The people that find this offensive are the culprits of like thinking. They aren't joining teams to be part of team. They are joining a team to show-off or be a disruption. They aren't recruiting for team and then trying to run away from their teammates. They are joining a team to show-off or be a disruption. Any more like villains that want to step forward and be put on ignore? Because that is what you are to me. You are villains that are trying to disrupt teams that other people have assembled. I don't have time for your obnoxious behavior. Step up, vile ones. You know you don't want to game with me either. Let us be done with this so we can all move on. (I bet a majority of those who do are already on ignore. There are far more cool people in THE CITY that want to game with each other rather than to be obnoxious to other players).

If your leading the team, that is exactly why you should have said something in /team. If you are leading, it your team. Let them know when you have an issue with something. Most people will respect the team leader because they hate to recruit themselves and are just glad to be on a team. That doesn't mean you should be a power-hungry dictator, but, if someone on YOUR team is offending you, you certainly have a right to say something in /team so the rest of the teammates know what is going on. I put what would be considered a lot of people on ignore, but I rarely kick people from teams. I probably have only kicked 2 since in Homecoming and for sure less than 5 (I can only remember 2). And, honestly, I have probably only driven a couple from a team. I have quit more teams because I didn't like what was going on than I have kicked or driven people from my teams - I would say probably twice as often at least. If you joined someone else team, why do they need to state that they expect you to stay with the group? it's not your team. They are recruiting teammates to run with. They aren't recruiting other players to just run around solo. Why should the follow you if they recruited for the team? You aren't the leader. Yes. The leader should realize that they can get someone else to join the team what will act like a teammate and kick you. You apparently are fine on your own. Because it is theirs and it isn't yours. You seriously can't understand that? And, of course, your opinion supersedes the opinions of all the other players on the team. Is that your point? The same goes for you. If you aren't leading, you should respect the leader. They are the ones spending time recruiting to have teammates. If you want to lead, lead it however you like. But you don't sound like much of a leader to me. You seem to be some kind of berserker that joins teams just to run amuck and do whatever you like, Separate by a floor you are no longer sharing xp with the team. If you get too far away from each other you probably aren't sharing xp with your teammates anymore either. There is definitely a cut off distance in the open world. Did you join someone recruiting for a team or looking for more (to join their team)? What the heck did you think they were recruiting for? Some jack Elitist that is just going to run around soloing because he thinks he's the big guano? No. They were recruiting for people to game with not people to go run off berserk and do whatever the hell they wanted to do. If you don't want to be part of a team, quit joining teams. You have made it clear to me that I need to start kicking people like you on teams that I recruit for. Not even going to warn. I'm just going to kick them. They can cry to me in chat outside of /team so I can put them on ignore. Teaming is for teaming. The chat for teams is /team for a reason But I guess that is too obvious to some that feel they are superior to other players.

Ran into this on a task force I was running recently. one or two that would purposefully try to run away from the rest of us to do whatever they were doing. They seemed to be fighting stuff so I didn't kick. I figure they are 50's trying to show how big of a phallus they can be. I guess they really intend to show how Elite or cool they are, but they are really just coming off as jerks to the rest of the team. At one of point two of them running around solo were bragging to each other about how cool they were. Very disrespectful to the rest of the players. It's kind of like that one 50 on a XP task force that decides it's their job to turn the it into a speed task force. In those cases, I have no mercy for the fools. They get the boot. If you want to run a speed task force look for one inviting as a speed task for and not one inviting as a XP taskforce. Don't be a guano head.

I almost always end up getting leadership. I tend the team. The bigger the team, the more of a benefit leadership becomes. If multiple characters on the team have leadership, they stack. +to-hit and + global defense go a long way. Assault doesn't even need to be slotted. If you primarily solo, there is no need to take leadership. You could always make multiple builds if you are into that kind of thing.

I use hurricane and gale. both are passive holds (They can't attack when they are knocked down/back). Hurricane is a AoE debuff so why use it. I did put the KB to KD in the hurricane, but it still will repel enemies. The character is very fun to play, but I have so many characters that are fun to play that it becomes a bi random when I get around to playing them. I guess there is still a little bit of Hurricane Season left, so I should bring at least one of them out for some playtime. Won't be too long before I get to break my spooky characters out for some Halloween fun!

The ignore cap is amazingly low, and it doesn't stop you from adding someone; it simply kicks the player longest on the ignore list off the list when adding a new one when full ... so you have to be watching for it to see it happen. But, even with all the ignoring I have done, I don't think I have every had to put anyone on ignore twice. Never been power-leveled to 50 before AE. Never been power-levelvel to 50 in an AE farm. Never intentionally didn't complete a mission order to farm it. Never door-sat. Never enjoyed the Praetorian content. Never been an elitist. Never enjoyed the end-game. Never enjoyed the incarnate system. Never completed a "full circle" through alignments through Tip missions (other than through Nul the Gull, i think I did it once out of prompting from a teammate) Never understood why players enjoy a team where the effects are so busy that you can't see anything that you are fighting. Never enjoyed a Hami or Mothership raid. Never passed up helping someone that needed help if I thought I could be helpful ... especially if no one else was offering help. Never gave some player that I didn't know more than 10 million inf. Never made a VEAT. Never used Mids Planner. Never asked for build advice in the /help channel. Never installed the VidiotMaps. Never created a character without a bio. Never understood why the Dr Quarterfield Task force needed to be so long. .... wait ... I think everyone knows that the Dr Quarterfield task force is too long .... 🙄

So many classes, but doesn't have the one I want
UltraAlt replied to Diantane's topic in General Discussion
I'm wondering if you have played through the game or if you are getting power-leveled too quickly to have gone through the process of learning how the powers work (individually, in combinations with your other powers, and how the can be a multiplier for your teammates) and how to fight different enemy types. There is always a pivotal enemy type in an enemy group that is their ace-in-the-hole; if you take them out, the entire group is easier to deal with - it generally isn't the boss. Some groups, like the Devouring Earth have more than one. This game has a lot of tactics that experienced players use that may not be obvious to newer players because there is a lot of run-and-gun/bull-in-the-china-shop/Hulk-smash going on in most groups these days. -

except for break-frees or enhancements that provide status protection like Aegis ... and Clear Mind from Empathy defenders and there is a MedPool power that also offers mez protection to others. If you are on a team and getting mezed too often, you are probably standing too close to the enemies, you have ranged attacks - use them at range. Blasters also have :: "Defiance Blasters’ earliest abilities come so naturally to them, that they are accessible even in states that normally prevent them from using powers, such as being Held, Slept or Stunned. Additionally, each time the Blaster attacks with a primary or secondary power, they gain a stacking damage bonus for the next several seconds. The amount of the damage bonus and its duration is dependent on the exact power used, with single target abilities generally giving the largest bonus." - https://hcwiki.cityofheroes.dev/wiki/Inherent_Powers#Defiance They don't do as much damage as blasters because they have armor. Defenders do more damage when solo. When you have a good defender on a team the defender may not be doing much damage, but they are helping the team survive and take out enemies faster. --- I'm kind of getting the feeling that you are nitpicking and don't really want to be playing a superhero game. Are you playing this game because you want to be creating superheros to play or are you just playing it because it's a free MMORPG? -
To me it isn't a waste of time to experiment and I always go with character conception. If my conception is that the character has a shield, they have a shield. If I want them to taunt the team, then, of course, a tank. If I want to jump around and cause damage, then I would make a scrapper. There is obviously no reason that you can't make both and jump between your alts when the mood arises. I've kind of been anchored down by a teammate to play one character with them until we reach 50 - mix-and-repeat - when we game together. I like jumping around and playing whatever I feel like playing that day or the character I think will fit best with whatever team I'm joining. I have a couple of shield characters. I've ended up playing the shield scrapper more than the shield tank lately, but that is mainly because my shield scrapper is a lower level. And back to the start, I say go with your character conception.

All tank sets are built with a hole in them intentionally. Their Achilles' heel as it were. You run into the enemy type that you are weak to and you are going to go down. They have your number.

Elitism is Elitism. If it make you feel Superior, then you are an Elitist. I'll make sure not to invite "dedicated", players to my teams. My teams simply wouldn't be good enough for their elitist attitudes.

I guess we will have to ask the DEVs to create a whole "Suggested Builds" subforum for you. 😁 I figure I have already posted it before, but ... If you have a character conception, just pick your powers based on the character conception. Don't just pick powers because some cookie-cutter min-max says that is the best build. Just because you get the most out of the system doesn't mean it is going to be the most fun to play. The character you enjoy most will be the one you create even if it is modelled on an existing hero/villain.

Kick Chick is kind of along the lines of High Kick Girl.

Lag is based on your connection speed, how far you are from the server, and whatever background tasks may be taking up CPU and/or internet-connection time. Connection speed making a huge difference.
-
The better one is the one that fits your character conception - if that sort of thing is important to you. You have thousands of slots. I suggest making all three. You'll end up playing the one you enjoy playing the best.

But it does appear that this was used for the nobility in earlier times and not the common man as far as I can tell. Anyone that doesn't travel doesn't need something in their name to indicated where they came from. As the merchant class developed, I can see it being more used more in as a place of origin modifier, but that would only work in situations where von is/was followed by the name of a City or Region and not a family name.
-
It appears to be the standard combination :: [adjective] [male/female, animal, or thing] - Superman, Green Hornet, Flaming Carrot, War Machine, etc. -or- [Title] [name or adjective] [name, male/female, animal, or thing] - Doctor Bruce Banner, Colonel Nick Fury, *Doctor Victor von Doom, etc. *von is actually a royalty title meaning "Baron". So it is weird when it is used in this combination but also when "Baron" is use as a preface to Baron von Richthofen. "Baron von" is like "cole-slaw". Both words mean the same thing, but even though they are redundant we use them together for whatever reason. (don't get me started on "coward" verus "cowherd")

MassivelyOP Article on City of Heroes 2
UltraAlt replied to Apparition's topic in General Discussion
Sadly, this does often seem to be the case. -
I would like to have a listing indicating if the player's team size like in the friend search. This would allow you to know if a player was soloing or if there is a room on a team that a player maybe be able to join. An indication of team leader status on the search would be beneficial as well as a player would know who they could send a tell to when looking for a team. A search message of "looking for teammates" or "not looking for more team members" or even a status of both would be helpful.

What is fun? To me the fun part is playing a character I created that fits my conception of the character as much as possible. So the power sets depend on that conception. This affects my archetype selection as well as powers. Sometimes I decide that I want to make a tank and created a character conception for a tank. Sometimes I have a character conception and that conception calls upon the use of a tank. That's what make it fun or not fun to me. I don't think any of the tanker sets are complicated compared to the other archetypes.

I usually try to avoid respec'ing. I even go with some character "flavour" mistakes if they happen, and they aren't really penalizing mistakes. But, yeah, respec'ing is a pain. I guess I shouldn't be shocked that X number of people don't use macros. As soon zone into THE CITY with a new character I load on 5 macros. A Heal insp one I load twice. Primary tray flips between tray 1 and tray 2. And a follow and auction house sort of because I'm lazy, but more so for the follow as I use that in my active tray on melee characters. With the exception of the auction house macro, the macros make it easier to play with a controller as the macros I use help eliminate a large amount of keyboard contact based on the way that I play. I usually end up adding in at least 2 or more costume macros when I hit the Icon - which tends to be either almost immediately or before the character gets to level 10. When the character starts teaming a lot, I end up adding in Gratz, Woot, and Thanks macros. I have over 100 characters and had set-up methods before the shutdown to make all the characters basically play the same way regardless of archetype to make it easier when jumping from character to character. The tray are set up so they all operate basically the same with some minor differences that I have other tray related methods to deal with. But back to the macros, the costumes aren't stored on the client side either are they? I mean- unless you manually save them through the taylor yourself. I know that if you manually save them though the taylor that they are still there as I was able to port those files in when I started playing Homecoming. It would kind of cool though to have a "default macro" folder that would automatically upload those default macros to your character during character creation. Well, it would at least be cool to me. But then I would also like to "fix" many of the Nul the Gull potions through the options or simply have many of the Gull's questions asked during character creation instead of having to run to Nul the Gull because of one or another of the annoying things that Nul the Gull is there to solve.

Don't eat that Yellow Snow.

I can't seem to get into the Homecoming Wiki now for some reason, but there a page listing of base codes there. I think there is a thread somewhere in the forums that list base passcodes as well.

Blame it on the Grinch or Scrooge? The DEVs would be my guess. They love to run around stealing presents and who knows what other kind of mischief, but I wouldn't call that holiday spirit ... maybe that's just me ... If it snows in the Rogue Isles it should be dirty and grit-filled from all the smog and industrial pollutants. More like ashes falling from the sky than snow. Oh, and make all surfaces slippery with a chance of knockdown (like 5% or less - which would be pretty annoying enough I'd wager)
