Wanting to tank Hami with a Regen Brute - need build
Menelruin replied to Childzplay's topic in Brute
And for added fun, I just noticed something wrong with both my version of mids, AND the game.....it's showing Shadow Maul as accepting PBAoE sets in both descriptions, but it won't actually accept them....on the bright side, Ragnarok is looking good! EDIT: NVM, was too low level.....but that still doesn't seem to make sense to me.... -
Wanting to tank Hami with a Regen Brute - need build

On Torchbearer, we tend to have a full league go at Hami every night, and one of the 6 teams is comprised of a Tanker with a slew of Defenders/support. We always kill a bunch of mobs for EoEs first, and I also keep a bunch emailed to myself for an emergency stash, so I'm set for those. My goal is to make an idealized Hami tank (with EoEs in use), so that all other leaguemates are free to focus on DPS. This'll also help if my SG wants to try to do our own Hami runs, as we may not be able to count on a full League for that. -
Wanting to tank Hami with a Regen Brute - need build

In terms of how far I'm willing to specialize: 100%, all the way. I'm working on a toon for the sole, hyperspecialized purpose of maybe tanking Hami WITHOUT needing support. The problem with slotting Reconstruction for Resist is that for the non-Toxic attacks, my only "defense" is to heal as fast as I can specifically with Reconstruction and Siphon Life; those two powers are the only real protection against everything other than the Greens. That's why I just scanned for a build that had lots of healing potential in those two powers, then piled on as much Haste as possible to try and heal faster than Hami could damage me. That was my IDEA, anyway....I'm not good at making builds..... EDIT: Also, I'm thinking I should ironically mostly skip the various healing procs, as they won't help against Hami. DOUBLE EDIT: What's probably a good benchmark to aim for in Toxic Resist? -

Any suggestions on fixing those? I did a quick scan of Paragon WIki, and most of the Slow Resist sets I see are PVP only..... Also, I think Toxic Resist tends to only come from 6-slotting sets, doesn't it? EDIT: Ah, I see Winter's Gift. Maybe I should give up the Concealment pool and lose a LotG, to pick up Fly, so I can use Winter's Gift? I assume I should hold on to Blessing of the Zephyr in Super Speed.... DOUBLE EDIT: ARGH, but I need 16 KB protection total from Hami, don't I? I'm only up to 14...... -
Wanting to tank Hami with a Regen Brute - need build
Menelruin replied to Childzplay's topic in Brute
So while that massive file of builds didn't have a dm/regen BRUTE, it did have several SCRAPPERS....so I just scoured for the one that looked like it made the best use of both Reconstruction and Siphon Life, then made some minor adjustments for Brute instead. Sadly I don't think there's an Epic pool for Brutes that has a Defense power, and there's limited power pools, so instead of getting both Leadership (Manuvers) and Soul Mastery (Shadow Meld), I just went with Concealment, so I could pick up 2 more spots for LotG, via both Stealth and Invisibility. Sure their stats are weaker, but at least it gives me 2 mules in a single pool, without having to get an extra power like Flight would have. Can you guys please let me know what you think? EDIT: In particular, I'm thinking of taking some slots from Instant Healing and putting them in Reconstruction..... Brute - Dark Melee - Regeneration.mxd -
You know, someone already posted an idea for a rifle-based support set....what if we made it something akin to trick shots? Shooting someone's weapon hand to lower their damage, or their kneecap to lower their speed, etc....

Another vote for WP/SJ. Just a dude who's too freaking stubborn to die.

While cool ideas, they go against what's called the "Cottage Rule," which the dev team tries to adhere to. They prefer to maintain the core concept/function of powers, rather than completely replacing/reimagining them. The idea behind most T9s seems to be, as someone said, an "emergency button".....something to take your defenses/resists above and beyond what's normally achievable. The problem is it's not MUCH higher than what a level 50 player can have on ALL THE TIME......
-
Because the cost (the crash) isn't worth the benefit, relative to what you can achieve WITHOUT it. Hypothetical comparison, that I'm not actually suggesting. So Unstoppable isn't worth the crash, right? Let's say it somehow magically raised your resistance CAP, so that a Tanker could have 99% resist while it was up. It would see more use, right? Because it would open up the ability to do things that can't easily be done WITHOUT it, thus being worth the crash in order to power through a challenging fight. Maybe it's that tiny bit extra that lets you survive Recluse until his towers are down, or hold off Tyrant even if you get caught in the lightning. It doesn't last long, but it doesn't HAVE to. At lower levels, there would be a bigger discrepancy between what you can do with the T9 and what you can do without it, thus the relative benefit is greater, and potentially worth the cost.
-
Exactly. Hence my suggestion of making the current T9s available BEFORE people are able to get continuous benefits that make them virtually obsolete. You don't use the T9 just ANY time, you use it during a boss fight when you'd die WITHOUT it, so that hopefully the crash comes AFTER you win, when you have breathing room to recover.
-
Or they'd just be careful about WHEN they used it.
-
I did a slight variation that dropped OwtS to pick up Taunt, and it's tough as nails.
-
So, crazy idea, but hear me out. The idea of the T9 armors by and large is to get that burst of short-term power you need for an extra-challenging fight. The problem is, by the time you GET your T9, you've often already gotten sustainable benefits that are nearly as good, anyway. What if instead the T9 was available SUPER early on, so that when your defenses/resists suck anyway, you can still get that burst effect for a little bit, as like a taste of what you're going to grow into? The fact that low level recharge enhancements aren't that strong, means you wouldn't be having it up very often, as a way of balancing it. A level 32 SR tanker looks at Elude and likely shrugs and moves on. That same character at level 2 would look at it as a godsend. (I'm semi basing this off of another MMO I used to play, FFXI, where every class had an amazingly powerful ability from level 1 onwards, but only usable every 2 hours real time.) Thoughts?

Super Reflexes: Quality of Life Improvements
Menelruin replied to modest's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
A weird idea I had for a T9 before would be something like Glancing Blow or Roll With The Punch: If something gets past your defense, they have to beat it AGAIN for full damage, or else some damage reduction applies, as if your character wasn't able to FULLY evade the attack, but was able to twist at the last moment to at least minimize the damage. It wouldn't raise Defense in and of itself, but would at least give SR a place to slot for Resist Damage sets. -
Just curious if anyone has done this combo. I imagine fitting in all the needed powers would be tight....

I overheard this.... Supposedly Gerudo often visit Hyrule Castle Town to find boyfriends.

IMO absorb is EXACTLY what FF needs. It's thematically appropriate, and doesn't step on another set's toes too much.

Wanting to tank Hami with a Regen Brute - need build
Menelruin replied to Childzplay's topic in Brute
Does anyone have suggestions about sets for easily raising toxic resist, then? My mids-fu is weak, but I've noticed it seems like toxic/psi resist are generally only an effect on sets when you have all 6 pieces.... -
I use a Fire3 build I found on these forums, "Honest Abe's," which skips all the blapping and focuses on ranged hoverblasting.
-
The problem with the cottage rule is that, pretty much by definition, it makes FF pointless at Endgame. The entire theme of FF is to buff defense....and by the time Incarnates roll around, it's pretty easy to cap anyway.
-
IMO as soon as they figure out how to do "negative knockback," FF needs to have a crush/gather power that jams enemies within a certain radius onto a single point, making it easy to herd them for other folks to blast. They also need a sort of "Force Cage" power where you have a circle radius at an area, and any enemy who tries to cross it gets knocked back towards the middle. Like a ring of mini versions of the Earthquake pseudopet.

Wanting to tank Hami with a Regen Brute - need build
Menelruin replied to Childzplay's topic in Brute
@Sura this is the other thread I mentioned. -
For Hami? From what I'm hearing, it's a lost cause to try and get your passive Regen rate up high enough....Hami will drive it to zero very quickly. I could be mistaken. Imma tag you in the other thread.
-
Yeah, like apparently Dull Pain and some other powers, including the Rebirth destiny, are tagged as Resistable, so Hami knocks down their effects to basically zilch. Same for green inspirations. Reconstruction in the Regen set is "unresistable" though, so it still works. Same for Life Steal from Dark Melee. That's why I'm currently hunting for a DM/Regen Brute build......
