  1. Was that Reunion a couple months after HC launched? I think I was on that LGTF. All the forcefields made it look like Hami versus Hami.
  2. I was impressed by the relevant typeface choice. Also the all-MM team.
  3. A 4 byte signed integer ranges up to 2,147,483,647. That would be the actual technical cap.
  4. It should be temporary - Mimiru is swapping the server this is hosted on right now.
  5. This month affects parents too. I'm not a parent myself, but I am a lecturer. This time of year always takes some adjustments.
  6. I think this is half true. Where the game is bad, it's really bad. But where the game is good, it's really good. A lot of MMOs feel this way, especially as they grow and try to maintain a playerbase of bored veterans. CoH and others may have had a new lick of paint now and then, but the old badness still lingers and it's enough to wear me out. I'm glad that CoH at least was starting to replace some of the outdated and irrelevant content with something newer, but it still feels like most of the game has fallen behind itself. I play less than I did, and when I do I play 'classically' and slowly up the levels. But I solo: it's more social. Groups don't give you time to chat, it's so dang rushed, I just get sad. A leader in a group I was in sent me a message telling me to stop helping in the Help chat because it meant the dead silent team was carrying me - team was having zero issues face rushing everything. That shit's offputting as hell, and I'm super gone if that becomes the prevailing attitude. I think that's why 'old school' players seem rare. We're out there, but grouping doesn't go very well with our playstyle.
  7. Clarity on the overall story is one of the game's worst aspects. I think the devs imagined all its players would have grown with the game, but it's become very hard to untangle for new players. The new praetorian arc is a big offender. While maybe not blocked from content, I'd definitely like to see players guided through the stories more progressively.
  8. Hi! Welcome to the game! The LFG window is a fairly late addition to the game, and the player culture never really shifted towards using it. Instead, you'll see that teams are pretty much entirely assembled using the LFG Chat Channel. There are only a few edge cases where the LFG window is used, like Death From Below and Drowning In Blood, which require the window to launch it - and even then, the teams usually assemble through the LFG channel beforehand. Rule of Three is more commonly known as Positron 1, or Posi 1 (we usually call task forces by the name of the contact who gives it to them, rather than the actual name of the storyline). You'll want to look out for that. When you notice someone recruiting for something you might want to join, send the recruiter a PM. Good recruiters tend to shout out the level range that they're recruiting for in the chat, so keep an eye out for that. The range of task forces and trials opens up a lot as you level. Edit: Just for your expectations, I'll add that a task force is just a sequence of missions. The older task forces aren't very distinguishable from regular story arcs. Positron's task force used to be a fairly tedious slog through about 12-15 missions. As the game developed over the years, the mission writers took a quality over quantity stance. Positron was split into two shorter task forces and both were given a lot more personality and a punchier plot. The next sequential task force is Synapse, which has never been updated since around the launch of the game.... you'll notice the difference.
  9. For me, that would also need to come with some new challenge settings. I don't find regular-style content at 50 all that fun with the rapid pace, so it would be pretty sad if the entire game was adjusted for higher levels. Thunderspy has done some really cool, fun stuff, but the sandbox approach isn't for me.
  10. I think the amount people are willing to read is more important than the amount people are willing to write. For me, the current limit is pretty comfortable to read in downtime and I love seeing what people have to say about their characters. There's definitely a length threshold where I wouldn't bother reading someone's bio. It's probably around the 2000 character mark, maybe a touch more, but that'll vary between people. I know the RP forum is talking about putting together a character bio site. It would be great if the ingame bios could link there, so there's some space for people to really stretch their legs.
  11. HEY YO IT'S THE FUTURE YOU'RE A GOD NOW. LIKE IT.
  12. The planned Utility Belt power pool is supposed to come with a Freerunning power. My hope that it's in the region of Ninja Run/Beast Run but without the animation. I have a bunch of heroes who cannot wait for a 'normal human' travel power. A natural control powerset of some sort has been on my wishlist since forever. My biggest qualm is with the Well of Furies storytelling pulling the rug out from underneath whatever we have in mind for our characters, but maybe that's another discussion.
  13. I think the principle is if you have a server of fundamentally differing challenge, you shouldn't be able to transfer in or out of it. Or in the very least, you can transfer 'down' difficulty, but not 'up' it - like the test server, in a way. Not that I think such servers should happen...
  14. It's a farming build. Lots of PBAOE damage and specific defence against fire. It doesn't have so much utility in the rest of the game. You can't really go wrong. Ninjas/Trick Arrow MM is somewhere down the bottom of the pile, but if you have fun playing it you can still make the best of it.
  15. That happened on live quite a while back. It was a pretty good move. Homecoming does have many other QOL changes, as well as balance and economic changes that have largely improved things so much. It's hard to list them all. Be sure to locate the p2w vendor and see what they have in stock. Next time you're in Pocket D, see what options Null the Gull has for you.
  16. This is the happiest thread. I like this thread.
  17. Nerf Shark Repellant.
  18. ^ My vote for best thread on the whole forums.
  19. I'm of the belief that Paragon City uses a different system of measuring than real life, but that happens to share the same names as Imperial units of distance. 6' is definitely an average height.
  20. I've found that Homecoming is way more mellow about the pace of levelling than my experience of Live was. Even on Reunion, you can find people happy to play across the level ranges. I couldn't be happier.
  21. Just for clarity, talking about this one. But I think you got that. Maybe the text file it saves into is protected for you? It's called chat.txt and is located in my game's root folder.
  22. You might be. That button saves the whole shabang for me; tabs, custom channels, everything. I don't have to tweak a thing.
  23. You can save and load your chat settings in the options menu too. Last tab, right down the bottom. New characters will load in those settings.
  24. It incurs a pbaoe fear effect because holy shit that's some mighty hovering.
