  2. Ooo a request for opinions! Folks should be and are able to play how they want. If someone wants to trade a buddy some leveling assistance, no problem. If someone is generous enough to help some strangers out, good on them. If someone wants to sell power leveling, farmed enhancements or accounts for real world money... whoa hold on, that's a problem. Somewhere, I believe there is a line that shouldn't be crossed. That seems to be the general consensus. In my opinion that line starts with broadcasting in global channels. If someone broadcasts an offer to trade farm runs, I have no problem with that. If someone sends a private tell to the person offering trades and says they be willing to pay.. I don't really have a problem with that. I don't have a problem with folks using the farm channels or super groups that power level members. Broadcasting the selling of power-leveling = more broadcasting requests to pay for power leveling, which eventually = someone trading real world $$.
  3. Yep yep. I gave a nod to these and I do use them. I was just wonder if anyone had any ideas on other interesting challenge modes.
  4. So they TFs should be worth less merits due to times being 'shredded'.. Is that what your suggesting? Choices. On occasion, I pay more for an enhancement than I need to because I want it sooner. The OP has said the game suggests "a HO is the equal worth 80, 37, and 25 merits". There is no simple linear correlation. Take the merits if the HO is unwanted. Some HOs may be worth more to a player than others. Is the one I want worth 80 merit? Hell yeah! Is the one I don't want worth 80 merits.. not to me but maybe to someone else. Is a chance at a HO worth 25 merits. In my opinion there's no question, other folks may have a different view. Choices.
  5. can't buy Hamidon Origin enhancements with merits. whoa whoa.. Hamidon Origin enhancements play pretty nice with Invention Origin enhancements for some 'advanced' or 'exotic' builds. Feel free to send your unwanted HOs this way.
  6. So leader board might be possible. And we already fight player-character-copies in a popular task force.
  7. @Leogunner Makes me wanna ask.. so should folks not playing with IOs get higher rewards thus adding incentive for playing a more challenging.. okay I'm just joking but there could be something there. To all: To me the speed bump in COX has always been diminishing rewards. Let folks go as fast or be as overpowered as they want. Let folks play the way they want. Shoot we'll even let you skip the majority of the game if you like. We just won't let players then abuse rewards or a game mechanic.
  8. COX is super replay-able. I'm just wondering if there are additional ways we could challenge our characters or teams. Some games have challenge modes. So does this one. We can set missions to have higher difficulties and add timers, travel power usage, number of deaths, etc. They are mostly related to missions already in the game. However the game doesn't cover all the kinds of challenge modes. Troo idea #1 Infinite mode. One thing we don't have is infinite enemies. Troo idea #2 Boss mode. Same is above but with a progression of final bosses, heroes, and arch villains. Troo idea #3 Leader boards. Troo idea #4 Leader board mode. Similar to boss mode but this time, we take on copies of the characters on top of the current leader boards. What other ideas are out there?
  9. If it didn't typically effect average/most players and was only there for outliers I'm okay with that. I like the idea of something that increases the challenge for choosing to increase the difficulty. It's reasonable for +4/8 to be more challenging than it is. It does seem like a lot of effort for a skinny slice of the player population. I can also see where folks suggest it could add grind for many which would be a concern. COX is a pretty long game with high replay-ability.
  10. @SeraphimKensai @Galaxy Brain I can see it would be fun. knockback = +damage and more knockback = more +damage. If we can launch a target far enough.. One shooting minions or leave em with only 1hp remaining. That would be kinda awesome.
  11. put it on test, let's see. Corpse-blastingtm is the problem. The set has a couple big hitters that often don't end up hitting anything. That would be awful even if I never played it before. yes I totally stole corpe-blasting and threw a tm on it.
  12. It's possible folks over think this one. At one point Energy Melee was fun to play and very effective (okay maybe too effective). That version of the game is looong gone. Just change the set back. It won't be top dog in the current version. It's not gonna be the top farmer or displace AoE monsters. It'll be fun though and folks will play it. If for some very unlikely reason it did break the game, then we address that. In my not so humble opinion it's pretty unlikely.
  13. ET is awesome even with the broken animation time. Some great opinions provided. With 300+ hours, you know what you like. Bottom line it should be fun to play. Person to person that might be different. I have played less than maxed builds because I liked em. It looks like you must be able to afford to try a couple different things and respec if needed.
  14. Oooo maybe it should be Halloween again in game then. Halloween , Halloween , Halloween , Halloween !!
  15. yes they will. it is likely not you nor the controller. I got an older controller working late last night and will post the solution when I get back that computer. (it was just a setting in options that I had long forgotten setting or didn't have to before) update: typically all I had to do was Options > Keymapping > Keybind Profile > Joystick and then just set buttons. That always worked in the past. this time, I had to also go Options > Controls > Game Controller and make sure it was toggled on USB joystick. I don't remember having to do that before.
  16. I believe this is not accidental and as intended. I think there may be some additional nuance as well such as not being repeatable per period of time.
  17. Will try to download and install the "x64" Visual C++ package from Microsoft as suggested a number of times in different threads. WORKED. That appears to have address the two errors. Now to get the controller to work again. Currently behaves as if not even recognized. Device Manager does recognize it and it works for calibration there.
  18. and of course. New computer ordered a couple weeks back showed up today. I did a fresh Windows 10 install, removed remaining bloatware, updated drivers, updated graphics drives... and attempted to install the game. following the instructions provided at: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/9526-frequently-asked-questions/ Hey look safe mode... uh oh. 64-bit results in: Safe Mode works great. So like a brand new player I'll go hunt for the solution.
  19. pst hey.. What, you need something specific? Lemme know, I'll hook you up. (in-game of course) the AH can be a bit buggy in this current version of the game. it's not the player. few places like the Black Market/Action House where patience or planning can really pay off. that said, there are big swings in the displayed prices. if someone is in a hurry they may pay a bit more but rarely more than double the average. If a person is patient even just a couple hours they typically save a bit or be able to then adjust their bid. IF there are none or just one for sale and a lot of bids. It may take another channel to acquire that item (merits, convertors, a-'buddy'-like-me, super packs, etc).
  20. The billboards in the game were built to have rotating content on them so theoretically it may be possible to leverage that capability with relative ease. Moving the billboard functionality to signs.. that could be a much bigger leap.
  21. correct. it can be a little confusing.
  22. Thanks for voting and the constructive comments.
