If I considered Paragon Wiki an absolute source, why would I have also cited Badger? Or used the qualifier "probably"? The answer, of course, is that I don't consider Paragon Wiki infallible. Nevertheless, infallible or not, Paragon Wiki remains a very accurate picture of the state of the game a shutdown. So, unless you have a specific, articulable reason to doubt the information you find there, that information should be treated as presumptuously correct. Particularly, as in this case, when it's verified by a second source. Since your "clarification" failed to cite any reason to doubt the Wiki's information it's really nothing more than a restatement of the basic truism that nothing is 100% accurate. Which, as I said, is always worth keeping in mind but, at the same time, shouting it whenever someone cites an authority just clutters the discussion with needless qualifiers—it obfuscates instead of illuminating. Which is why I labelled it unhelpful. If you regard that as trash talk, so be it.

Paragon Wiki isn't entirely unreliable either. Personally, I'd judge it to be upwards of 90% accurate. So while it's good to remember there have been changes, unless you know specifically that something was changed, mentioning this isn't particularly helpful.

I just checked Paragon Wiki and Badger, there isn't a badge called "Gift Giver" listed in either place. So that's probably why.

I remember the Pingus though I wasn't one myself. Like Gameboy, I primarily hung out on BMT. In any case, welcome back.

As far as I know, no such badge exists.

Like Snarky said the Rebirth Destiny incarnate will let you pick up the healing badges so you don't really need any particular archetype to collect all the badges. (Joining MSRs and spamming Rebirth got me the first three heal badges in just a couple of months. It can certainly be done faster if you're really active.) That said, obviously having healing powers as you level up makes for a nice head start on getting the badges, Aside from that, stealth and flight will help you get exploration badges more easily. Stealth also lets you speed through a number of badge missions. If you don't want to spend a pool pick on flight, just grab a jetpack from P2W or by Firebase Zulu. Good AoE damage is very helpful when it comes to the various defeat X badges though, again, the Judgement Incarnate lets any AT have a strong AoE attack.

Why on earth would you limit yourself to creating a new alt only when an old one reaches 50?

Is it? My mistake. Carry on then.

Get well soon, Apparition!

Atlas Park sometimes spawns a single contaminated between the warwall and the warehouse in the southwest corner. I've run across that one about half the time I pass through there.

Excelsior Badge Leaderboard (no longer maintained)
Ulysses Dare replied to Sister Corruption's topic in Excelsior
The trouble here is: who gets to define "honestly"? Different people are going to have different standards. If I spam my healing Judgement while sitting in the bowl during a Mothership Raid is that honest? Is using VidotMaps to locate the explore badges honest? Some people would say both are fine, some would say both are cheating, and some folks would be fine with one but not the other. At then end of the day, no one else is going to know how much or how little effort you put into getting a particular badge. It's up to you to decide how "honest" you want to be in your badge collecting. -
Afterburner helps a lot. It also doesn't hurt that the game runs much more smoothly on my current PC.

So very much this. CoH predates World of Warcraft. At the time it came out Everquest and how it did things was the benchmark. Expectations about MMORPGs were very different back then.

Good luck with your surgery, Witty.

You do not. You only get the badge for whichever time you completed. If you don't have one of the slower time badges, for example, you won't receive it if you complete a gold run. I confirmed this today when I got gold on the advanced course my first try* and didn't receive the silver and bronze badges as well. *Don't be too impressed, I spend many hours learning that course back when the game was live.

Over half the TF's I see starting up don't usually request any specific archetypes. Of those that do, Defenders and Tanks are the two I most often see requested.

Paragon Wiki is open source. Titian Network is on record that anyone who wants to make a copy and launch their own server-specific wiki is free to do so. So far as I know, no one's taken them up on that yet. Which leads me to suspect that project's not as easy as a lot of folks assume it would be.

I always liked the Matrix room, good to know you can go there now without all the shenanigans—even if those shenanigans were half the fun.

"Safe Mode" Client May Be Going Away Soon
Ulysses Dare replied to Manga's topic in General Discussion
Thank you for perfectly illustrating the assumption that you just said no one in I.T. makes. -
"Safe Mode" Client May Be Going Away Soon
Ulysses Dare replied to Manga's topic in General Discussion
It always amuses me how people who are deeply involved in the I.T field, as I assume any Island Run developer must be, always blithely assume that replacing an old PC is a trivial exercise for users who aren't. It also amuses me when the people who broke a program that was working fine insist the problem is my computer and not their code work. -
On one hand I agree that infrastructure—while not particularly sexy—is much more important than creating new content. But, on the other hand, the two tasks aren't mutually exclusive. Untangling code and writing missions are two different skill sets and not everyone who's qualified to do one is qualified to do the other.

"Safe Mode" Client May Be Going Away Soon
Ulysses Dare replied to Manga's topic in General Discussion
Well, I can tell you that prior to the 64-bit update I played for four months and had maybe three crashes. Post update, even though I'm using the 32-bit client, I crash every night. Safe mode is what lets me join trials and TFs. -

Ulysses Dare replied to Manga's topic in General Discussion
I hope this is just a rumor, because I crash far too often in anything other than Safe Mode. -
Sadly, is not. You always come out of the base portal—or the rez tubes—facing south. Plan their placement accordingly.
