  1. IMNSHO, talking about "Need" with regards to Taunt for Tanks misunderstands both the point of Tanking (soft combat control). Tanks without Taunt are like petless mansterminds. CAN you do it? SURE! Like fighting a boxer with one hand tied behind your back.
  2. I agree about the ED stuff. However, my personal little foible/conceit is that you're using Fighting as a mule pool, you're better off taking Kick rather than Boxing. Differences in damage output are negligible. And kick allows you to sneak in a Force Feedback proc. Sure, it only a tiny speed boost. But it's something USEFUL to to your whole build, rather than just dropping in a damage proc without real augmentation. Consuming valuable slots and set bonuses that can be shoe-horned in elsewhere.
  3. I can't speak to the Damage choices. The basic build is a generally nice "safe" place to feel out your options though.
  4. The best way to make your own personal decision is to take a build with Soft Cap or Incarnate Soft Cap defense and then experiment to see what works with your personal play style. This way you can make the decision in relative "safety".
  5. Ah. A hero concentrating on crime and PUNISHMENT!
  6. HEY! I want a quarter every time you use that!!! 🤪
  7. The basic concept of Def/Res/Regen(Heal)/Damage Output still exists. It's now more that there's fewer incentives to focus on one aspect to the exclusion of all others. It's possible to bring all of the above in a single character, successfully. As such you now have LOTS of options to kick ass and decide whether you need to know their names...
  8. Devil's Advocate: So, the ability to specially craft a build that negates the inherent means there's exactly ZERO use to the Inherent for anyone else?
  9. The one gimping them is the player. Not the designer.
  10. But gang war produces something like 10 henchmen per instance. Double gang war? I'll let you do the math.
  11. Full agreement. A decent single-chip solution. Not a HUGE fan o the X3D solution. But the performance bump exists. But the 7800 is a single CCD solution so less "Grunt vs Gaming Performance" choices.
  12. My current rig is a 16 core (32 virtual core) AMD CPU with 64GB of RAM and an RT 3070 Ti. All drives are PCI-E M.2 SSDs. Running 3x 4K monitors in Portrait mode with desktop fusion. Essentially running 6K-ish resolution. Currently unless I'm running more than 6x FSAA, I don't really see a problem, but I don't really notice much more at that high a resolution, so no real need to step "up" to "Stupid" mode.
  13. Yeah. Was looking at Threadripper and Epyc. Couldn't justify the price increase. Even a 16 core/32 thread 5950x is already grotesquely powerful.
  14. Have said this for years. Unstop is not an "FU Click" It's a suicide button with a short delay.
  15. Not losing my shit between 2008 and 2024...
  16. Battle Ax and Mace are virtually identical, save for damage type. Ax: Lehal Mace: Smashing
  17. I'm hating 16x9. I REALLY prefer a taller screen aspect. This is why I have a triple monitor setup with all screens in portrait mode. (Long aspect vertical). Having to deal with it right now as I've had to fall back to a 4K laptop. And I'd have this problem on a 4K TV too. The only thing that makes it MILDLY usable for me is I crank the FOV ALL THE WAY UP to 90 (max). It delivers a very slight "fish eye" look. But for things like ship raids? It's utterly invaluable when I need to zoom all the way out (400) and want to see as much as possible. I've grown so used to it, trying to crash around in default FOV is just that. Nearly un-navigable for me anymore.
  18. Quick and dirty? Simply plug in the Energy Melee secondary and begin kicking ALL THE BUTT.
  19. Honestly, I've played Stoners of all sorts. And I had my fun. But with the current iteration of the game, there's NOTHING you can do with a Stoner with IDENTICAL (or better) stats that something like a tricked out Invuln can't do identically (only FASTER).
  20. Let's just say I am unsympathetic to the "Let the stuff move around" crowd. They're exploration badges. Not bughunt badges.
  21. I'm running a 16 core Ryzen 9 and an RTX 3070Ti at 6K resolution. IT ROCKS The CPU was latest gen when I bought it. I do a lot of high volume CPU intensive stuff at work. Having had to drop back to my 4 core. 8 thread I7 laptop has showed some of the system's deficiencies... The GPU I probably couldn't have justified had I not had an "in" at NVIDIA. But I did...
  22. And I preserved an account with 41 50's. because the original person died.
  23. Pfft. Piker. I'm currently sitting on 51 Lvl 50's on my primary account.
  24. When you have to start a 5th account to contain all your 50's with most of them being mildly cosmetically different (because you only have so many costume slots) with absolutely identical builds. That's about the time some might suspect there could, on an outside chance, be a teensy tiny problem of Altaholism.
