Has enough time past yet that we may get the meaty insides of these missions revealed? I'd really like to review all the content I may have missed in-game and see what's behind the curtain for the purposes of providing other would-be contributors within the community the tools to make their own works shine as much as these arcs do.

Its a wonder this game even works.

blizz didn't/doesn't just have scads of money, though . . . they also have a /name/. The line of unpaid interns willing to leap at the chance to put acti-blizz on their resume is truly staggering. It's their standard operating procedure to put new talent in to low-risk positions, and then buy up loyalty from the ones which meet their standards. -
Sixpence, you are doing great work here. Please continue to demonstrate that there is no shortage of great names available!

Some Tweaks to Give Trick Arrow a Point
MetaVileTerror replied to DougGraves's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Very good point, Leogunner. Wombo-combo'ing would make the set rather interesting . . . though the question becomes; would Trick Arrowists be able to wombo their friends' combos, or should these mechanics only work for the original user? A combination therein, based on the particular effect? -
I'm all about compromise: Swarmnado?

Double facepalm isn't strong enough. I need MAXIMUM OVERfacepalm as a new emote. Basically, it's a regular facepalm but with a slow wind-up animation played during a dramatic music swell, and it triggers a massive Autohit friendly-fire explosion upon impact.

Some Tweaks to Give Trick Arrow a Point
MetaVileTerror replied to DougGraves's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Not only is Trick Arrow a little . . . *extends hand and wobbles it a bit* . . . but Tactical Arrow basically demonstrates everything about Trick Arrow that needs improvement. If not flat improvements, how about at least investigating some improvements that increase over level. Such as the To-Hit Debuff in Flash Arrow starting at the present value, and improving by a further +10% (unenhanceable) by level 50. -
Suggestion: New "Field Tailor" power
MetaVileTerror replied to Tipsy's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
You know what . . . yeah. If not customizable as to what we summon, then I'l change my vote from a wardrobe to a phonebooth as well. After all, we /definitely/ already have phonebooth assets in the game (Bloody Bay), and there's a certain humourous quality to that. -
The forums are more secure and reasonable, though. And since the forums are a check-and-done environment, as opposed to discord, the "any one time" metric isn't really a fair or accurate comparison. Until such a time as the Homecoming team can invest in their own VOIP/chat system, I don't think it's particularly beneficial to ask the community to rely on such a separate third-party piece of software. Especially that one.

Mission 2 of Shauna's arc has a bank robbery; but the guards start as hostile. I think it may have been a good opportunity to implement Neutral- or even Friendly-coded guards, who turn hostile if you move past them or exhaust all dialogue tree options with them*. Also, when the Longbow ambush comes in, they identify the player-character by name, and yet outside the mission all PPD and Longbow remain friendly. It would obviously be problematic to have the factions turn hostile, and Detective Davids does lampshade this later on, it might be nice to have something else to hint at the possibility that Longbow and the PPD are uncertain of your identity earlier on. *with the dialogue being something along the lines of: "Hold it right there. This is a restricted area." - Explain that you're here to search for evidence. \ "Not without a warrant you aren't. We have everything under control here. Now please, move along." - Suggest you're here to provide the guards with support. \ "Thanks, but we're under a private contract. You'll need to go to our head office and speak with the Powered Operative Outreach Programme agent there." - Lie about starting a new account. \ "Well, if you have an account, then please go back to the front desk and have the on-duty bank manager bring you back here with the appropriate escort." -- Looks like there's no way to convince these guards you're supposed to be back here. Mission 3; councilman Stone "slouches back against a wall" despite standing in the middle of the room. Some other emotive text might be more appropriate, such as "slumps his shoulders" or something to that effect. The mission-accept texts were a little iffy on player agency, but they definitely did not cross the line in to Dr. Graves / Fallout 4 territory! Overall, despite all my critical feedback above; I'd like to say that this is some very nice work on Shauna Braun's arc. I especially like how the post-arc Contact contact text is ambiguous toward either ending of the arc, and the branching dialogue with Davids looks really impressive! The ending cutscenes work nicely and give some excellent dramatic closure. Frankly, this arc is better than most anything produced during Live, in my opinion. I'd really like to see the guts of this arc, if possible. It would be an excellent teaching tool for all other potential content contributors. When I have time tomorrow, I'll try to tackle the Rogue Contact and post further feedback.

When you clicked "Register," did the game make any indication that the button was being pressed (ie: graphical change or sound effect)? If the button wasn't even responding within the GUI, there's a chance that a pop-up like the "Activate Windows" alert was blocking your cursor from reaching it. If that's the case, and you can't resolve the invisible pop-up blocking your buttons, try running the game in windowed mode and moving the game window over or down a little to gain access to the character creation's Register button. Alternatively, just hit the "Next" button in the bottom-right corner while on the "Custom" tab. What time of day were you attempting this, and had you validated your install immediately prior to booting up the game? There's a chance you may have started the instance of the program prior to a patch, and the game version was mismatched by the time you finished your character. That has happened to me in the past. The only workaround there is to save your costume design and power customization settings, shut down entirely, and then revalidate/update and launch again. If you were hitting the "Register" tab expecting the game to launch, then note that you need to actually hit the "Next" button at the bottom right corner of the Register screen to actually begin playing.

Suggestion: New "Field Tailor" power
MetaVileTerror replied to Tipsy's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I agree; that would be pretty handy! Maybe have it spawn in a wardrobe full of cloths? I understand why the Auction House can't be brought in to instances. Are there any limitations for Costume changes which might make this feature infeasible? -
Literally ANYTHING to stop ranged henchmen from brawling
MetaVileTerror replied to Weylin's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Also . . . I was starting to get anxious about all the stuff I've been hearing about being added to coxg. When I heard the titles of various things added, I thought: "Oh geez! I want that, but I don't want to have to play on a server without GMs." And then I read that post linked to by Bossk, and I realized: "WHOA! That's . . . okay, it has some nice ideas, but . . . that number of simultaneous changes . . . geez. Mercs could definitely use a little love, but that was a bit overkill." -

List of missions/story arcs not included in Flashback?
MetaVileTerror replied to Hero Star's topic in General Discussion
The Peacebringer and Arachnos Epic Archetypes' unique story arcs don't appear to be available. Unless they're unlocked at levels beyond 20? -
As someone who put themselves in to debt during Live . . . I'd just like to thank all the donors for giving an old addict their fix for free.

Forum dedicated to in-game events - SG, VG & other?
MetaVileTerror replied to McCavity's topic in General Discussion
er, I /think/ Scorp was suggesting that the events merely just be posted in that boards, directly. It has the room for it, and that is the specific function of Shard-specific boards, after all. -
I'd just like Regeneration on Tankers, with an Absorb element added to it to beef it up a touch for the them. Maybe some Absorb would help Regeneration for Scrappers, Brutes, and Stalkers too.

With my understanding, the game wouldn't/couldn't be one large zone. The engine just can't support something of that size. We could, potentially, get the Praetoria treatment. Get close to the edge of a zone, and be instantly sent to the next one over. Not ideal for Paragon City, given how much space there is between zones on the "world" map . . . but it seems like an easy thing for the Rogue Isles. We already don't have traditional War Walls there, and an "open ocean" zone would be /really/ low-impact on the server, heh. Could be a fun way to have some smaller Villain Zones added too, with little islands forming the greater archipelago of the Etoiles. Of course, the other issue with the War Walls is how much content references and even uses them. There are quite a few missions which have the War Walls as a major narrative element. While we could relegate that content to Ouroboros, something would need to fill the gap. That's an additional workload right there. Additionally, there's something to be said to roleplay agency in leaving so much of the city unseen; it grants players the opportunity to state that their characters originate from areas of Paragon City which are not part of neighbourhoods with established zones. Players can also build bases to represent those unseen areas. So . . . in my opinion, I think the amount of work you would be looking at far outstrips the feasibility. Considering how long it took the paid Devs of Live to create new zones, and overhaul of this magnitude is liable to take years of dedicated work, and that doesn't even assume that it would be functionally possible. On the other hand: Taking down certain -pieces- of the War Walls in specific zones could be interesting, I think. Some gaps in the walls could make for interesting content additions.

But Vahzilok are like the complete opposite of necromancy. The Vahzilok are medical science and cybernetic monstrosities. Banished Pantheon minions, on the other hand . . . them's is necro-zombies, yes. In either case; I certainly don't object from them being added!

Nah. You would need to be up against Council or 5th Column Robots. Freakshow are anarchists, after all, while Council and Column are fascists.

What makes it best is that he would be Natural Origin.

Thanks for hosting the event tonight! It was definitely fun! And great work on the base.
