suggestions come through (even if that just means insta-50,) all I can think about is the "god mode" cheat codes on some games, which yes, *can* be amusing for a time... and then, at least for me, means I stop playing it for a while because it's lost all its interest. (Other than tweaking medium laser values in Battletech so I can keep money in the bank, because that *far* outweighs Darius's constnat "We're nearly broke!" "Our nest egg is running low!" "We're almost out of cash!" No we're not, we have several million in the bank, shut up!)
  16. *cough* ;) (Older topic, granted.) I think they'd probably have to be PL'd to some point, but I admit, I'd do some silly things. Dark Armor/Inv, with pool attacks of course. Or Inv/WP. Just odd armor/armor combos. Fire Armor/Rad Armor? I'd be curious to see how people reacted to playing something like DP/Katana. For laughs, if the graphics carried over? Crab/Luminous Aura. See a Dwarf wtih Crab legs... yes, Crab/Crab.
  17. It's a question of server philosophies. HC's trying to show themselves to be good, thoughtful stewards of the game. Others like throwing spaghetti at the wall and seeing what sticks (and what bursts into flame.)
  18. 1. by default, Print Screen (PRTSCR) will do it. Some people say they have issues with this - I haven't, but I don't keep this in the default directory Windows wants to put things in. If you're using the Homecoming launcher, there's even a button on the top for Screenshots so you can find it. (And if you click back one breadcrumb on the top once it opens your window, you'll be in the main game folder. Useful if you need to get to /accounts and dig into chat logs, for instance, if you're saving them.) 2. If you're trying to capture something like a dialog box or window (which it sounds like,) /screenshotui 1 will capture the screen and windows. /screenshotui 0 will turn that off. (And just plain /screenshot will also take a screenshot.) 3. For some things, the game won't capture it (character select, tailor screen, etc.) I seem to recall the Windows print screen is ... iffy on that (works sometimes, other times you get a black screen.) Something like the snipping tool Windows comes with (Mac has something simliar) can capture that.
  19. So, messing with a base that's (finally) more decorative again. More a setting than anything. And I'm remembering a few of the little annoyances that I'd really love to be able to have options to deal with. One is clicking to move/adjust something and, despite having it highlighted, despite having your mouse on it, having the editor decide "No! You want this other thing over here!" Now, granted, if you move it, you can ctrl-Z now. But I moved a grass plate (a level down below the "floor" (raised structure) a few dozen times when that was *definitely* not what I was trying to adjust. (This is a bookstore. Tweaking the position of shelves = move shelf. Select next shelf. "Dammit, not the grass again..." ) I'd love to be able to select an item and, once I have it right where I want it, click something to lock it in place and make it unable to be selected by clicking. (If you have to undo that, it's still in the "current room" tab - which, yeah, for large, large bases can be a pain, granted - and you'd be able to unlock it there.) The other thing - and I know this has to have been asked about at some point - is to be able to designate a set of items as a group. Say, the chalet rafters and beams, or a wall of books, or the various catwalks and other fences and railings we have. Some things are easier to set up on the ground and adjust, then raise/rotate/etc. to where you want them.
  20. Event salvage - for now, ignore. It's things like halloween and winter salvage used for rewards (costume slot, etc.) for those events. Ignore converters and catalysts for now. (Drop the converters on the auction house if you need money, learn about converting stuff later.) If you open up your enhancement tray, you've got 7 trays that can hold 10 enhancements each. They'll start filling in, either from stuff dropped during missions as you defeat enemies or enhancements you craft, from the first tab to the last. If you're spending INF and salvage and recipes are being used up, they're in there somewhere. Sell off your (non IO, non Hamidon, etc. - just the standard SO) enhancements, move the rest to the auction house (don't sell them unless you want to, this is just for storage.) Your enhancement tray should now be empty. Look for recipes ready to craft. If you craft them, they should start showing up in enhancement tray, tab 1. Find some that are grey. Click to open them. They'll tell you what you need for salvage - just buy it from the auction house. Craft the ones that look useful or interesting. You'll be using up salvage and spending INF, but they should be showing up in your enhancement trays.
  21. I can get others to build. When I have the time and energy, I can build - somewhat. But part of why I like this idea is just for those times I'd want a spark or starting point that I can take, get some inspiration and start to modify, on top of just the "I want a base layout that looks nice but I just don't have time / am having issues with the editor/etc."
  22. Eh. I think we'd see... maybe a month as everyone tries it, the badgers get their badges... then they'd be mostly empty. Not fond of having the PVP zones only accessed through the arena, though. I like easy access at level like it is now.
  23. Honestly, if you just want to stay in human form... play human form. Given IOs and such, you can buff yourself up fairly well and/or perma things (Eclipse being up, Light Form being up, etc.) You'll be accessing more 4, 5 and 6-slot set bonuses as well from not having to slot form powers.
  24. Now? None, really. Maybe a brief wait. Back in the day of 1.1m debt caps, less content, etc? It meant a slog for my "how many levels with how much debt?" blaster trying to get from the mid-late 30s to 40 so I could get contacts again.
  25. ... What's the difference? It's in Suggestions, it's there for the devs to see and determine themselves. .... see the rest of the thread. This has been brought up already.
