Honestly, I would say Sentinels - you have armors and status protection, so the new player wouldn't have to worry about being mezzed, and the ranged attacks mean that said player wouldn't have to worry about chasing down enemies as much...
-
I mean, you can get Rikti weapon models for axes, so you could conceivably play a member of The Lost or someone otherwise early in the stages of the changes they undergo. I suppose I could see them as some sort of Epic Archetype, with little needed the way of new asset creation, though...

The problem with regen has always been HP pool + regen rate vs rate of incoming damage. If the former is greater, you win. If it's not, you lose. I like how the sentinel version gives you extra base HP and some absorption. Perhaps the brute & scrapper versions could have IH turned into a toggle that also acts as a taunt aura, (though that may be stepping on Willpower's toes a bit too much).

Game loads with only pink/orange screen with sound
biostem replied to SuperFee's topic in Help & Support
Just out of curiosity, was it setting the laptop to use the discrete GPU or updating the drivers that did the trick? Either way, I'm happy to hear you got it working! Cheers!- 10 replies

City Of Heroes no longer works... causes PC to crash
biostem replied to graeme27uk's topic in Help & Support
Yes - please provide some details & specs for your computer. Perhaps use a program like hardware monitor that can monitor your temperatures and CPU/GPU load. Make sure your drivers are up to date and close any unnecessary programs as well. Perhaps try the -usetexenvcombine program switch to launch the game with a simpler renderer. Cheers! -
I wanted something a little slower-paced which is kind of a throwback to older-style games, so I picked up Warhammer 40K Mechanicus. It's a fun game, but has some odd mechanics for a turn-based strategy game - almost feels like a "Choose your own adventure" at times...

I wonder if debuff values could be tailored to only affect, say, a Corruptor's blast powers, while keeping the lower values for their secondary sets. I'd also reiterate my belief that there should be a chance for scourge to proc as soon as the enemy is down even a little health, (instead of kicking in only at 50%).

Does the laptop have multiple GPUs? Some have a 2D "normal use" GPU, and a dedicated gaming one. Can you provide the make & model of the laptop?- 10 replies

The hardest part, IMO, is getting people past the hurdle of this being an MMO that doesn't have some of the QoL features that they may expect from more modern games. Don't get me wrong - I love CoH, but as I'm sure is the case for many players here, our ability to work around or see past those lacking features is second nature at this point. Simple things, like being able to rotate our character model on the costume creator with just a click and drag of the mouse, or being able to zoom in and out of said character freely with the mouse wheel, simply aren't present. As for which server to play on - I say just try whichever you like - character transfers are free, anyway...

I would like to see scourge given a flat inverse chance of kicking in, based upon an enemy's remaining health - so 90% health, 10% for scourge, and at 25% health, 75% chance for scourge to take effect, etc...

Heroes had dark powers long before CoV was even released, so I think we can move passed the whole "MMs are evil" thing. That being said, I think some sort of "mystic or fantasy warriors" set, along with pet customization, would solve these issues; Have 2 of the T1s use a sword & shield, with the 3rd using a mace/hammer & shield, plus some sort of heal other ability. Have the T2s be archers. Have the T3 be some sort of ranged damage/control/buffer. You now encompass so many different ideas & concepts, Angels among them...
-
Possibly, but it'd look really weird lobbing a grenade or spewing out fire. As silly as it sounds, it may fit better if used as a weapon-replacer for beam rifle attacks...
-
I would absolutely love MM pet customization. That being said, I think a generic "fantasy warrior" set, which can be represented as Romans, knights, Samurai, what have you, would be fantastic! Have the T1s be sword & shield warriors, (perhaps with the 3rd being some sort of "cleric" with a hammer/mace, shield, and heal other), the T2s be archers, and the T3 some sort of wizard...
-
I'm just working off of the history of previous MM sets; Soldiers, thugs, necro, etc - all use unique models. I'm not against the idea of using existing models/assets in general, I'm just working off of established precedent.
-
I'm all for more MM options, but I imagine that they don't want to go with direct imports of villain groups for the power sets.
-
Honestly, it'd be easier to simply offer crossbows as an alternative for the pistol weapon models, then to try and rework all archery attacks/powers into using crossbows...
-
Are you using any of those programs that change the hue of programs to make it easier on your eyes or anything? Maybe try taking a picture with a smartphone or external camera for reference...

Returning player apparently with amnesia of game mechanics
biostem replied to AroneousMentor's topic in Help & Support
Welcome (back)! Try this: /t charactername, yourmessagehere You should be able to create a new chat tab, (I think you can right-click the main chat tab and select 'create new window' or click the little + icon). Select "private messages" or something similar from the left column and click the arrow to add it to the other one. Some badges have other bonuses/functions - check the Wiki for more info. What color are the enemies that you are fighting? The amount of XP you need to level up can feel like a big hurdle as you progress - stick with it or try teaming up. You can look for teams running higher level content to see how you fair... Do you mean the "enterbasefrompasscode" thing? I think you have to be within like 10' of the actual base portal or something similar, now. I think your best bet is to search the forums for a list of acronyms or initialisms... -
But with everything in there, you'll never be able to find the specific piece of salvage you're looking for...
-
The -usetexenvcombine switch drastically lowers the resources needed to run the game. If you're just going to have a character sit at a door or follow your main character, (perhaps with a power on autofire), then that's all you need...

That is not my interpretation of the chain of events, after re-reading Snarky's and then your posts.
