  1. Okay, just to throw a wrench into things, here is my insane Dark/Sav build. She is designed to be really, really savage. Basically, kill before being killed. The nice thing is, she can stay at range and cycle her mez powers, or she can get in there and really rip face, depending on the circumstances. Her armoring is garbage, but her kill-rate is faster than my scrappers. She definitely suffers when fighting those kinds of things that explode on defeat. 2. I play a lot of Dominators, and I have noticed the aliveBOOMdead phenomena, as well. As far as blastery sets go, of the combos I have, I think the Elect/Nrg feels the most blastery. I skipped most of the melee attacks (I know, many moans) and I can just float back out of the aoe mayhem and blast away. Does decent damage. Seems like every discussion of what Dom sets to play always comes down to people raving about /Sav and /Psy. I have a Dark/Sav and yeah, I get it. SOOO much scrapperlock. And don't even talk to me about damage issues, the damage output is ridonkulous. The thing is Feral Charge saves a lot of time getting around the battlefield and that has a surprisingly positive effect on kill-rate. It's just, bamf-facerip, bamf-facerip, bamf-facerip, until everything is dead. I also have a Mind/Psy that I am still trying to work out. I haven't been too happy with her so far. I might see about making her a proc-monster and see how that goes. But now I keep thinking, what if I ran /Sav with one of the primaries with a toggle PBOAE. That could be crazy. Or wait, I could take the Psi Epic and run World of Confusion Or WAIT, do Mind/Sav, toggle on Telekinesis and just bop from one to the other as they helplessly float away!!! AAAAAAHHHHHHHH so many options!
  3. So, I think my question is, do I really need to Fighting Pool? It seems like if I am really going for confuse/control then the extra armor is superfluous and taking away from my damage/control ability.

    Rikti Herding?

Looking to build something that will be for Rikti pulling during MSRs. Would also like it to be good in normal play, but does not need to be Hami-ready (unless that is also possible). What powerset combos would you recommend for that? Something that can gather aggro-cap herds and bring them back quickly.
  5. I gotta go with this. Even if you are herding Rikti for the MSR, which I do regularly on my Fire/ tank (Psi Resist 56%, Positional Def 20ish%), Psi damage just isn't that exciting. Unless there is a certain PSI heavy AV or GM that you really want to tank regularly, the vast majority of Psi baddies just aren't that scary to a well-built tank. And for a Psi-heavy hard target, just show up with a few big inspirations and you'll be fine.
  6. You guys want complete tedium? Here's a "fun" thing. Bid low on common salvage. Like 100. Put in massive bids. Come back next day, they are all filled. Sell to vendor. Profit. The profit is tiny, and the salvage carrying capacity limit is annoying, but it works consistently with no risk. You make about 100 per piece, so if you buy 1000 pieces, you get 100,000 Inf. Totally not worth it. Anyway, I used to be a big marketeer back on Live, when the market was tight. I was even a founding member of "The Luck Charmers". We were a cabal of arbitragers who worked together to manipulate the market. Well, just drunk BSed in channel, mostly. Anyway, nowadays I don't even bother. You play the game and Inf just seems to pour down like a monsoon. I got into marketeering to tweak out my first 50, but after that, it just seemed pointless. Run a few MSRs, TFs, iTrials, WSTs, and storylines for the heck of it, and boom, more than enough to trick out your next one. And, so on. All without spending too much time dealing with that infuriating AH interface.
  7. I'm curious how you got the original, un-attuned version of the IO?
  8. Oh I gotcha. Well, I ended up swapping it for Hoarfrost, so I think that will work out good. If not, still got plenty of free respecs LOL!
  9. Great analysis, but I feel the need to give a bit of feedback on Savage: I have a Dark/Savage and it is easily one of my fastest ST killers. Just ignore the silly ranged attacks and rip your opponents to shreds with your claws. In general Feral Charge + Vicious Slash will finish a yellow con in just a few seconds. But the real beauty of of Savage is, of course, the mobility of Feral Charge. Mine is sub-3s recharge and it allows me to kill steal from blasters, scrappers, and most any other damage-forward build because I can get to the target first. I can easily get Nightcrawler-lock, popping from opponent to opponent just ripping them down. Open with Living Shadows + Fearsome Stare then just crush them all. Feral Charge + Rending Fury will clear out most of the minions. Then finish off the LTs and bosses in just a swipe or two each. Using Feral Charge to get around is also defensive because you can move from target to target before more attackers can get to you to attack. And yes, range makes a huge difference on its damage. I think you may be under-ranking savage's damage potential.
  10. Oh yeah, now that you mention it, Ice Storm does seem pretty pointless, especially slotted for Slow. Dunno WTF I was even thinking. Good stuff all around, thanks!
  11. Hello again fellow Doms! So, after all the great discussion in my AV Killer? thread, I decided to go ahead and take a whack at respeccing my Mind/Psi. Here is what I came up with so far. Some notes/questions: Boosted the Confuse ST to last as long and cycle as fast as possible. Boosted Mass Confusion to handle any adds issues. Also have Mass Hypnosis in case even more show up. Sleet to get the opponent's Defense down a bit. I couldn't get Ranged Def all the way to soft cap, but I am hoping that will be okay with all the controls laid out. I was thinking I might swap Misdirection for Telekinesis, but it seems like the Placate and -Res could come in quite handy. Especially since she could Misdirect + Hibernate for some relief if things get hot. Will Mag 4 placate work on an AV? Will Domination increase the Mag of Placate like it does other controls? On Ice Storm, what is your opinion on swapping out the 6th piece of Pacing for an Overwhelming Force: Chance for KD? She would lose 3% of Ranged Def, but gain a lot of floppage. Can an AV break Hibernate? Will the -Recharge on many of the attacks have any effect on an AV? Maxed Levitate is honestly just for the heck of it. It'll be fun tossing minions sky high. 12. This is so embarrassingly true. I have seen Singy, by itself, handle massive spawns with no trouble. Things like stopping an entire ambush without the team even noticing. Singy was my first pet ever in COH lo these many yarin ago. I have recently tried some of the other controller pets, and singy far outpaces every one. It may not be the highest damage, but it does enough. Plus, it has ridiculously good controls, as you say. And all the other pets I have tried die like puuuuuuuuuunks, whereas Singy nearly never dies. I literally can't play MMs because Singy ruined me for them. It's smarter than any other pet, heck it's practically smarter than I am. 6 slot it with the Purple Pet Damage set. You will not be sorry, though you might be embarrassed by your pet outperforming you.

    AV Killer?

Okay, this is all great information! Looks like I will want to respec my Mind/Psi Dom for AV hunting. What Epic Pool do you recommend? I seem to end up going with Soul on a lot of my Doms for Dark Consumption and Soul Drain. And yeah, the Dom ATOs are really annoying.
  14. Will there be an audience section? I would like to come watch, but am not interested (at the moment), in participating. Heck, will there be cheerleaders to lead is in cheers?

Interesting, so what is it about confuses that make them better against AVs? Are they less resisted than holds? I happen to have a Mind/Psy sitting around doing nothing. If she could be retooled to be an AV killer, that would be sweet. Second, when building to kill AVs, do you still focus on recharge/damage set bonuses first, followed by defense/resist? Or is there a different set slotting strategy?
  16. Huh, I have it 6-slotted with Preventative Medicine on my Mind/Psi/Soul. I guess I wanted that Recharge IO bonus.

    A Scrapper's view

I've played nearly all the ATs (minus a couple VEATs) and in my experience, the level of team responsibility of least to most runs Scrapper to Tanker. You made a big leap there. There are a variety of Tanker playstyles. I find the most fun and fastest to be the "keep the team moving forward" style. Then again, Fire is my jam, so that may make be biased. I lead out, jump in a group, get them all centered on me, wait till the control & DPS roll in, then move on when about 80% of the original spawn are down to set up the next group. If the next group is close enough, I will bring them over to take advantage of the already set DoT AoEs. For me, there should be no pause between groups. I rarely use the actual "Taunt" power because it is slow and doesn't do damage. If I see someone's health dip, I have a keybind set up to target a Taunt through them. This only works if they are targeting their attacker, but it also means I can get over them with a quick F to assess their situation. I keep it very mobile and my head on a swivel. One of the keys to remember about being a Tanker is that killing is not your job, that is what your minions (sometimes called other PCs) are for. You are there to assess the battlefield and make adjustments as you see fit. This means that, at times, you might be *gasp* NOT attacking. I know that is anathema to a Scrapper, but sometimes you need to just stand there are look around to see if there are any opponents wandering off, or an incoming extra-aggro, or health dropping, or where the next closest group is so you can set up your next opening, or whatever. The *only* time I will ever use a corner-pull strategy is when I am with a group that is in over its head, but doesn't want to leave and reset to a lower difficulty. While we are on the subject, as a Scrapper, if you focus on Boss/LT killing, that would be great. Like I said, I like to move on when the group is about 80% dead, that tends to mean only the bosses and Lts are left. If the Scrapper jumps in and targets those first, then they die about the same time as everything else, minimizing danger. I know most Scrappers do that, but it's worth mentioning. Whatever you do, do NOT do what I have seen many tankers do, and stand there beating down the last guy before moving on. Leave that for a Scrapper/Blaster who can probably one shot it. Also, if you have to stop and wait to see if your team is all assembled at each group, also a huge waste of time. As you are moving between groups, glance up at their HP. All good? Good go ahead and get started. Looking a little red-ish? You moved on too soon and need to head back. But, anytime I am not the tank and I see a tank stop and do a full spin before starting a new group, I know they are not good at awareness, and will usually jump ahead on my Controller/Dominater/Blaster to keep things moving. Anyway, welcome to the fun and thanks for actually being a considerate leader!
  18. Slot it for damage and go to town! You've got -ToHit and lots fo control options from dark for safety and good DPS from Fire, not sure how you could go wrong. Why the Sorcery Pool, specifically?

    AV Killer?

So, in most of the AT subforums there are numerous threads about the best AV killing combo, but I don't think I've ever seen one in the Dominator threads. Are Doms just so bad at AV killing that nobody wants to talk about it? Are they so good at AV killing that there's no need to talk about it? Anyway, in your experience, what is the best Dominator combo to do AV/GM hunting?
  20. The funniest part about this whole thread is that I MEANT to ask about /Poison (because I was considering an ironic Plant/Poison build), but my stupid ADHD brain typed /Traps for some reason. I wasn't even thinking about traps. But, turns out that was the right question to ask, after all!
  21. I'm pretty sure this is why it is not available for Doms. Would be pretty OP to carry around your own tank and be your own blaster, as well. Though other sets can kind of do that, Ill/ is definitely the best at it.
  22. Awesome, thanks so much for the tips! That's exactly what I needed.
  23. Having so much fun with Doms these days. Plant/Rad seems fun just because of the irony. But, /Rad has a really nice set of powers, aoe, st, ranged, melee, and even a bit of a heal. Take a look at my build and see what you think. I'm not too sure about the Def Debuff slot on Proton Volley. Is Def Debuff good? Is it pointless to increase? Is there too much or not enough already in Rad Assault? I'm also not sure if the procs in Spirit Tree will work properly? And why is Soul Mastery the best Mastery for Doms??? I can't even seem to pick another. +End, +Dam, +Acc, Res to 4 types, and a helpful, if creepy, buddy. Nothing beats it. Anyway, please have a look and let me know if you see any tweaks. 24. Does Impact work on Controller secondaries? I have a Grav/Storm and I haven't noticed it.
  25. Honestly, the best Hami "tank" I have seen was a dwarf (not sure if it was PB or WS, I think maybe WS). They did need a pocket Energy booster, but that was it.
