Well, I was trying to avoid it because .... over used in the Goth community, but ... it seems to be the appropriate response.

I agree. Unfortunately, playing to the mechanic makes playing stalkers feel weird when teaming. I really haven't had teammates complain when I rush away to get my hide on and then run back into combat, but I have felt like I need to alter my playstyle to a more scrappery mode when on teams that I feel isn't really befitting of a stalker. I'm always up for power animation proliferation.

An Overly Long Overdue Return of Roleplay Workshops!
UltraAlt replied to McSpazz's topic in Roleplaying
Hi. I'm not really a part of the RP community (though I always have a bio) and will speak in character if someone approaches me with RP. I don't go out of my way to find it. I also don't go out of my way to dig through all the individual forums looking for posts. I just look at what is recent and check out what I think is interesting. What I find odd about the original post is ... that with all the detail ... it doesn't say where or when it is going on. Why don't you see "server people" in the forums checking this out? One thing is that in most gaming communities less than 10% of the players go to the game forums for any reason other than to ask questions. I think that percentage is higher here, but it is hard to tell as there seem to be a good number of multi-boxers and multi-accounters. There is even a smaller percentage comes to the forums every time they game. I pretty much never look at the Calender. I think you get my point. I can only hope the McSpazz is using /LFG when their workshops are going to to try to gain some traction. -
Yeah, I'm not really sure why it would be hard to put the other 4 legged vanity pet skins on one of these two existing travel powers, but I don't know what programing complications there would be other than simply swapping the skins. I really like this idea. I'm sure there world be someone that would figure out how to exploit it, but, if you were limited to only those powers when in those forms, it seems like it wouldn't be game-breaking. It wouldn't be like you could slot up the powers. It would just be at some set base level. But maybe I stumbled onto it there. I figure you could set the powers to level up their damage, etc. based on the character's level, but that does add a level of programming computation. If it is locked to a level, then you don't want it to be usable by a level 1 to do more damage than a level 1 could do on their own -- if you are concerned with game balance.

6 slot health and stamina? Pros/Cons
UltraAlt replied to shortguy on indom's topic in General Discussion
I have better things to do with slots than to six slot either of them. Honestly, I do 5 slot Stamina quite often. 3 End Mods, Performance Shifter : Chance for + End, and Power Transfer: Chance for Heal I end up 3 or 4 slotting Health. Panacea: Chance for +HP and + End, Numina's Convalescence: 10% Recovery and 20% Regen, and Numina's Convalescence: Heal and sometimes Preventative Medicine: Chance for +Absorb, Regenerative Tissue: 25% Regen, or Miracle: 15% Recovery -
even more so if you can put the Performance Shifter: Chance for +END in the power. Run a couple of the faster-recharging electrical blast powers with Performance shifter: Chance for +End and it is very noticable.

Need help with a concept character
UltraAlt replied to Scarlet Shocker's topic in General Discussion
What about a psi blast/storm corruptor? or a storm/psi blast defender? Storm is sort of a cousin of water. And I see other people are already going with the option of using other power sets and just claiming them to be psi. There is that AE mission arc ... I think it's called Secrets of the Lake -
If you are trying to cookie-cutter mini-max it, then I think you are cheating yourself. I can only talk from my own viewpoint (obviously). I'm a character conception player. I think you will become more connected to your character(s) if you focus on creating a conception of a characters and sticking too that. You are already on that track ... There are lots of different kind of "magical" and/or healers. Support and healer are definitely not the same thing. To me, Empathy is the flat out "healer" in the game. I'd give 2nd place to Electric - electric not only has heals, but buffs and a shield. The "magic" tends to be how you feel about your powers versus what they are actually called outside of the Sorcery pool and the Black Wand (and things like that ...) If your origin is magic, then your powers are magic by default, correct? I kind of think up what I want to make in advance of even going in the game to make the character. I generally plan out the kind of powers I want and the costume. The costume is critical to getting the "feel" of a character conception to me. Sometimes I have used the same character conceptions across multiple characters as the character conception lends itself to multiple archetypes and primary/secondary combinations. Are you making a Fire mage? An electrical mage? A druid with plant powers? Are you a necromancer that summons the undead or demons?! Yikes! The possibilities are there to explore. Embrace your altoholism! Make 3 or 7 or 13 characters and see how the different sets play. Oh, you don't have to do it all at once. Plan them out. Let them fester in your mind. Get at character conception going. When it hit, then make the character. The game has so much to explore. Don't get caught in the mids and trying to be OP. I find it best to just play and have fun. If your plan is just to power-level to 50, then, yeah, go ahead with the mids.

I think it is debatable if the Halloween masks are currency as they are used to purchase a costume slot. I was against the merger of these currencies. I understand why it was done from a DEV point-of-view, but it never made sense to me that the reward for doing good things was equivalent to the reward for doing bad things. I'm sure some of you remember what it was like. There was plenty of influence. Goods flowed pretty freely in Wentworths ... because most of the players were playing heroes, gaining influence, and trading good with influence. People were working together for the good of Paragon City. Meanwhile, the prices were high on the Black Market. Items were scarce. Infamy was fairly limited as well. You could try to sell high because of the rarity, but few had the infamy needed to purchase high priced items. Basically, it's what you got for being a villain. Now that isn't to say that I didn't have villain character back then ... because I did ... I do now, but I still mostly play on the hero side in Paragon City. What? Praetoria? Information? Mean nothing to me. ... is where I'm at and with that I get most of my .... ...through card packs (though I do like hunting Giant Monsters!) And I don't really use Merits all that often because I have enough influence to meet the meager needs of my myriad pre-level 50 characters. I'm sure I'm not as rich as Yomo, but I get by. When it comes down to it there are those of use who give Influence to other players when they need it. Like Yomo GM Crumpet I don't advertise it, but I'm out there lurking somewhere and have been known to help people out from time to time as the situation arises. Now if you are trying to fill out 50's with all bells and whistles... well, then ... you are on your own. If you are a level 50 and you are a "have not" then you built your own cage .... or is that made your own bed ... something like that.... The only thing that forces me to engage in content that I would otherwise not engage in is "friends". I guess there is my Origins Project characters too. Some of that is getting and some origins arcs have been quite torturous. ...and sometimes I forget and join a team for a task force and confused it with another one and figured I had to deal with it to completion once I joined the team ... but that is very, very, very exceedingly rare. Oh, I guess you are talking about grinding. Yeah, I'm not going to grind for rewards if I can help it. The whole point of Prismatic Aethers is something for end-game L337 to grind for. Leave it there for grinding. The L337 need stuff to grind for. They like showing how much they like to grind. Grind on Grinder! Meanwhile, I'll be enjoying playing the game. Plenty of costume parts to choose from. Tons and tons of them that I haven't even used yet. As should be obvious, Influence is really the only currency that I'm concerned with - as with it, I can easily equip all my characters. The Market is the best PvP in City of Heroes.

Keith Giffen (November 30, 1952 – October 9, 2023) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keith_Giffen My exposure to Keith Giffen's work was on the Legion of Super-Heroes as I was a long time LSH fan. I was a fan of the LSH before he worked on the series and long after. As the wiki says: "Giffen is best known for his long runs illustrating and later writing the Legion of Super-Heroes title in the 1980s and 1990s. Giffen and writer Paul Levitz crafted "The Great Darkness Saga" in Legion of Super-Heroes vol. 2, #290–294 in 1982.[6] In August 1984, a third volume of the Legion of Super-Heroes series was launched by Levitz and Giffen.[7] Giffen plotted and pencilled the fourth volume of the Legion which began in November 1989.[8]" I can't say he was my favorite LSH artist. I remember he was famed for his page after page of 9 panels per page. I'm pretty sure that this is an example of that, but I haven't gone back through my collection to make sure this was him. I don't think any other LSH artist stuck to this pattern so much.

I don't disagree with your statement, but ... My point is in line with the original post that a bald option for hats should be available. I think it should be an easy graphical fix. Just remove the hair part from the already existing hat model.

No clipping issue with a hat with "no hair" option.

Isn't what good writers do? Make stuff up instead of copying what other people have done? ... but I think you are more aiming at ...

People have been saying that for two thousand years.
