Nice. By chance did you happen to keep a full list/location of the original sound files so that I could just replace them all with my silence.ogg file?
-
Long story short: Got the playerslot.txt file all resorted exactly like I wanted it but found that it made no difference to the character select screen. Moving a single character then edits the playerslot.txt file back completely. So, what's the point of this file's existence and is there any way to quickly sort characters by alphabet or archetype? I see we can search by AT or Powerset so it should be possible, yes?

Ooops. I already have one at 50. She just needs a respec. 🙂
-
Truth. I've built a lot of MMs, and I have one still but only because I want one of every AT fully built. I don't enjoy playing her and the primary reason is because the pets aren't even level with the player. Its get really old really fast having to keep respawning them/rebuffing them/etc.

Still only have my first Sent at 50 but others are now in the works and I still play him a lot. Fire/bio with no epic pool. Tough as nails, great damage output, 3.5 min pylon average, soloed master rules max diff ITF (but it took a LOOOONG time to take down the AVs due to them bein all cowardly.) just a safe as can be tankmage. Next up is an AR/Nrg methinks.

Adding to what @SomeGuyhas stated, I recently hopped over to test to see if maybe, just maybe on my scrappers, throwing eviscerate into the chain with it's extra chance to crit and another FotG -damres proc would actually improve overall ST damage output but no matter what chain I attempted to use it with, it always fell short of just going followup, focus, slash, repeat. On the AoE side, brutes and tanks can run followup, focus, spin, shockwave while scrappers can go with just followup, spin, shockwave. When claws got ported to brutes and tanks, they increased the recharge and base damage on both spin and shockwave but left followup, focus and slash alone, thus the need for adding focus to the aoe chain on brutes and scrappers. You could run followup, spin, eviscerate, shockwave, but you'll actually be reducing your AoE output if you do just as you'd decrease your ST output using it. So, in the end, eviscerate just becomes a bad pick numerically on TOP of being an absolutely stupid attack visually. Now having played a dual blades to 50, I was struck by how perfectly Sweeping Strike's animation would have been for Claws Eviscerate. Fast, pointed at the gut, nice cone, brutal. But no... they had to leave it as silly backflip. Even the now very old cat on crack against a scratching post animation that swipe was 100 years ago would have been a better choice. I might be somewhat opinionated on this topic. 🙂 Edit: There *might* be an argument to take eviscerate on a tank *IF* the cone and # of targets hit are being increased there.
-
Don't take eviscerate. And strike's ugly. Claws rocks on scrappers, brutes and tanks. They gutted it on stalkers by removing spin and turning the already sucktacular eviscerate into a single target attack. Between claws' KD with focus and shockwave (which needs the KB->KD IO) and dark's soft controls, you'll be very safe. There's absolutely an argument for going soul mastery for gloom and darkest night. (Although you may find that you don't ever need to use DN.) Don't even need a lot of recharge for followup, focus, slash, gloom, repeat. Perma-hasten should do the trick nicely.

What is your favorite villain personality?

You make me sad. There is nothing evil or villainous about nudity. Occasionally gross, maybe. -

I haven't seen anyone else mention Mr. Frost in ages. Up until this guy came along, Goldblum's was my favorite. But Stormare ... damn. Nailed it. -
Some of us have angry ex-girlfriends? On topic, I've also got a sonic/dark cor that's an homage to a singer I dig. I could see that workin well for a banshee.

Thanks to the recent overbuffs, all tanks do solid damage. Bio and Shield will make that damage even higher. But fun? 100% subjective. I have a great deal of fun with my dark/stone melee tank but that might have a lot to do with fold space. Man, I wish that thing recharged faster.
-
Solo it's awesome. On teams, there's sooooo much corpse blasting.
-
Damnit, Lusca! You're not even supposed to BE in this zone!
-
Then I throw to you a tank I've found very interesting: Dark Armor/Stone Melee with Fold Space. It's an absolutely fantastic tanktroller. Yea, it's also a slow starter... really slow. But in the end it's just plain ol' fun as hell. You will absolutely want an alpha that buffs end reduction. I went with vigor core but cardiac would work, too.

I promise that the first will ALWAYS lead to the second.

I was about to ask what psychopath uses aoes during hard target fights but then remembered that my new db/ea scrapper is doing bf/ss/as/repeat. However, I seriously doubt it'll have an impact but will, of course, be testing it out.

You can't do katana or dual blades (or claws, which really should be on your watch list of awesomeness for its wondrous balance between single target and aoe damage, or titan weapons) with shield. But a willpower/katana tank would certainly be interesting. A shield/ma tank would also be quite good.
-
I concur. I get the same crunchy satisfaction from katana that I get from mace. Especially if the gaussian's in bu goes off along with the (edit) critical strikes proc in soaring dragon right before I land Golden Dragonfly. Quite glorious.

Shield. As much as I love SR, shield is just better... numerically. Can reach the same softcap, nearish enough DDR with doublestacked active defense, more base damres at 100% health but the kicker is the damage bonus from AAO. Regardless of what anyone might say to the contrary, damage is king in this game because we get XP by killin baddies. While SR's +20% recharge is nice, it just doesn't compare to a saturated AAO. And for a truly silly ride, go shield/nrg tank. The ST damage is insane and shield charge helps on the AoE front quite a bit.

Apart from ED (linked above) limiting the usefulness of SOs/Basic IOs past X number, if you are using SET IOs, there's a limit of 5 specific buffs. Example: If you have sets slotted in your build and 6 of the set bonuses grant +10% regen, you'll only get +50% regen as the 6th bonus will not function. A partial exception to this rule is with the Luck of the Gambler +7.5% recharge IO. You can have up to 5 of those AND 5 regular set bonuses that also grant +7.5% recharge.
-
I threw one into evasion on my claws/sr brute and found it wasn't worth the slot even just standing there surrounded by an aggro cap's worth of cimerorans. I'm sure someone else can show the math.
-
Which is why, to answer the OP directly on SR, it IS fantastic on tanks. Capped DDR (for all SR using ATs) means cascading defense failures don't exist, and between the scaling damres from SR with the added scaling DR from the Reactive Defenses Proc AND the extra damres from the Might of the Tanker AT IO proc, you can easily find yourself at 1/3 health with softcapped defense, capped damres and still have almost 1000 HP. Or in other words, immortality.

Based purely on the multiple runs I posted to the pylon thread, brutes were a wash on assault radial vs core, but both tanks, my sent and my scrap all had substantially better times with core, leading me to believe that anything with a higher base AT damage mod than brutes will also benefit more from assault core. Prior testing always put degen over reactive (but not by much) and of course, alpha musc core is the only way to go. This is all just hard target stuff. I've heard otherwise for farming and of course if you've always got a pocket kin capping your damage buffs, radial will be better instead.
-
Talking it over with @BillyMailmanwe concur with Underfyre. On Sents, you're better off going Dark Blast instead of Gloom on Sentinels. And from pylon testing, you're better off with hybrid assault core over assault radial. (On Sents, Scraps, Blasters, Tanks and Stalkers, so far.) So get out there and murder some hard targets!
