  1. I quite like the changes so far. True, I can't immediately be anywhere in the game... it now takes me a minute or two... but nothing is so out of reach as to be any form of annoying. Milliseconds to seconds. I am trying out EM on a scrapper and already having issues... but I don't really scrapper so could just be me ha ha.
  2. I'd do defender... better Leadership buffs, better storm powers. I also like to group more so this suits that, If you solo a lot or do a ton of content with only teams of 2 or 3, corruptor would be better.
  3. TL;DR: Yes, let Defender powers effect themselves. In return, remove the solo buff they get (not totally solo but close).
  4. Bio. Its rare. MAYBE there is another choice to be more min/maxed but at the same time... being unique will make you known and you'll still do 99.999999999999999999999999999999999999% of content exactly the same.
  5. Rad/anything. Done and done. Anyone that joins should just be pure DPS. But really, anything someone finds fun and is a good person to hang out with will be the best tank.
  6. There's not many powers to consider KB for. 3 max. Energy Torrent, Explosive Blast, and Nova... you can also be selective with their usage. Do not ignore the advantages of KB over KD either... a skilled person can really herd enemies and also cause them to be delayed in their damage application... a bad person can just annoy everyone but its not that bad really on most maps. Unsure on the comparison to Defender DPS... Defender has a 0.65 mod while Sent has a 0.95 mod... (blaster is 1.125 mod). A sentinel is the 3rd tankiest in the game, beaten only by Tank and Brute. Not using that is a MAJOR waste of your abilities. My sentinel goes into a group of enemies and unleashes and survives. Then the tank comes and gathers them up and blasters and DPS finish them off... while they do that, I'm already off onto the next group. (A tank-brute combo can do similar). You're closer to a scrapper than a blaster, but definitely not a scrapper. And again... chasing the DPS dragon means this is the wrong AT. Everyone and their hard ons for MAX DEEPS... heh.
  7. Big problem I have with any advice is... how do you play it. Someone can roll in here with a build that is GODLY... and I'll try it and I die opening the door to a mission. A lot really depends on how you enjoy the game, and then finding parts that fit your style. From a min/max perspective... just wow. The worst set up. DP has been known forever to be lackluster on the damage. SR is pretty dangerous because when you are hit, you are taking full damage so you'll experience HUGE blows when they land.... That being said, screw min/max as this looks fun as heck ha ha. Have a resistance based defender in the team and you've become tankier than maybe even the tank lol. DP isnt the best DPS... but then again, if you wanted MAX DEEEPPPSS you'd be a blaster. xl8 seems to have some good power advice.
  8. When I see people choose a Sent and go "omg I want all the DPS" I kind of sigh a bit. You are choosing the wrong AT honestly if DPS is your goal. I absolutely ADORE the sentinel AT but I don't play it like a gimped blaster. Yes Sent has faster recharge on certain powers... but its still not a blaster. If you want blaster with faster recharge, there is some alpha slots you can go for....
  9. Hmm, honestly the things you are really looking for aren't in the game. There are some such as dark melee for debuffs and shield for team buffing but not much in the sense you're probably looking for in a more active role. And various other power sets. But nothing truly in the sense of a tank with an empathy secondary for example. When I play my tanker, the best "support tank" is a brute. I like to move on from the enemies when there's only 1 or 2 remaining... and many times those can be bosses and cause havoc to the beck end squishes. A brute that can stay behind and protect them is absolutely adored in my teams at all times. I have built a sentinel that can tank just fine, so I imagine the grav-ff troller could be built in a similar way albeit done differently.
  10. I've been mainning an Energy Blast - Willpower Sentinel for a while now and its just ridiculously good. With WP, you're basically invincible and if for some reason you accidentally went AFK in a pile of mobs for an hour and come back to death... you can rez yourself. Knockback is hardly an issue. Only powers that hit multiple mobs could use some KB to KD but even then, its not exactly obliterating a team's ability to do anything. Really, it's just the scrappers and stalkers that won't be as happy. Generally you'll figure out when/where/how to manage your own KB. You'll regularly be able to engage large groups without the team backing your up so unload KB then. Play as a scrapper that doesn't have to run into the arms of each mob to do damage. Don't play like a weak blaster. Trying to make your sent be a blaster is only going to disappoint and waste a LOT of potential the Sentinel has. With my build, I can either be really good damage or a fairly decent tank depending on what I slot in my incarnates. Anyone that argues about Sentinel DPS has little understanding of the AT. Instead, they view it as a crappier blaster and nothing more. Again, you're not a blaster. So yeah, grab WP for your secondary and go to town!
  11. Fantastic reply. Thank you. I will be giving one a whirl soon. Thank goodness for all the character slots!
  12. Little late to this party but my two cents as a Sentinel... Sentinels are better described as ranged scrappers than defensive blasters. Your spot is in the mix with the enemies and not in the back with the ranger types. Like scrappers but hate having to run up to each and every single mob to attack? Sentinel. Lower damage but you can be applying that damage more often (minor). Sentinel is very forgiving due to the extra defensive stuff you get, and depending on the secondary choice, even a self Rez. Blaster is terrific damage and some decent utility. But there does come a point where it’s like choosing a 100 megaton nuke or a 115 megaton nuke to kill the spider in the bathroom. Try both to 30 and see what feels right. Try various secondaries too because that will make a significant difference on how you feel about the AT. I’ll add that I took the melee alpha to get the innate taunt and took provoke to actively taunt as a sentinel and love being able to to tank. But, it all depends on what you want to do, which powers you choose, and how you go about slotting etc.
  13. Hate would be a bit of a stretch, just dislike the look for the IDEA of the character I want. Typically I kind of create a character in my head and see what I can use in-game to make it real. Shopping around ATs for this idea and mentioned my main as a slight point of reference (char idea is similar).
  14. I currently main a sentinel that I built to be rather tanky and even generate some agro. I have no real experience with PBs. Would it be feasible to replicate the tanky-sentinel with a PB in human form (I rather dislike the other forms). If so, what would be the advantages and trade offs? I am not a min/maxer by any stretch of the imagination, but also don't like to completely handicap myself. Just looking for some advice on what sort of ply style to expect as a human form PB before I try and level one up and drop 100M+ on enhancements.
  15. Hmm, this is tough, because things I'd like might not actually be balanced. But a small list of random things: 1. Damage scaled to 1.0 is not 1.05 (we get fewer targets in our AOEs after all) 2. An AOE -res or -def debuff to enemies around us as we attack (think of tanks taunting but with a debuff in our case) to replace the opportunity system 3. Outright immunity to most perception problems (We're sentinels after all dang it...) 4. Team-wide +range buff (again, Sentinel theme) 5. Team-wide +perception Mainly, our inherent blows donkey chunks and needs to be outright replaced, and we are rather lackluster in the damage-department as a team player so something to help with either our own or the team's abilities.
  16. Energy blast sentinel here and I rock the socks off enemies... terrific fun and strikes a wonderful balance between damage and survivability (insane).
  17. This, a million times! This makes me very sad. I really enjoy healing in groups, radio missions, TFOs, etc. But I understand that just healing through damage is a rough thing... I surely don't want to do it! I LOVE my mind troller + empath because I can switch between CC focus and heal focus as we need. I also have played other characters and notice when there simply is no healer at all... which sort of scary. Overall, entire thread just feels like a bunch of people shitting on what I enjoy and came to play. I know it ain't, but man, a whole thread of people complaining about empaths and healers is really a downer.
