Weekly Discussion 54: Martial Arts
ImpousVileTerror replied to GM Miss's topic in General Discussion
Honestly, any melee attack with over 3 seconds of animation time should be an Autohit. That, or it caps out your Defenses for the duration of the animation. -
Sounds like we're at the Dunning-Kruger Peak here, folks.

More costume slots is a popular suggestion, and for good reason. It's kind of half the whole point of the game. I definitely support any and all improvements to costuming; whether it be content or quality of life/user experience. But another suggestion to help facilitate more costume options would be to allow a summonable Tailor/Wardrobe, like the Invention Workbench. That would be absolutely stellar! And, as a major quality of life improvement, it would be wonderful if the Save/Load Costume interface could recognize subfolder structures. I'd really like to organize my costumes better. After about 300, it becomes a real pain to track them down.

Weekly Discussion 54: Martial Arts

Another thought occurs, although it might be too "not part of the original design." Perhaps a mechanic where certain Attacks have a chance to instantly reset the Cooldown on other Attacks. Granted, the cooldowns are all pretty short already, so perhaps not . . . hmm . . . -
IO Set Bonuses and Soft Cap Question?
ImpousVileTerror replied to Munqaxus's topic in General Discussion
Set Bonuses are applied after Enhancements' Bonuses, so yes; they are not affected by the Diminishing Returns. Meanwhile, there are Incarnate things which function -like- Enhancements, but ignore a portion of Diminishing Returns. Additionally, the current Proc Rate mechanism functions based on Powers' Recharge, rather than Global Recharge. I think @Bopper posted a rather informative deconstruction of that somewhere. I'll try to track it down. Yup! There it is: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/5290-procs-per-minute-ppm-information-guide/ -
Characters where you took the WHOLE Primary and Secondary
ImpousVileTerror replied to Heraclea's topic in General Discussion
I pretty much always nine-out-of-nine'd on Survival Sets back on Legacy, not fully comprehending the crash of the Tier 9s really makes them situational to the point of silliness. Support Sets I also tended to nine-out-of-nine, unless there was something like Repel from Kinetics (also, for a long time, I didn't take Siphon Speed, since I didn't realize how much the stacking +Recharge helped, and my concept didn't really "mesh" with the running around all silly nilly at high speeds. That's changed now). Lemme seeeeeee . . . Nope. Doesn't look like it. I know some people may flip their lids over this, but I generally avoid the AoE Attack Powers. Cones in particular. Too finicky for me, and I'm not playing to maximize my clear-rate on x8 missions: I'm here to enjoy myself. The crashy Tier 9s also get skipped these days. Any single-target Immobilize Powers, unless I'm forced to take it (Hello Gravity Control) because the alternative is less fun. Any Mastermind Primary Attack Power. Just . . . blah. Such Endurance hogs, and the Prestige Attacks have always been sufficient to supplement my Henchpets. So, yeah. About the only way I'd be able to make an All Nine Primaries / All Nine Secondaries character comfortably would be if they enabled Support / Support or Support / Survival as an Archetype. For the record: I am not against that. That -does- sound like my idea of fun. -
Welcome Home! Things have changed on Homecoming compared to Legacy, so you might find a few things are not as you left them. Like the locations of some Exploration Badges, or the fact that Prestige Powers are now accessible from an in-game Vendor.

[Staging] Patch Notes for April 17th, 2020

Ura Hero? You're a hero. I went to both this and the other thread to try and do what you beat me to. By five hours. Well done! -
I have Debt after logging back in?
ImpousVileTerror replied to Rheinen's topic in General Discussion
On top of that, the Patrol Xp will actually -remove- Debt you had when you log off, at a one-to-one ratio. I'm not sure if SCoRE or Homecoming changed it, but the original Patrol Xp took 10 days to max out. Given that all the other Day Jobs were also accelerated, I wouldn't be surprised if this was also accelerated. -

ImpousVileTerror replied to Neogumbercules's topic in General Discussion
Then why are you "Cat?" OH! OH! Or, wait! Does this mean you're voting for the "why nerd regent jimmy" as the anti-nerf Regen mantra? Ok! Clear as day! Got it! -
Method for Costume/Biography Contests
ImpousVileTerror replied to Arisara's topic in General Discussion
As an anecdote, for the recent Pride contests, we -did- plan and attempt to coordinate logistics. But, as some folks like to say: "No plan survives the enemy." A lot of little things happen and get in the way. We had a specific timetable, but some people didn't end up seeing it in time. And then other people found it confusing. And then the flood of messages in chat caused some judges to miss cues or last-minute changes to instructions. Granted, for the scale and size of the event? Apparently we did a good enough job that even specifically asking people to give criticisms resulted in just "thanks for running this!" (seriously, though, people . . . I appreciate the appreciation, but I really -do- want criticisms. Yeah. I'm one of -those- weirdos who would rather hear what I did wrong as a constructive critique, than just getting thanked. Please.) And then there was the time that my Rikti Monkey Fight Club event got a GM called on us. My fault, for phrasing an advert poorly, but it certainly wasn't part of the plan. So, while I don't know if every event necessarily gets the same level of planning and organization as they necessarily need, I mainly just want to remind folks that sometimes no amount of planning will account for wrenches of the monkey variety. -
Sooo... What's coming up on HC?
ImpousVileTerror replied to Neogumbercules's topic in General Discussion
The way I see it, we only have two options to choose from here. We can either declare "why nerd regent jimmy" as the new counter-meme to "nerf Regen," or We can officially coronate @Jimmy as the Nerd Regent. Anything else would be a grave affront. -
First off, not a "he." Second, if it's all just lines and existing in-game assets, how might someone create the following real-world flags? Third, I welcome anyone who doesn't think people can make obscenities with just simple lines and shapes to consider the simplicity of a lot of obscenities. Taking a stroll in a neighbourhood with lots of graffiti may give some excellent examples. Or a grade-schooler's notebook.

Post your best costume designs here!
ImpousVileTerror replied to ChanelNo2's topic in Art & Multimedia
Welcome Home, @BearWolfJester. -
I'm pretty sure the Psionic Melee / Energy Aura Stalkers are popular since it's a fairly solid PvP Build.

If we introduce such a tool, who curates and moderates it? How many layers of review does it have to prevent someone from uploading something like a drawing of genitalia? At the current server population, I could see it already being a serious pain in the ass for an unpaid position. And considering how cagey the Homecoming Team has been to induct new members over the past year, do we expect that they'll allow such curation to fall in to the hands of just any volunteer who wants to step up?

Its time to lock up Blue Steel
ImpousVileTerror replied to Llewellyn Blackwell's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I wanna take a long while to compose my own thoughts on this subject very carefully, assuming I get the chance. But before I go, one little thing: In my country, in terms of government funding for programmes and the like, "youth" or "young persons" includes people up to the age of 29. -
Brown with a slight reddish tint, yeah.

Weekly Discussion 54: Martial Arts
ImpousVileTerror replied to GM Miss's topic in General Discussion
'lynne basically got to where I was going to go. I played Martial Arts at Launch. It had guaranteed Stun in Cobra Strike, and just generally felt like a better all-around Control'y Melee Set. I liked that a lot! So, if we can't go back to the full value of guaranteed Stuns for fear of also returning Martial Arts to its original Damage values, then yes, please: Make the Control consistent and easily stackable. Let Martial Arts hold that wonderful niche of being the Melee Set which let's a Scrapper (and Stalker, and Brute, and Tanker now too) feel like they're a Controller. I -like- that. Alternatively, making Martial Arts a more self-Buff-centric Set could be an interesting direction to take it. Each Power granting a small benefit such as Recharge, Defense, To-Hit/Damage, rather than just a select few. Every attack flows in to the next by offering a little something-something for 5 to 10 seconds. Also: Previous thread on the topic: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/14417-fixing-martial-arts/ New Control Set idea inspired by Martial Arts: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/19887-new-powerset-suggestion-martial-control/ A little one about the animations: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/17385-kick-storm-kick-crippling-axe-kick/ Related discussion comparing Martial Arts to Street Justice: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/15505-street-justice-vs-martial-arts/ -
I would strongly recommend against any kind of Steam integration, personally. That's a whole different layer of worms in tin cylinders. And we're now in I26.5 here on Homecoming!
