  1. Since it's the only 2600 baud modem in the world, probably not. (I think you meant 2400... and even I don't have one of those around any more!)
  2. ... so you're saying respec needs a respec? (I'd agree some fine tuning, at least, is in order.)
  3. *bows* (Thanks.) Take a look at the one-key teleport option, recently posted in General Discussion. The powexec_location cursor command is awesome for this.
  4. It does have the advantage of sounding like it was invented by Tesla. No, the original one.
  5. There are credible reports that it was made to be a serious movie and came out so bad all they could do was recut it for humor. Much like Galaxy Quest was originally meant to be an R-rated adult-oriented film, and then the studio desperately needed a kid flick for Xmas...
  6. Space Herpes! Yuck!
  7. The only place pineapples belong is in refreshing Samoan cocktails and pineapple-upside-down cake. Pineapple on pizza is like tabasco sauce on... mint chocolate chip ice cream, which is the third best flavor. None of my island shirts have pineapples on them. One does have Harleys.
  8. Only because one pattern of Hawaiian shirt is like one flavor of ice cream. 😄
  9. Ah... good point. Maybe there are hooks to lock powers in place during the process, then.
  10. Well, remember too that /cleartray is your friend here. Instead of a mad jumble of powers and macros clogging the trays, you can clear them all out and pull down from the Powers tray in a sensible fashion. (Note, too, that Powers can be resized to show nearly all your powers in one view.) /cleartray does NOT delete macros.
  11. An even simpler, if crude method occurred to me. Create one each of the macros, Put them in slots 1 and 2 of your tertiary tray. Write the Q bind but skip the two switching binds. Now...change modes simply by dragging the TP macros. They'll switch places, and the one in Slot 1 will be the Q-activated one. Another technique that could be useful for a lot of power switches, letting you use one common bind key for a variety of tasks by play mode.
  12. Again, something of a mini-guide, but a further useful illustration of the useful powexec_location cursor command. Basically, I worked out how to have a visual indicator of which teleport mode you're in. This should be adaptable to any switched powerset, as well as any use of the cursor keyword and any combination thereof. So, first build these two macros: /macro TP "powexec_location cursor Teleport$$camturn" /macro CTP "powexec_location cursor Combat Teleport" A hint: make two of each while you have the string loaded in the chat window. And enter these keybinds: /bind Q "powexecalt2slot 1" /bind CTRL+Q "gototrayalt2 9" /bind ALT+Q "gototrayalt2 3" Put the TP macro in the first slot of your tertiary tray (assuming you're using virtual Tray 3 here). Arrange this tray as you like with that change. Again assuming you're using virtual Tray 3 in your tertiary tray, set your secondary tray to virtual Tray 9 and duplicate your tertiary tray in the secondary tray. (Got that?) Except: put the CTP macro in the first slot. Another hint: put the OTHER macro button, the one you duplicated, in slot 2 of each tray. That is, Tray 3 should have TP - CTP, while Tray 9 has CTP - TP. This way, you'll have access to both powers even without a tray switch. (Now put Trays 2 and 3 back where they belong.) And you're good to go. Tap Ctrl-Q to set your TP power to Combat Teleport, and Alt-Q to set it to Teleport. Tap Q to C/TP to the cursor point. Switch from travel to combat TP'ing as needed... and the macro icon in Tray 3 Slot 1 will always tell you which mode you're in. Adaptable to any such power switch, or other trays (f'rex, you could use a loose tray for this switch, especially if you otherwise switch out powers for combat and travel/buff/def whatever where the TP or other travel change would make sense. (And now you see why I Suggested some kind of popup message using slash commands, even if it's just a player-only chat message. Saying "Switched to TELEPORT mode" and "Switched to COMBAT TP mode" would be so much easier...)
  13. It occurred to me, in posting the little squib about powexec_location cursor over in General, that it would be very useful to have a way to display a message just to yourself — say, a screen bubble that says "You just set travel to TELEPORT." Since adding a popup message is probably too much code/work/time/cost, what about another chat channel mode that appears ONLY to the player? Call it Self or Silent or (old days) Whisper, so that anything said there would show as a chat bubble, but only to the player who says it. I know, a little quirky, but if it's an easy dupe of code... why not? Maybe just take Local and reduce the radius to 1 foot? It would not need any screen changes and perhaps not even a link into chat windows – the sole purpose would be to let players use a line command (in a bind or macro) to generate that bubble.
  14. This really belongs in Guides or something, but I think it's of general interest... 🙂 One of the small but cool changes to I27-2 was the addition of the cursor keyword to the powexec_location slash command. Put simply, it instantly executes a power at whatever/wherever the cursor is pointing. For example: Q "powexeclocation cursor Teleport$$camturn" ...will instantly teleport you to the pointed spot, or, if into empty space, the maximum teleport distance that direction. You can keep tapping Q pretty quickly for travel. To make this a little more useful, use the following three keybinds: Q "powexeclocation cursor Teleport$$camturn" CTRL+Q "bind Q powexeclocation cursor Teleport$$camturn" ALT+Q "bind Q powexeclocation cursor Combat Teleport" Now, tapping Alt-Q sets the key to Combat Teleport, and Ctrl-Q sets it back to teleport for travel. The camturn helps in travel in that it keeps turning your view towards whatever direction you're going. It's not especially useful for combat teleporting. The one thing missing here is any indication of which teleport mode you have Q set to. No easy solutions... but it did give me an idea for a game fix, which I'll post over in Suggestions. But the new cursor keyword means you can execute all kinds of targeted or directional powers with one key tap. That's cool.
  15. One solution for this is to set up 3 or 4 separate Chat windows and make the Default for each one of the channels you want to keep tabs on (that's a pun, folks). Then select the "current chat" button - I think it's the A at the right end - and to switch active chat entry, just click on the window you want to catch your pearls of wisdom. Not a perfect solution, but it lets me both watch and switch between Help, General and Team chat.
  16. It is a huge PITA to rebuild your trays after a respec. But I'd bet, on hazy info, that it's a much bigger task to fix it than it might seem. There would have to be a step during which (1) your alt has no powers but (2) somehow those power icons remain locked in place. That's almost certainly a block of new code, shoehorned into a metal-level process. But, yeah, it'd be nice. Maybe an option to save and load trays would be a workable alternative?
  17. Not just formatting, but hundreds of separate entries across dozens of topic streams and multiple pages. I hadn't thought about this for a long time, and my roots do go back to printing out things like listservs, but... Can't Be Done. Not even sure if there's a way to download the contents for offline reading, on say a tablet or something.
  18. Not quite the same thing, but I have had my Nav window slowly slide to the right a number of times. I keep it top center, and every once in awhile a UI tweak will make it slowwwwwwly slide over to the right edge. The behavior eventually stops. Have never found any fix.
  19. ...and only come two sizes too big. I have a 6'6" male alt of middling build who looks like he's slopping around in daddy's galoshes. (The only design of fairly plain boots that even come close to the theme/model.)
  20. Just some random observations: In a decade of playing and messing with binds and power controls, I've never found powexec_auto of much use, not when an auto power is pretty much a "fire and forget" setting and it more or less has its own built-in bind of Ctrl-Click. A bind or macro to call it seems... rather convoluted. I have found it useful in the "perma auto powers" setup where movement keys trigger toggles; using powexec_auto to trip an auto power that might have gotten canceled is the first worthwhile application I've seen. (ByTheWay... anyone NOT using the perma-power-toggle setup is just leavin' money on the table. IMVHO.) And maybe I'm just super-adept at it or something, but I don't really get the complaint of "having to write a bind for every single alt I roll"... really? If you use binds, a tweaked generic file to load most of your preferences, with a quick tweak in Notepad++ or the like for each, doesn't seem like the biggest hurdle in setting up a new alt. But maybe that's all just me. 🙂 ETA: the notion of an auto-attack AOE can be accomplished with the "perma auto powers" process and a few tweaks; maybe a bind to toggle the action on and off. Just use powexec_location and a movement activation bind. The on/off bind could work by overwriting a key rollover file. ETA2: the new powexec_location cursor command could be used, too; fire power instantly at whatever the cursor is pointing at. FANTASTIC for teleport powers.
  21. But hey, Walk + Follow hot civilian lets you get your creepy-stalker vibe on.... 😄
  22. Thanks for answering this. I always see sig blocks, desktop and mobile, so it didn't occur to me they could disappear. I will use more explicit links from now on.
  23. I've had TP since my first alt (this one). The powers are well explained and don't really need much of a guide. it's all these extra, buy-this, win-this, accolade-granted, half-nerfed powers that needed sorting out.
  24. Technical Guide updated, link below. I need to write some stuff on how to use the new cursor keyword soon.
