  1. I mean, I'd recommend organizing an <em protest> rally in the Croatoa lake, but I can only imagine how heartbreaking it would be if someone punted Sally in the middle of said protest.
  2. I happen to firmly disagree on that assessment. I would much rather be on Homecoming that weekend, but there are things more important in life than being happy. All the same . . . any official word on contest participation by proxy?
  3. Ok, thanks for pointing that out. I went to double check, and you're correct. The show is on the Sunday. However, my spouse's friend is having her wedding on the Saturday, so I'm still in a boat of no-chance-to-get-on-Homecoming. I saw both days blocked out on my calendar, and just forgot which was which.
  4. I mean, don't force us to stop punching her if we don't want to, but we have the technology now . . . how about we add a Contact to Croatoa who sells a Temp Power called "Camera" that can only be used on Sally. Use Camera on Sally, and earn the Believer Badge. Also, add a new badge . . . Disbeliever and have that one award for the punching-of-Sally which currently exists. Pretty please?
  5. Could be fun! You could write a full package deal, and offer it to the Devs too. Do such things as create the captain and first officer in AE, save the files, go in to Striga and jot down some /loc spots for spawn locations, write some content for it, and then package it all up and send it to the various Community Reps here on the forums. The less work the Devs have to do themselves, the more likely they are to implement it, I'd imagine.
  6. The spouse won't go for changing dates. Saturday was chosen for particular reasons.
  7. The Revelatory Prestige Academy of the Etoile Islands Everlasting Server (naturally) Learn-1453 @VileTerror This is a school for young adults and youth in the Rogue Isles who want to pursue self-motivated learning opportunities. The faculty and staff are cherry-picked to ensure that they understand the price for intentionally undermining or manipulating the students. The Academy caters to exclusivity; with the ultra-wealthy or influential being the only ones permitted to be the benefactors of the enrolled students. And Arachnos, of course, since who would dare oppose the magnanimous Lord Recluse or his Arbiters? Located in St. Martial, the Academy has ample parking (at least ample by the standards of the Etoile Isles), an intimate setting for small-sized classrooms of various types, an extensive library containing both technological and magical resources, and nearby student residence facilities. There are also some on-site guard barracks, since a Prestigious school such as this needs to ensure the safety of students from threats both external and internal. The base plot also includes a little slice of street-level life in a simulated St. Martial.
  8. You have to turn your Experience Gain off even while running it at -1, x1. I know; I'm still working on it! It's the lower levels which really need it. But to the original topic: I am mostly sad that I can't find good stories in AE due to all the farms blocking them out. Can we please have a "Farm" Tag for AE, so we can disable them from showing up on a personal basis?
  9. I am going to be away on the 26th, as I'm taking the spouse to Little Shoppe of Horrors in Stratford that day. Would it be permissible to have someone stand in and be my proxy costume contestant? What would the official rules be on something like that? Could someone enter my costume, on my behalf, and dual-box their own costume for themself without being disqualified?
  10. I always felt that Group Fly should limit the Max Fly Speed of the user, but increase the Max Fly Speed for everyone in the buff area. Seems like the best fix without radically changing things.
  11. Might for Right https://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Expert_Badge There's more to it than that, but this is all I could find on short notice.
  12. Could always lock it behind Badges instead of level, so there is an active component involved instead of just passive farming in one mission over-and-over. A spread of Badges, such as the Accomplishment Badges for various missions at multiple different level ranges, and perhaps a few Achievement Badges. The sort of metrics that do a better job of determining if someone has experienced the game, rather than just levelled up.
  13. Welcome, Cata-Mews, to Everlasting; the (Officially) Unofficial Roleplay Shard of Homecoming!
  14. Kinetics and Traps are two of my favourites. Dark Miasma right up there behind them.
  15. Ok, finally got a team together that pulled it off, JUST BARELY. Thankfully, the timer reset once we took down the last Banner, or else we wouldn't have had enough time to even make it to the Giant Monster. Can confirm: Being inside the circle doesn't matter. Trying to get the enemy spawns inside the circle didn't matter. We had people at every banner during the spawn-takedown phase. The blue bar filled at strange intervals, but it filled. We then all gathered at each Banner and tore them down, one at a time. We had about 12 to 15 people for this part. It took a lot of time and effort, as the Banners kept regenerating really fast. The Giant Monster was an absolute breeze. It was defeated before I could even finish typing out a message to inform the LFG channel of its location.
  16. Sounds fairly reasonable, although I've heard tell that changing the GUI is a pain in the ass. Probably worth it in this case, though.
  17. You leave Jeremy Jenkins alone! Take out his father, sure. Dirty scumbag lawyer that he is. But JJ is a sweet, innocent (, dumb) angel! And his existence in CoV Beta predates the Leeroy Jenkins meme, so can we please put that rumour to bed?
  18. I'm all for costume piece proliferation! Let's have it happen!
  19. Page 26, Post 3. When I first read https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/10784-another-update-from-the-homecoming-team/ , my apparently dyslexic self thought "Issue 26, Page 3" was a reference to the post in this very slot. But since this thread was only on page 21 at the time, I reread that other post and realized my error. I am very glad to hear of the commitment to the express goal of Homecoming remaining 100% free, not-for-profit, and donation-driven. At the end of the day, this is the best news, frankly . . . but I know that my deep-seated passion for this game, and game development in general, leads me to want more. I'm not demanding it as a need, and as privileged as I am, it's not entitlement which compels me to say: I want Homecoming to be the best it can! I've said it before in various places, but from my own personal experiences in the games industry, and life in general, I think that Homecoming offers all of us a nearly unique opportunity for positive, progressive change. We can be the example which leads others to strive for a healthier development cycle. We can be the community that works cooperatively to make our game something others look to as an exemplar. We can be the gold-standard of the best player-driven MMORPG experience that others seek to emulate. And we can do that by leaning in to City of Heroes' greatest strengths: Player Agency and Choice. We offer players the opportunity to make their characters uniquely their own. We offer the community tools to shape their interactions. These are what make City of Heroes the compelling and personal experience which so many are invested in. What so many people furiously defended and cried out for during the Sunset Years. What so many flocked to when the Whistle was Blown, and who keep coming back home as more people discover Homecoming. We can read about their personal stories of how this game changed their lives in these forums and in so many other places online. We can plainly see the sense of dedication and determination which so many people have for City of Heroes. Maybe I'm seeing things that aren't really there; the community as a whole will need to verify or deny my claims, but I genuinely believe this game's greatest strengths are all the things which set it apart from "traditional" or "marketable" MMOs. The paradigms of the corporate publisher system do not have our best interests at heart. We can not afford to assume any of their "best practices" or "mandatory requirements" are legitimate. We must re-evaluate those assumptions; determine their legitimacy as each individually applies to us. We need to blaze our own path. The opportunity has presented itself: We now have the power to lead our own City of Heroes direction. Since we're all human, and as humans we make mistakes, I strongly encourage the development of multiple subcommunities. Multiple servers. Connected by the greater community's passion for this game. The best way to insulate City of Heroes from any future failures is to diversify and disseminate. While there is a limited number of players, with a limited amount of time that they can dedicate to their chosen Shards or Servers, we can improve the longevity of all of them by keeping the flow of information free and open. Let everyone share in the new developments, even if they don't intend to implement them on their personal servers. Let's go Open Source. Let's keep City of Heroes alive, for as long as there is even one person out there who wants to keep it alive.
  20. I've only managed to get the banners vulnerable once, last night in fact, and I can say that I was the only person at the Green Banner for most of that portion of the event, but people were Broadcasting that they were working on the other banners. I was both in and out of the circle, so no help on a decided answer there from me, I'm afraid. However, when it came time to take down the banners, everyone joined me at the Green Banner. There was easily twenty of us, but the banner kept regenerating the piddly amount of damage we dealt to it. This is; the regen seemed really, really inconsistent. At times it would only get a few slivers of HP back, and other times it would fully heal for no explicable reason. Count me amoung those who want the Devs to give 100% solid and reliable information on the process. "Figuring stuff out" is not my idea of fun, especially when the tools to get a read on a situation are very poor.
  21. I was tired of waiting for someone else to do it, and so I made: Fear Incarnate Dark Control / Pain Domination. I'm going to make them a Vigilante, with the Presence Pool. Let's see how much Fear one can stack. I'm not attached to this character, though . . . just the concept of someone dedicating an entire build to maximizing Fear effects. So, if anyone wants to promise me that they can make Fear Incarnate an Absolute Terror (that name's also free as of right now), then I'm all for it.
  22. I defeated all of the Ascendants before even realizing Maestro was in the mission on my second run. I think it could have been funny to have him comment on where his friends had disappeared to after escorting him
  23. People love to bring up Phipps, but he's so garishly cartoonish from my perspective that he comes off more of a parody of EVIL! than actually evil. Now, Peter Themari. There's a delightfully evil chap.
  24. Some Day Job zones allow for a 0 second log out timer. That's handy too, but sadly doesn't apply at all Day Job locations for some reason.
  25. The vine "tentacles" from Flytrap on all those players' shoulders . . . we need that in the costume creator! ASAP!
