  1. Do you want the joke answers, or the real answers?
  2. "Rabinowitz!" The reply seemingly came from nowhere in particular, while also eerily coming from /everywhere/. It sounded not unlike a semi-moistened pile of tentacles simulating human language.
  3. Disclaimer: I am not privy to any of the current discussions taking place between the Homecoming Team and any game developers, publishers, or other legally represented parties in the negotiations for the rights to City of Heroes. The following video is merely the history of the publishing rights to the game Tetris, which I thought might help some members of this community wrap their head around what it's like attempting to negotiate with intellectually property rights holders, and how little influence the creatives who actually -made- "the thing" have in these sorts of situations. Enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fQtxKmgJC8

  4. AH! What you're looking for is right here: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/13681-report-typos-here/
  5. As I understand it, the devkit tools for 3D assets are part of the whole reason Homecoming is trying to pursue the legitimacy path with ncsoft. Unless I've been misinformed, this game uses proprietary 3D files, and reverse engineering them has been one of the most significant hurdles to OuroDev's efforts. So . . . yeah. This is kind of off the shelf for the time being, but discussions on the subject are, of course, certainly still valid. I happen to agree with Wilco's assessment overall. It's a potential can of worms that could see considerable backlash. Maybe it would be a non-issue, and maybe people would be mature about it overall . . . but there are a lot of bits of world history which have resulted in a lot of baaaaaaad blood around the globe.
  6. I'm pretty sure it's working as intended. There was quite a bit of testing on the Beta Shards back during final development. None of the Pool Power Attacks are meant to outshine any Primary, Secondary, or Epic Attack Powers. Given how strong the Experimentation Set is overall, I think it's alright that Corrosive Vial isn't pushing the envelope.
  7. THAT . . . would probably be me. https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/18502-the-forum-tells-me-things/ I mean, to be perfectly fair, it's not like I skin anyone without their expressly informed consent. Usually.
  8. Ah! Which settings? My poor computer is having a heart attack too, and the heat wave we're under in my neck of the woods isn't helping any.
  9. I would like to thank everyone who contacted us to offer support. At this time, in addition to our committee planner All Creation, we have also gained ToxinFox and Darque as volunteer contributors to our contest! If anyone would like to provide additional support, we will be very appreciative, but at this time it looks like we're set up for tomorrow's event! Thanks again!
  10. It gets used in roleplay, I can tell you that much at least.
  11. I find that not everyone plays the game to the same "level." Some players just need to be reminded that they have certain Powers. Other players will be on the ball. Some others still will get irritated if you communicate anything which could be perceived as an attempt to "tell" them "how to play" their character. I generally just try to stay relaxed about the whole thing. I don't play the game to be challenged, so I avoid +4 Difficulty teams, and therefore the lack of constant uptime on ally buffs is less of an issue.
  12. That rather misses the point of asset stores, but you do raise a valid concern. What I was suggesting, however, was more about a method to ensure that people who have done work that DOES end up in the game can be reimbursed for the work they've done. It's not the same thing as a for-profit or the theorized bid-based development methodology.
  13. Will you reroll Riot Control when we finally get a Riot Grenade Control Set?
  14. @Blackfeather, I appreciate the sentiment and agree with the application of it in the context of most commercial games. However, here? At Homecoming? It's not -ALL- we can do. So long as the code is out in the wild, we can band together and work as teams by our own rights, and develop the ideas we propose. It's been a lot harder than I would have hoped, since it seems that in many cases the people who do such work end up taking their balls home and starting their own servers (if you can excuse the mish-mash of a metaphor there). But that also just kind of proves the point: Other servers exist, with all kinds of wild experimental development being performed! I really think that the Homecoming community would benefit immensely from community teams forming up and working on projects together here. Documenting their projects. Integrating broader community feedback in to the side projects, or at least amending notes which address and acknowledge said feedback. Sharing their efforts publicly, for the added benefit of failure protection should the project members need to bow out. No, not everything is going to get used by the Devs here, and it can be absolutely heartbreaking to feel that kind of rejection. And yes, the Homecoming Team could be WAY MORE encouraging for the players who want to do this (although, there is a potential litigious spectre looming over them, so I shall continue to give some benefit of doubt there). And yes, you're absolutely right that these Suggestions and Feedback boards are expressly -for- spitballing ideas, and other members of the community would do well to be reminded that creative criticism would be much more productive than whinging about how all they can do is focus on the negative. But, after saying all that . . . I maintain that "just giving the ideas and polishing them" isn't the end of our potential journeys here. We can do more! We have that power now. Of course, if that was the intent of what you said . . . well, then I'm just happy to signal-boost you!
  15. Thank you, everyone. This thread is really shaping up to be quite wonderful! . . . still, though, seriously. Facepalm Reaction. Like, yesterday. 'kay, thanks!
  16. That's actually exactly the idea I had, but I hesitated to share it publicly, since that could theoretically be used as evidence of foreknowledge if the Homecoming Team ever -did- decide to use it. Cat's out of the bag, now, so . . . what's the practical feasibility on this? If totally anonymous, unrelated content producers created third-party assets for sale to the public, and those assets ended up being used by the Homecoming Team after donations were raised by the community to pay for said assets . . . how problematic would that be? How "for profit" would that be considered, particularly under conditions where the individual content producers were not associated with anyone within the Homecoming Team beyond the purchase of said assets?
  17. Honestly, a Tiny Weapons (or more accurately an Improvised Weapons) Set would actually be absolutely AMAZING in my frank opinion. I don't care if it underperforms worse than a Dual Pistol / Trick Arrow Corruptor on TOs at level 50; I want it!
  18. *pinches bridge of nose, takes a deep breath* https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/12155-going-forward-can-we-have-more-things-that-mean-something/?tab=comments#comment-121433 Given how unpopular changes of those nature were to the community at large, attempting to use them as the carrot on the end of the stick to drive up Redside population . . . I can personally only predict a disastrous backfiring.
  19. Psi Melee Stalker is also good Trickster! Placate and Boggle, and spring for Pacify from the Presence Pool, and maybe Misdirection from Stealth (though that last one would be hard to build toward, frankly).
  20. https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/17503-facepalm-react/
  21. I find it's more an issue of practicality in attempting to kick while wearing the billowy robes. Go for the throat- and/or kidney-punches instead.
  22. I am too. Doesn't stop me from devouring them like crazy. Bananas too. Though generally never together.
  23. Illusion Control / Ninjitsu, 100%! Just like Lughebu.
  24. There is definitely a To-Hit Cap, and I've hit it on an eight-Soldier Team. https://archive.paragonwiki.com/wiki/Limits
  25. Only that it's being "looked at." Literally, that's all. It's definitely an over-performing set, but there's no guarantee that anything is actually going to happen to it.
