  1. True, and Superior Invisibility comes in really handy here.
  2. Okay, perfect, this is exactly what I needed. So, essentially, gotta get right up on the baddies to place the traps, at least for poison trap. Makes life exciting for AV/GM fights, but at least I know, now. Thanks so much!

    Fourth Wall RP

    This is a good point.
  4. I think we all know who this is. I'm gonna say sometime near never. HC has been out over a year, there have been many updates, and this still sits, even though it was announced six months ago. While it would be a nice QoL upgrade for some people, I think it is really low enough priority that the likelihood approaches nil that they will ever bother with it. On the other hand, if you are really concerned about it, just make sure you have notifications on the patch notes subforums, so you get a ping every time a new patch comes out, and you can check on it. I suppose if there was a huge uproar about names on the forums/discord, they might push this, but otherwise, no reason to take time away from other efforts. Personally, I enjoy it. It amuses my morbid sense of humor. Writhe in pain, evildoers MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Ahem. And, remember, we are "defeating" or "arresting" them, not "killing" them, so this could be seen as their attempts to get back up or escape. You know, when you knock someone out, they often do flop around for a few seconds before fully succumbing.
  5. Weird flex, but okay. Does not answer the question, though.
  6. Just 2 weeks! Everyone get your Tanktroller leveled! Pick up them temp/item powers. We need hooooooooooolds! Actually, the greens went so smoothly last time, it was almost like playing on a team of Dominators.
  7. Yeah, I think Elec/Martial would work well and be a lot of fun. I agree with others, Grav is better for a Controller. I know some people are not fans of elec/, but I have an elec/nrg dom that freaking rocks. All the KB from Jolting Chain is a lot of fun. And Static Field is such a great power, I think really underrated.
  8. So, I've mentioned my new Ill/Traps Controller before and how much I am still marveling at it's awesomeness and funness. Near capped defenses across the deck, decent resists, and practically undetectable while she wanders around tossing out pets and traps. But, I want to make sure I am being as effective as possible and I am still learning all the Traps tricks. Specifically, my questions is, what exactly is "near" in the descriptive line, "Any foes that pass near the [Name] Trap will cause it to detonate." For example, looking in the details of Poison Trap, I find this: Effect Area: AoE -- 16.00 ft. radius (1 targets max). Does that mean that 16 feet is the trigger radius, or is that just the radius in which it will hit its target? For Acid Morter it is even more confusing. We have Power Range:100.00 ft. , Effect Area:AoE -- 8.00 ft. radius (16 targets max). So, does that mean that if an enemy passes within 100 feet of the Mortar, it will shoot at that target? Speaking of which, how does it choose its one target out of all the available targets in the radius? Is it closest? Random? My selected target?
  9. Call "The Old Folks Home" or "Retirement Village"? How about "Uphill Both Ways"?
  10. This is a hilarious idea! The thing that always strikes me when looking back at the earlier days of gaming is how much more difficult it was. I mean, I remember dying *multiple* times just trying to jog to low-level missions. I am surprised that we tolerated it back then and kept the game going. Can you imagine the kids today going through all that? Games are so much easier now.
  11. "powexeclocation target Combat Teleport" works for me. This is the actual Bind I use: /bind numpad0 "powexec_location target Combat Teleport"
  12. Umm.... "Combat Teleport" is a self-movement. I think perhaps you are looking for "Teleport Target", which is the power that affects a target. Your desired outcome would be coded like this: "powexeclocation self Teleport Target" This will teleport the selected target directly next to you without using the mouse reticle to click the ground or anything.
  13. It is now called Teleport Target (Replaces Recall Friend)
  14. Do Pool powers benefit from Containment? I did not think they did, but I definitely could be wrong. What about Prestige attacks?
  15. Given that Fold Space steals one of Gravity's best schticks, Wormhole, I can imagine how useful it would be. Definitely see it on an Elec. Set up your Sleep field around yourself and just TP everyone into it. Drop all their End to nothing. Seems good for most Dominators, really. With a lot of secondary damage coming from melee attacks, getting opponents into melee quickly is a boon.
  16. I third or fourth the binds. I have been using teleport for a while now on a scrapper and set up a bunch of binds similar to those. The "target" location one is particularly insane. No more running around combat hitting follow and getting stuck on intervening crap. Just tab to select the next target and key to teleport. You'll be kill-stealing in no time. Now that I think about it, it seems like you should be able to set up a bind that targets next enemy and teleports you to them. Should be /bind Q "powexec_location target Combat Teleport$$targetcustomnear enemy" If this works the way I think it does, you tap the Q (or whatever key you choose) twice quickly. The first tap targets the next nearest enemy, the second one teleports. I tested this a bit, and it seems to work okay. Saves you from fighting the tab-targeting system, and you don't have to press two different keys to get to the next target.

    Fourth Wall RP

There are a couple ways to handle this. 1) Make sure you get pre-approval OOC to do it with your RP partners. This is particularly good if you have a set group of friends that all agree to the joke and go with it. 2) Allow for them to be considered insane. If someone came up to you IRL and was speaking through some imaginary 4th wall to viewers, you would just assume they were insane. As long as you are willing to have most people treat them like they are crazy, then that would be okay, too. In either case, put an RP note in your description to give people a heads up. The other thing is, you could play it smart. As in, the character does break the 4th wall, but also knows most people will think that is insane, and so only does it around close friends.
  18. I love this! How creative. I agree with the others, descriptive gestures are the way to go. Of course, you are going to be mostly unable to convey complex thoughts and ideas, but the basics should be easy to cover. Mack gestures urgently at the approaching CoT coming up the hallway. Mack bows in greeting. Mack waves goodbye. Mack gestures "thank you" touch a corner to where its lips might be. That is the other thing, sign language has some pretty broad gestures to convey certain phrases, many of which are easily interpreted even without knowing it well. Also, can Mack write? Heck, depending on how far you want to go with it, Mack could carry a tablet, type on that.
  19. I think one of the issues is that Buffs are already pretty OP, on a team, anyway. Adding inclusion of self would make them even more OP. Would you trade some buff values for inclusion of self? Lower buff numbers in exchange for the addition of self-inclusion? Personally, this is why I used debuff sets much more often than buff sets. Debuffs affect all friendlies, even those not on your team. The other option is just to team with other supports. A team of supports is way more powerful than any other combo. Due to caps, the need for self-buffs is irrelevant in this case, since you will hit most of those with teammate buffs.
  20. Ugh, y'all are killin' me here. I need more playtime and maybe a clone or 3. Every time I read this thread, it makes me want to make a new tanker. Now I am thinking /EM. Or maybe /MA. I'm thinking of pairing with Willpower/. I can't really see any downsides in WP, and it is not very clicky, which I like.

    Ill/Traps What Combat

As far as choices for Empaths go, I think Ill/Emp would be one of the better choices.
  22. Well, after a lot of waffling, I finally settled on an Illusion/Traps for my first Illusion controller. I chose that for two reasons. First, it seems like a fairly uncommon combo. Second, I really wanted that -1000% regen debuff. I also noticed that the set was recommended by a few folks, and I liked the discussion around how it performed. Normally with Ill, most people go with a secondary that boosts recharge, so as to get to perma-PA, but I dislike a buffing playstyle, so Rad or Kin are not for me. I needed something that mostly did debuff and damage and I already had a /Storm, and a /Dark, so I didn't want to repeat those. So, I worked out the build, and first thing I noticed was the amount of Def that stacked up easily. Between Sup Invis, Group Invis, and FF Generator, it was easy to hit near 40% def to everything with no big sacrifices. Also, lots of places for LoTG. Slots seemed plentiful because quite a few powers function decently with just their one default slot, or maybe 2. So, I could easily 6 slot all my big attacks for set bonuses and procs. I got PA to almost perma without much trouble. I figured 5ish seconds downtime wasn't a big deal. So, all looked good in Mids. But, here's the funny part, the thing I did not anticipate was the amount of detachment this build would play with. So many of the powers are fire-and-forget. All the pets, all the traps, FF Gen and Triage Beacon. I only have a few direct attacks, and most of those are not that exciting. And I have no direct buffs or heals. Not only that, but being Superiorly Invisible means I can move around the battlefield with near impunity. Casting pets and traps does not break S. Invis. So, basically, while combat is raging around me, I am just calmly sending out my pets and setting my traps, without really any attention to what is going on around me. It is a completely different playstyle, and I think one that I think is fairly unique to this combo. Totally different than my usual very direct playstyle. I like it as an alternative. I wouldn't want to do it exclusively, but it is a nice change. Anyway, just thought it was cool. Here's the build, in case anyone is interested.
