  1. Thank you for supporting the community Yomo. It has been fun watching this. It is a reminder of how as a community we band together in big and little ways that other MMORPGs (usually) miss the boat on completely. Because once you come to the City part of you will always be here. the Vahzilok are out to make sure of that!

    What Hybrid?

Incarnating my Dark^3. Very happy with this. The more I play the more I like. I am torn between Assault Core, Control Radial, and Support Radial. If I play a long time I will probably end up with all 3. Flexibility is nice. What are the pros/cons of each? Is any just garbage? What should be my first priority? Thanks
  3. to be clear, with great wherewithal, henceforth, and forevermor, in this year of our Lord Recluse I have stated these incontrovertible facts: 1) Super Strength is not the best damage dealing set for Tanks or Brutes. It may be near the top. But it is not standing over anyone. 1b) check powergamer builds. SS is not the go to. 2) The crash is a Homey Clown "bonk on the Head" every 2 minutes just for playing the set. 2b) NO OTHER SET IN THE GAME PUTS THE GAMER IN A TIME OUT EVERY TWO MINUTES JUST TO KEEP PLAYING 3) This whole "What do we do about it?" conversation is now in it's second decade. 3b) If this was not such an iconic comic book power set I would have moved on years ago. 3c) How could you screw this up? Seriously? Then stand behind some cottage rule like the CEOs coked out son "This is how we do business here. this is good. why do you have a problem with it?" Guess what? I would put real money that most of those people screaming how bad the changes were on the test server? You give them an alternate power set where they have to level enhance accolade and incarnate the new SS toon? 95% will do all the work just to play the new SS and avoid the rage crash. Even though they whined like an engine with no oil about how horrid it was. Because everybody hates the crash.
  4. so the fix is even easier. make it a different power set. i will gladly level more 50s
  5. The Sentinel forum is one of the best organized in the game. Tons of well documented research on each power set. It takes quite a bit to impress me. They did that. spoiler alert so..... The Archetype is a horrid option to take. The inherent does not do much at best. Oh, and the entire Archetype does the flat out absolute worst damage in the game. Like it was designed to do that. If it was designed to be a completely neutered kindergarten class then congratulations. If it was designed to be an Archetype that could proudly stand next to so many great choices,.....danged. Sorry. Sucks to be on that Dev team. Epic fail. Laughable. Cryable? oh. Laughably easy fix. Bring all damage to around 90% Blaster damage on the attacks. Leave Target caps nerfed. No idea what to do with the inherent. Whatever they were trying for...it went over like a lead balloon. Something simple on the AT mechanic maybe? Like serious Mez protection free? By upping the damage to near Blaster but leaving the caps you will not have the AT the 1st choice of powergamers. That is all you need. Just dodge that bullet by being sub optimal. By changing the inherent to the ability to stand and deliver No matter what you get to the core of the Sentinel design
  6. It has been said a thousand times. And said again just a few posts above. No other power set leaves you debilitated on a regular basis just to have parity with everyone else meet in the middle? How about an equal place at the table?
  7. I NEVER double stack Rage. I still hate the entire mechanic. Why would i want two crashes? I absolutely despise one. The amount of power is not the issue. It is the concept crushing crashes. Do you see Luke Cage falling over every two minutes in combat grasping for breath? The Thing? Colossus? The Hulk? Superman? The Tick? Mr Incredible, old and fat, never stopped to pant. Name one Super Strength character that has to pause every couple minutes to swoon like a victorian era lady with her corset too tight
  8. The Rage Crash thing was brought to us by people who were not great at game design Any changes made now have to get past nerd rage barrier 4000 We are screwed here. I will never get a Mr Incredible, The Tick or Colussus type Super Strength character I have a high veteran level SS/Invul Brute. His backstory is that he was a bodybuilder then got onto Steroids, HGH, then Superadine then Excelsior. Then he got into some really heavy stuff, almost died, and was “fixed” by some crazy mad scientist. He still goes through manic depressive cycles. Hence the super focus strength followed by the complete crash there are only so many variations of that story to tell. It is more accurate than a Hulk clone in describing the powers yet just being Super Strong somehow eludes this game because the original designers had absolutely no imagination
  9. The Brute inherent got the nerf hammer the last time it was “fixed”. Probably justified since they were regularly out damaging Scrappers. Still, not really a SS fix
  10. I actually get a number of good ones. But I PUG a lot. If there is a bad PUG out there Iam determined to find it
  11. Also check the thread on first page of general. yomo’s whizbang giveaway. He will literally give you 20 mil. A nice welcome back oh. Welcome back!
  12. The hardest part for most PUG players these days is the giant differences in expectations on the team. 1 person: kill most. 2nd: kill ALL 3rd: speed. 4th speed when convenient. 5th: +4/x8 6th; read the npc dialog 7th; How do i get to the mission 8th; lets just all do the same thing
  13. I have played mostly Brutes for years on Live and Homecoming. I never take Taunt. That usually turns into a different thread. Just pointing it out. However, Brutes are THE rock that holds struggling teams together. When you are the only Brute and there is no Tank you need to get the old words in your head "First to fight, first to fall, never fall" Hold the line in whatever crazy ass direction the sugar addled maniac villains you are yoked to are going. It doesnt matter if they are going in the opposite direction of every objective and commoin sense is a distant memory. Get the current situation nailed down then throw out a (very short) query into team chat. "Are we going to go to the altar?" "The last shard is in the west tunnel" "I dont think there is anything over here besides 10000 romans. No objectives."
  14. I needed the badge on a new 50 Corr yesterday. Also wanted to test him since this will be a low level toon for a while in a future event. (granted without exemp;d set bonuses and a ton of inspiration tray lol) Joined the next Synapse PUG rolling. We got small maps over 2/3 time. The bigger maps...not that big. This would be the one Quality of Life change I seriously wish HC Devs would do. Rather than revamp the whole Effing TF they could just dial in small maps for all the kill alls. It would change this from a trip to the dentist for 3 cavities to a postage stamp tattoo. We had a good team. A number of peeps had TT, Stealth, ATT and knew what they were doing. There was the one guy (or gal) who kept running into combat at the door, regardless of how obvious it was that we were using speed strategy. They died. A lot. I tried to help a couple times on my Corruptor. Dark/Dark is a sweet help to melee in combat. Fear, tohit debuff. Heal if i'm close. Decent cones to scourge the little robots. We would clear that group and the maniac would charge further into the warehouse. Thankfully ATT pulled me away from that. It was a fine run. Even the maniac seemed to have a good time. Although they died...sooo much. We had to wait for the ATT on the last mission for them to return from the Hosp. They got to the door first and just charged I think. Disregarding our long history of getting ATT to the objective. 58 minutes. Many congratulatory phrases from teammates. Poof, PUG was gone. Badge acquired. Low level test of Dark/Dark Corr successful.
  15. core ageless gives some end help, i do not think radial does. Musc Rad. has the +end mod i think. Glad you found a DA/SS Tank build that works. My Dark/Dark Brute has full Cardiac Core help. THere are a few oddball groups that will still dump his End Bar, I am trying to remember. Rularuu and Dev Earth in one of the Shadow Shard TF is a horrid memory.
  16. Are you running ALL the toggles? I am guessing either 1) you are not ... and as a Tank doable. 2) is the lack of End issues due to Cardiac Alpha or something similar? because if you regular play and level a Dark Armor Tank ir Brute and take the full suite if Dark Armor it is challenging
  17. Dark/SS is an especially bad parrot. Errr pairing. The end crash on top of Darks inherent End issues is Brutal. I only pair Dark Armor with Dark Melee so that i have the End Recovery power. The to hit debuffs dont hurt either
  18. I keep posting here. Why! ?! There is no one that wants this thread to die more than me. look. Folks. There is no shortage of ideas. there is a complete lack of willpower like a person who “wants” to do X in a year. Looks at all the possible ways to get there. Then does absolutely nothing for the next year because someone keeps telling them they should just be happy how they are. the parrot is dead. It is a deceased parrot. Bereft of life Rest in peace. The parrot is no more. Move On. The parrot will not be moving on. We all should
  19. Some of my oldest and favorite story concepts are SS and Invul Will stuff. I can write about such things. But with the exception of a very few they are not Hulk Clones. So CoH, much as I desperately wanted to ignore the issues and olayed the sets for years, has failed to help me tell these characters super stories. I have moved on to running some undead, which I can reasonably create in CoV and does inspire me to put pen to paper the fact that this topic hits a raw nerve is all the more reason to never run these again makes a note to shatter a few of the SS builds and yoink all the purples and shield walls off. Havent played them in a year or so
  20. thanks, i wanted the ranged def from 6 slot Cloud Senses, squeaked me over 45 lol
  21. I ran SS/Invul and SS/Will Brutes for a long time. I currently have two farmers. One SS/Fire one Rad/Fire. SS is so annoying to me ar this point that i cannot run it anymore. We are done. they will not rework SS. They will not fix Invul T9. Sad. Over it
  22. I have started and abandoned this particular character a few times. Was at mid 30s yesterday and decided to just do it. Took my alt account farmer and ground through pulling him. Then opened the Alpha slot. Did the Respec this morning. Except for a minor issue with a decimal buying catalyst that cost me a few tens of millions things went okay. The more I look at this the more I like it. Not Blaster damage. But very good damage. Not Dominator controls, but very very nice soft controls with stun and fear and slow movement. The to hit debuff is insane. There may be other archetypes that get more out of the to hit debuff on Dark, but the Corruptor is no slouch. The Jack of All Trades master of none did not appeal to me. But I have played a 50 Dark/Dark Blaster now and a 50 Dark/Dark Corruptor. i am starting to see the value of this type of fluidity in role. Late edit: turns out this is NOT my 1st 50 Corr on HC. I have an Ice/Ice. So strong. So....not what I was looking for. i may revisit it and play after I get my style dialed in here. I do believe he might still be fully built and forgot lol. Damned you 1000 character slots! But it came up in a conversation last night and triggered a dim memeory. I am definitely enjoying this. It is the Undead style that triggers my desire to wrie something about a character. Now i just need to put pen to paper. Not saying this is the best build, but here is what I slapped on. 23. I really thought this was going to be about the stupid kidnap victims....er rescued persons....inability to get to the mission door. Haven’t seen a gripe thread about that in a while.
  24. Thanks to both of you. Great info. I have room to 6 slot Cloud Senses and I chase Ranged Defense on my Squishies. This Corruptor is actually the easiest build I have made in a very long time.
  25. I think it is 5. But i have not explored every corner of the game. If you find 6+ do let us know oh you can also throw the ice cone judgement on there. But it is hot garbage in my opinion
