Thoughts on a recharge speed inspiration?
twozerofoxtrot replied to BLVD's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I see people farming threads. Just to go to Luna in Ouro. To fill their tray with nothing but Super Recharge Insps. .... I would be one of them. So I can't decide if I'm for or against this. -
The Airlift Badge strongly implies that Praetoria (the city) supplies other intercontinental locations. Without further explanation of the political relationships (outposts? vassal states?) to these other places, we're left with only guesses and material ripe for artistic development. My guess was always that Hamidon was abiding to the agreement with Cole. Why the Hamidon attack on First Ward even happened I'll never understand but then again First Ward is a bit of a mess anyhow. Some of my favorite writing in the game, but certainly a bit of a mess. Also, I think the clockwork help burn away spores with their flamethrowers? I could have sworn I've seen NPC flavor dialog suggesting this. Or I'm confusing it with Nausicaa. TwoDee is a treasure. He was hugely instrumental in helping orient me to Praetoria back in the summer 2019. I stopped playing well short of sundown, so I had a lot of lore ground to cover and he was like a literary Sherpa. I've also never seen him make anything short of an insightful comment, in general. An easy mistake to make, since if you roll a character at level 1 and play through the content, you basically help stop the Praetorian invasion in reverse order; Sutter before TinPex. I don't know if there is a good solution to this? I guess we could make completion of both Tin Mage II and Apex a requirement for unlocking Sutter, but I doubt that would make players very happy.

It's called Brawl. It will be on every character's action bar at level one. It costs no Endurance and you can use it once every two seconds; faster with more recharge. Put it on autocast: ctrl+click, a green circle will appear around it. Now you have an auto attack. Weave your other powers in between until you have enough that it's not necessary. Also, there are vendors called "P2W" that you can get free attacks from which are useful at the start but can be replaced with better powers you earn as you level up. Also, bye.

I actually addressed all these in the post prior. Also let's not be disingenuous with each other, it weakens our own arguments. I'll summarize: - Being picked for a team was not the issue. The issue was that the Tanker was not fun or interesting to play. You could, but you'd be a less-good Brute, and this stood at basically any part of the build spectrum (except perhaps proc monsters? Honestly not sure). My specific example again: if I wanted to tank for a group I didn't use my tanker I used my brute because they did it better. - Brutes are not inferior melee damage dealers. They are clearing faster than tanks. Brutes have higher single target damage as well. Does their damage output match Stalkers and Scrappers? No, but they are also more durable. These are not my original thoughts. I'm only summarizing what I've read from people who have tested and posted results here in this thread.

And I'm of the opinion that they should not. Nobody should tank as well as Tankers. Again, my opinion, but also I think probably the general design philosophy. As to whether they should be doing more or less AoE damage as tankers, I'm not touching that. More savvy testers already concluded that Brutes are clearing faster than Tankers (albeit small margins) so I'm not inclined to believe the impact is as severe as you say. Legitimate? Objective? Pick for your team? Can we go back to how we actually play this game? When was the last time anyone seriously cherry-picked ATs for a team (that um, wasn't a debuffer for Reichsman)? I roll Brutes because they fit a concept. I roll Brutes because I want to be able to bulldoze everything and have fun with an actual attack chain below level 20. I have never once, for any of my characters (including Tankers) rolled them and thought "Oh jeez, will people not let me join their team?" We all understand it doesn't work like that. The only real hang-up for not picking a Brute? You're not going to be the best at 1 thing. Sorry. But it has that in common with a lot of other ATs.

Okay so, first: This was exactly the position of Tankers vs. Brutes before the tanker buffs hit, only reversed. Without rehashing the damage and target cap aspects, the way taunting was supercharged on tankers was absolutely necessary (as were the Fury changes to compensate) because as a Tanker, if I started a group and a competent Brute joined, I might as well have passed star and quit right then. It wouldn't matter if I was double stacking rage, it wouldn't matter if I was chaining Footstomp, Taunt, and Dark Obliteration (ooof my Ends!), that well-played Brute was taking my agro, and soaking the hits, and I couldn't do anything about it. And if they leapfrogged me, the team would just follow them and leave me there flapping in the wind. It was impossible to tank on a Tanker with a Brute around. It got so bad I actually just stopped grouping. Just flat-out stopped, somewhere around early Nov 2019. My Tanker became a badger and that's all I did with her. Solo. Mostly cause she was my most-played and had a lead on badges. If I wanted to tank for teams, I'd pull my Brute out. At least the Brute actually has that as a realistic option. Correct me if I'm wrong, but are you suggesting that the literal namesake AT of the function shouldn't be the primary AT for said function? If Stalkers were called Singletargeters, would it not sound absurd to complain about how Scrappers aren't at parity with them in dishing out single target melee damage?

Weren't VEATs on Live restricted to Natural Origin? IIRC Psionics are considered in the game lore to be "natural." Though, with that said there are obvious deviations like Penny Yin who as a youngster in Faultline is described as using her powers "naturally" but is considered a mutant later on when she shows up in Indy Port. Probably not super helpful, other than to illustrate that the lore is... flexible. -
Is your MM running any powers that might increase healing received? I'm just as confused as you are, and this is the only thing I can think of without being able to look under the hood myself. Just to make sure: you don't have Power Transfer: Chance to Heal Self slotted and are mistaking the green numbers coming from that, are you?

I have been seeing some really impressive damage output from EA/Fire scrappers here and there. I'd roll one myself, but for my passionate dislike of any powerset that takes away from me seeing my character. Also: FWOOSH FWOOSH FWOOSH But seriously: Build Up & Fiery Embrace into Total Focus > Energy Transfer > Bone Smasher > Energy Transfer (assuming a crit on TF for two charges) results in some big numbers.

[Staging] Patch Notes for Feburary 8, 2021
twozerofoxtrot replied to Number Six's topic in [Staging] Patch Notes
Just put it in the ELTFs MOTD. People will come! -
Yeah but you blew your chances when you came back at the devs the way you did. Time to chalk this one up as an "L." The title of this response could be "You can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar" or alternatively, "You have no power here!"

space and time manipulation +stealth

According to my character's slotting, it does take ToHit sets. 🙂 Just coming back around for posterity, in case future readers happen on this thread wondering the same. -
space and time manipulation +stealth
twozerofoxtrot replied to Shred Monkey's topic in General Discussion
Nope, meant +ToHit sets. Just poor wording on my part. -
The way I read the suggestion was that it would still play to increased Mez Magnitude/Mez Protection, but not have an on/off cycle. So it would build as you do damage (as it already does), but would increase your mez magnitude and mez protection across a scale as you reached certain thresholds. While this leaves out the full End bar on Domination activation, it might be a fair trade if the scaling is favorable. Or just add scaling +end recovery to the effect as well. All of this fits neatly in line with the original flavor text for the power: I'm sorry but your response came across as needlessly sarcastic without trying to honestly weigh the merit of the suggestion.

Did this too, really pleased with the result. Basically plays like a Blapper with an AoE hold and pets.

Yes, along with accuracy* and universal travel sets. -
Street Justice/Martial Arts animations
twozerofoxtrot replied to xl8's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I feel like this must be adjustable. Or maybe must have at one point been adjustable. When you use Brawl with a weapon or shield, it will randomly execute the same animation as Kick from the fighting pool; the only difference being the animation time. (imo it look a lot nicer executing faster) -
Minimum or no graphic Fx option for Leadership pool.

Gotta find somewhere to slot those LotG procs! I say half joking-half serious. I have an Ill/Dark/Fire Controller I basically refuse to play because of how terrible it all looks together. -
Hi @Lockpick! There was a post with the rotation somewhere on the forums at one time, I'll come back and edit this if I find the link. But in lieu of that? If you check the LFG menu and sort through the tabs, the trials and task forces highlighted in Purple are the Weeklies for that week. Hope this helps!

My thoughts, as someone who likes CoH but has only surface-level knowledge of comics and very little appreciation for most of the comic-related stuff on TV outside of the X-Men and Batman cartoons from the 90s: I had it on a second screen while playing CoH. When Ep. 4 came on, CoH became the "thing on the second screen."

Generally I'd say superior ATOs are nice to have; like a 3rd option for a purple set (after Very Rares and Superior Winter sets). But certainly not a must-have, unless I'm playing a Scrapper or Stalker. Some builds get the ATOs chopped up just for their 2-slot bonuses. At the same time, with a large enough budget you can really smooth out leveling pains by 6-slotting the basic ATO sets into powers at early as... level 7? I mean, if you've got the disposable income, that's going to be like 1 DFB and you're dropping in ATOs. It's kinda like what I said about procs: I love them, but there's certainly a problem there with regards to just how drastically different the game feels when you're playing with those enhancements.
