  1. First, let me say you have very valid points. However, while compromise would be a good thing, here is why I am still not doing so. If the toggle were implemented, and it did not affect persistent KB powers (thank you by the way for that simpler way to phrase it), then immediately after there will be a push for the persistent KB powers to also be affected by the toggle. And it would be much harder to say no because now there would be a precedent for doing so. Which again brings me back to my other suggestion: tweak the set or create a new one. The biggest, and only complaint I've seen so far, about Sudden Acceleration is that it is an inferior set to the sets players would rather slot. As far as I can tell, no one is really complaining about the set bonuses, just the specific enhancement bonuses focusing so much attention on KB when the set is aimed at changing KB to KD. So I would rather visit that instead. Change the Sudden Acceleration set so that it does not focus on boosting KB. Let its specific enhancements replace the KB components with something else instead. The set bonuses would remain as is unless someone could give me a *very* good reason why those should be changed. It would still be a KB set, but the specific enhancement bonuses would be more useful since the set would no longer focus on boosting KB. (To change it to non-KB set would require a name change and change to the set bonuses to be more in line with the damage sets, most likely.) Or, we could come up with a new non-unique damage set similar to Overwhelming Force, but with weaker elements for being a non-unique. My point is, we already have the means of mitigating KB for those that don't want it. And this entire thread steps on the already provided means. There has to be a compromise, yes. I don't feel this is the way to achieve it. Especially for appeasing people that are so inherently against specific power sets that they can't even comprehend how KB players with at least 2 functioning brain cells not out to troll the team can help the team or at least not get in the team's way. (And yes, I get rather emotional about this. Because dealing with those players lights my fuse at the wrong end. They are one of many reasons I prefer to play solo. Sorry.)
  2. You are either missing or ignoring the point. It is not the 1 enhancement slot that makes it OP. It is the bounce mobs in place on a damage field unable to fight back. The KD component. Not the enhancement slot. Edit: So yes, for some powers, KD is way better than KB. Edit again: And again, if the set is such a bad thing for everyone, then let's tweak the set rather than try to get a free advantage.
  3. As far as the "absolutely nothing is being taken away" bit, you are absolutely correct. That is not the argument. The argument is the free advantage. Currently, if you want the KB powers to be that improved, then you have to use the enhancements. And the OP wants it for free instead. As for it being a quality of life change? No, it is not. As has already been stated, it is asking for a free advantage for those powers. In this case, specifically powers like Tornado and Bonfire. If all you have to do is toggle off KB, then 1) you are taking away from the KB-KD sets we already have rendering them completely moot, and 2) can with no need for anything slotted turn those powers into AV/GM slaughtering beasts. (Unless they have KB resistance and can ignore being juggled in place for continuing damage.) As for the rest of your post? I couldn't care less how other players build and play their characters. (You know, except for some pointers to help me do as well depending on the character.) As long as they are having fun and not stepping on others' fun? More power to them. Go nuts with your characters. In this case, there is a group of players that are so anti-KB, often without thinking about how it can benefit them and the team, that they are stepping on others' ability to play their characters and have fun. And this thread, and the others before like it, are asking for a way to power up their characters while catering to a group of people that feel like anyone playing a KB character is some kind of troll, idiot, or other demeaning label of a player. Which makes them trolls in my book, but hey, I'm weird like that. As I said previously, I played my energy/energy blaster on a PUG. They griped initially, then they shut up because I knew to leave the anchors alone and I only went after single targets to avoid upsetting them. As I have also previously stated, I've seen anti-KB teams kick an energy/energy blaster because of KB, but be perfectly content with an AR/anything (even energy) blaster joining the team. And when the AR knocks mobs? You know what they said? Nothing. They said absolutely nothing about the AR having KB. So at least to me, this is not a KB issue. This is a 'some players are simply against specific power sets' thing. So yes, I am against this suggestion for all the reasons I have just re-stated.
  4. What makes it no fun? (And how do you get it for free? I could use a few free sets of Overwhelming Force....) How about instead, the KB-KD set Sudden Acceleration is tweaked to be more desirable instead of a free advantage from a toggle? I've already made this suggestion in this thread. And it has gone either unnoticed or ignored by those calling for a free advantage on their powers. Even if you prevented the powers that weren't heavily improved by the toggle from being affected by it, there would still be an uproar from those that want to get the free advantage on those powers too. So instead of trying for a free advantage, maybe try coming up with tweaks to the existing sets or come up with new sets to make people happy?
  5. That would probably be the simplest approach. And is basically what CO does. Though I keep hoping they will assign a costume slot to the MM pets so you can actually customize them. Edit: And by assign a costume slot to the pets, I mean a costume slot each pet would have, and not one of the player's costume slots.
  6. He isn't complaining about chocolate overdose eve. He's talking about the tiny troll they call Baby New Year. Edit: I think....
  7. I don't actually care either way. Is why I had not posted until now. It is the constant posts from the author and no others that has me confused.
  8. There are two posters other than yourself. Two whole comments on this thread that are not you. Out of 13 replies. 14 comments counting the OP. Seems like you are talking to yourself. If you are still trying to figure the set out, maybe finish figuring out what you want and then re-post?
  9. It would certainly help. I still question the design of a set that has Knockback enhancement and then turns KB into KD, just because the set works against itself inhrently. It kind of defies logic. Then pose a suggestion to the devs, make a new thread, to discuss what would need to be done to make people accept Sudden Acceleration as a set. Because it already provides a non-unique way to turn KB into KD. It gives good set bonuses. Propose tweaks that everyone can accept that makes the set not work against itself. It would need to stay Sudden Acceleration in the Knockback pool in my opinion. It would need to keep the current set bonuses. Replacing the KB components to make it less a band aid and more a desirable set for the naysayers would be on the table for me though. Probably not all the KB components, maybe just 2 or 3 of them, but making those changes should not upset the community. I hope. Edit: Then again, I've already stated and proven that I'm fine running with sub-optimal sets. So I honestly don't get the aversion to Sudden Acceleration.
  10. Here's a thought I posted on the concurrent other KB-KD thread. What if Sudden Acceleration was modified to replace some of its KB with damage or endurance reduction? Would that help people? Would it make the set more appealing to those claiming it is a tax and have them use more than just the proc? Edit: What is the plural of "hiatus", anyway? Hiatuses or hiatus.
  11. You are still ignoring the set bonuses. Scirocco's Dervish gives a 10% regen bonus, then a 2.25% energy/negative resist bonus, then an accuracy bonus, then 2 defense bonuses. To Sudden Acceleration's movement bonus, max endurance bonus, universal DAMAGE bonus, hit points, and recharge. The reason I chose Decimation for the comparison is because they have similar set bonuses. Even using Scirocco's Dervish for a comparison? The sets are competitive. You're contrasting different bonuses, which is a non-equal comparison, but the overall benefits are comparable. Just looking at the damage, which is the biggest difference. Sudden Acceleration increases damage by 1.661 times. So the 83.4 damage Power Bolt then does 138.5 damage. If it could slot Scirocco's Dervish, it would be increased by 2.21 times for a total damage of 184.3. (Edit: And that factors in the procs' 71.75 damage.) That may shave off a hit. (When the proc procs.) It may not, but instead shave off half a hit. Chase numbers all you want. Max out your numbers. That's fine. The differences are not so great in the end. Could they be better? Yes. Does it make sense to bolster KB by 111.54% if you're just going to convert it to KD? Not especially. The set is not useless though. It could definitely stand to be tweaked, but it is not useless. And being unwilling to slot the set because not doing so may save you anywhere from half a hit to 1 hit? Well, I guess I just play differently than most. Edit: I could see asking to have Sudden Acceleration give less KB bonuses since the set's proc converts the KB to KD anyway. Sure, ask for that. Convert the KB/Recharge or the KB/Accuracy to a Damage/Recharge or a Damage/Accuracy.
  12. Nope. Not that way. I use all my costume slots on my characters. Not giving up slots for my pets. And the devs have already said they are not using that other server's method of pet customization, that they will find their own method.
  13. See my comments on the thread originating this thread for my response to the uselessness of Sudden Acceleration. I disagree with the author's opinion on Sudden Acceleration. I disagree with everyone that thinks Sudden Acceleration is an enhancement tax. A new set that gives a KB-KD proc may be helpful. And if it were a damage set like Overwhelming Force, then maybe the naysayers for KB will be satisfied. However, since Overwhelming Force is a unique set, the new damage set would have to give lower bonuses or Overwhelming Force will suddenly be ignored.
  14. That is for a different server. Thunderspy or some such I think. HC doesn't yet have pet customizations.
  15. As you said, it is a knockback set. So sure, all the non-proc enhancements have knockback. To call it useless however? 2 enhancements gives a universal 7.5% movement buff. 3 improves max endurance by 2.25%. 4 buffs all damage for the character by 2.5%. 5 improves your hit points. 6 gives a 7.5% recharge buff. People screaming the proc is the only thing in the set and that they want their set bonuses from the damage sets ignore that the set bonuses from Sudden Acceleration competes well against damage sets. Take a look at Decimation. 2 enhancements gives a 1.5% energy/negative energy resist buff. 2 gives a smaller hit point buff than Sudden Acceleration, but you get it earlier as compensation. 4 gives the 2.25% max endurance buff that Sudden Acceleration gives one slot earlier. 5 gives a 6.25% recharge bonus. 6 gives a 4.5% toxic and psionic resist buff. I chose Decimation because it gives most of the same set bonuses so they can be contrasted more fairly. Sudden Acceleration gives a damage buff, better recharge buff, and a better hit point buff. Decimation gives resists. Two different groupings of resists. Otherwise, it falls short of Sudden Acceleration. And on top of that? Sudden Acceleration has a damage component to 3 of its enhancements. So it is far from useless. Edit: And it says Suden Acceleration gives an equal damage buff from its single enhancements as Decimation gives with its damage buffs from its single enhancements. A triple effect enhancement with damage as one of the components gives a 19.3% buff for both sets.
  16. I could get behind a non-unique damage set with a KB-KD converter. Sure.
  17. By everyone, I was saying everyone opposed to this idea that I am aware of. I should have been more precise in my comment. (Even though I have been told multiple times to stop being so precise in my comments.... Just can't please everyone. Oh well.) Edit: And by the way? I have been on PUGs with KB haters on an energy blast blaster. They typically don't complain because I pick an outlying target as my own and work my way in. Except for AVs where I would blast them into the nearest wall to (hopefully) bounce them in place to avoid stepping on KB hater toes. I never learned @Greycat's trick of KB'ing mobs into the tank (that we didn't have). Edit again: I've also noticed KB haters seem to complain a lot less when the KB comes from say AR. They still complain depending on the knocked target, but they don't scream or whine when the AR joins. It's only kheldians and energy blast/melee that they do any real whining about. So that tells me it is less the KB and more the perception of the sets.
  18. Another claim that using a set is a enhancement tax. You didn't use those words, but you are saying the same things. Here's a(n admittedly snarky) thought: Use the set and not just the single enhancement. It gives bonuses too. Saying using this one enhancement from a set prevents you from getting set bonuses is a very poor argument. You're saying the set that enhancement is in doesn't give set bonuses. As has been said in so many KB-KD threads I have read, the way KD changes KB powers is a huge advantage. Like the Tornado and Bonfire no longer throwing mobs away, but keeping them in its damage effect constantly falling in place. You do not get that for free.
  19. 7 years shut down plus a couple years of volunteers trying to address the plethora of bugs the game still has. Yep, been years alright. Been higher priorities too. And this from a MM player. They have said they were looking at that. Odds are, it is not a priority and they have already stated they won't use that other server's version of it. You must not have read the notes. There are fixes for the mercenary set. Including the powers the pets in the set use. Not just changing damage types.
  20. KB to KD already exists. Use the enhancements. A toggle that gives you the advantage of the enhancement is what everyone is opposed to. That was stated in this thread.
  21. Didn't even think of the scaled radios/papers using the zone appropriate mobs. Good point. I was honestly just assuming the papers/radios would use PI/Grandville missions, just in the other zones. That doesn't really make any sense though, now that I think about it. Yeah, I'm starting to have a less favorable view of the OP if the papers/radios still use the zone's actual radios/papers with correct mobs. Unless it also forced you to exemplar/malefactor down. Which might be a better option.
  22. The only higher level one on the list is Cimerora. Anyway, was just saying there are other options. I like to check out other zones too. I do flashback missions/arcs for those, but I do understand. Flashbacks don't allow people to join mid-arc and some may need to bail in the middle of the run. So I do get it. Was just tossing out some ideas. Like I said, I'm undecided on the post. Currently more in favor of, but still undecided.
  23. Unfortunately, vigilantes are coded as heroes and rogues are coded as villains. It's why some blue side contacts won't even talk to a rogue except to say stop being a rogue. So the alignment system would need to be changed. Aside from that problem? I like this idea. Edit: Or as an alternate option, just copy their respective missions to each other. Just rework them to be more villainous or heroic as necessary for the respective contact to have.
  24. I thought that was the goal of most suggestions on the forum? To make the game as easy as possible so they can say they want it made harder so they can not sleep while playing it. I'm probably just reading most of the threads though. (This comment is not aimed at this thread specifically. I don't use Empathy, so I have no say in what happens to it.)
  25. There's Borea in the RWZ for repeatables. Though they are timed. There's Grandville's paper missions for repeatables. (Just talk to Null the Gull if you need a quick alignment change.) There's Ephram Sha for blue siders and Maharaj for red siders in Dark Astoria for repeatables. There's Marcus Valerius in Cimerora for repeatables. And that is just for simple repeatables. Ouroboros has several short arcs teams can run. They even have single-shot missions. There are more options than just running around PI. I'm not saying I'm against this suggestion. I honestly haven't decided if I care either way. Just saying there are more options than running PI radios.
