Positive Gamer No Longer Playing CoH, Very Horrible Story
Snarky replied to Solarverse's topic in General Discussion
I started to let it play. The man starts talking, the icon showing how much time is left on the video indicates he has a LOT to say…. No one gets that much of my time. Not without paying me. So type it out or say it quick. Or make a LOTR extended trilogy… but i aint watching it. In related matters i do not like to “watch” news. I prefer to read data and draw conclusions. If some slick presenter has a ton of “facts” it is too easy to be mesmerized. Vampires are aware. So, type out what happen. Let me decide.- 134 replies

A Question Regarding Power Controls and Disabilities
Snarky replied to EyeLuvBooks's topic in General Discussion
i use a razer tarterus that has 20 hot keys and a side toggle. then i key my trays to match a key to each of the 20. two full trays of powers with one button hit. i run an ice/cold corruptor for most high end incarnate trials. very powerful. i use macros that turn each of the big location AoE powers into targeted AoE powers. Basically i just target someone and they are the center of a very very cold day. If you have a problem selecting target click on a very good blaster or lead tank in your team bar. you are now targeted on their target. then hit button. finally this still leaves your right hand available for mouse work! /macro Bliz "powexecname Blizzard$$powexec_location target Blizzard" /macro IceS "powexecname Ice Storm$$powexec_location target Ice Storm" This will cast on your target and if you don't have a target it will give you the normal ability to place it I would recommend putting Blizzard/Ice Storm on your bars somewhere so you can track the cooldown. /macro MeBz "powexecname Blizzard$$powexec_location me Blizzard" /macroMeIS "powexecname Ice Storm$$powexec_location me Ice Storm" These will cast it at your location. -
Your New Year's Resolution: Move to the Rogue Isles
Snarky replied to Gulbasaur's topic in General Discussion
F-ing tourists are ruining the place. Next thing you know they will be gentrifying Sharkhead and asking Krylov to stop giving the mission to kidnap Paragon citizens for live Vahzilok vivisections... -
We use a Hybrid at Cosmic Council that relies on the incarnate inspiration and league buffs. Honestly if the fight goes over a minute you either need to burn nearly everything in the trays and hope for the best or prepare to get your head handed to you. We run barrier and rebirth on most of the league with a couple incan for reposition of the entire fight when things get weird. One tank and everybody on burn mode. Dodge lightning and burn. Most effective when you see a league fat with blasters and Corruptors but we do it every weekend with whatever shows up. Almost always 20-24 really good players. I have learned a lot from those folks i can count the number of times i have seen them fail on one hand. I’m literally missing two fingers on that hand

I am glad Hyperstrike answered first. Seriously, Hyperstrike knows the facts. On mine I run Alpha: Agility Core Paragon Judgement: Mighty Radial Final Judgement (Theme) Interface: Reactive Core Flawless (Degen works great against giant health sacks, but remember any league can only stack 5 Interface on a target) Lore: Polar Lights, just to be as unobtrusive as possible. For real damage Banished Pantheon Destiny: Barrier Core Epiphany I solo. A lot. Hybrid. Melee Radial Embodiment on the theory for 90% game Defense is more valuable than resists. again, I choose these by "feel" Although honestlyt the character runs great. Although with the new Dr Aeon and 801 (neither of which do I run at serious max settings) I may have to look at tightening all the slack up lol. Looks back to Hyperstrike... what do I do again?

I have run this A LOT more since that post. Getting comfortable being near the crackles and keeping up DPS is major important. We use a incarnate inspirations strategy. I burn two team reds and a team acc/dam when we summon lores. These are the big ones from luna. After a couple crackled i do it again. The whole league is similarly equipped and doing same/similar. Avoid the crackle, keep DPS up. I have also switched to an ice/cold Corruptor for most incarnate trials. Pure DPS with a single target and AoE -res along with DoT Blizzard and Ice Storm work so well with Scourge. Fully ranged and adding tovthe league’s ability to burn fast fast fast

I love Redside stuff. Not sure if it is avail in Ouro but the Slot Machine arc 39-34 is short and clever. Not exactly villainous. Really just odd. I also love The Radio in Port Oakes 10-15. The concept is the win there. The arc is longish but well written.

At this point, for me personally, any iteration of CoH/CoV that is not managed by Homecoming is 1) competing with the primary established community of hardcore CoH players 2) if done for money just automatically suspect. 2a) I have no problems with people earning. I wish HC could monetize this. I would pay a monthly fee. But we all know what a many source cash driven market supply of CoX would be. Nightmare. 3) walking away from the steady and wonderful improvements and daily work put in by the true fans of CoH. The HC staff and volunteers With respect, as much fun as it can be to imagine, I do not think this is helping move anything forward or in a positive direction

Powersets go way beyond attack chains and optimization. Until they don’t ( i run a ice/cold corruptor in SG incarnate trials because it is stone cold badass). But for everyday play, hour after hour, I am on that Dark/Invul Brute. Dark…crappy AoE. Arguably wonky ST, good but talk about late blooming. The cornerstone is the tier 9 attack backed up by the combat heal and the tier 2. Looooooong animations. Shadow Maul is a must, you have to learn it, and it is a miserable bitch to ride. But….one of the least resisted power types in the game. Strong ST to bring down the tough opponents, and so much vampire style. The combat heal props up Invulnerability powerful but slow Dull Pain and you get an end recovery power that acts as a ghetto aoe. Also, in my opinion, one of the best build ups on the game for a serious melee fighter. Invulnerability…. Just what it says. The synergy, especially with high recharge…priceless. But it is about what the sets do, how they define the character, that is what keeps me playing them. Nothing says undead to me like an Invulnerable juggernaut that drains opponents for health, endurance and scares them witless and screws their aim with all the power of death. Style. That is what will define your character and whether those power sets will work for you. Good luck

I am not a fan of CoH claws. I did end up with a Energy/Will Brute after the energy revamp. Then, inevitably, a Energy/Invul. Invul is just better these days with I/O. Recently figured out another reason why. The resist value of a power is also it’s own resistance to resistance debuff. Those high values on Invul are very tough and S/L even impossible for enemies to debuff. I love Willpower but Invul is just more powerful once you I/O it properly Back on a Dark/Invul Brute soloing the game. Just finishing up 30-34 content over next couple days

literally anything.

Since i never ran Blueside it all looks new to me lol. Then it all starts to look really…really…really old. Just finished 30-34 Blueside. Croatoa was nice. The 5 major origin contacts with 30+ missions each….not fresh. Like last months bread soaked in cat urine

I very rarely do. I have a Farmer I use a farm build, that build is USELESS in normal content, so I slapped on a semi generic I/o build that works fine. On my new main, an Invul/Dark Brute that I am soloing the game with, I have a 1) Solo Build. Stealth. 2) Team Build. Taunt 3) at 50 I will put in a Aeon/Tanky build. Lots and Lots of hard armor, including probably Rune of Protection and possibly Unstoppable!
-
if you really want to crank your forum numbers just make random responses. to anything. anything.
-
Force Mastery has two powers that make you very very tough to put down. Force of Nature and Personal Force Field. i combine these with Stealth Phase Shift for 3 in my Elec/temp/Force Blaster who is fully ranged and rocking 50+% ranged def. Only in caves and small maps do i ever need one of those short term fix everything powers, and I have three.....

Contest: Make Sonic Resonance Relevant!
Snarky replied to Yomo Kimyata's topic in General Discussion
Why? Super Strength is irrelevant (if I must point out, in a Super Hero game) unless you have a Rage Monster concept or...more accurately....want a double stacked Rage PvP build (which is why this will never be fixed) So, again, why fix anything? -
You are welcome For my current “main” Dark/Invul Brute I am running two builds as I level. A “stealth” build with invisibility and no taunt for soloing. Then a “team” build with no stealth and the Taunt power. At 50 I will add a third build that will have Rune of Protection and possibly Unstoppable for serious Tanking. Also, over the last year, my thoughts on Touch of Fear have changed. This is a very valuable power not just for the AoE but for the crowd control. I will be looking at squeezing that onto builds where I can But this is the build I ran last year. I like a high recharge high accuracy build. A great source for all things Invulnerability is Hyperstrike. His thesis and templates on the armor set are the cornerstone of many a strong build

here is the build I ran until I switched to Dark/Dark. I just solo’d gold on Invulnerability. I have run Invulnerability off and on for years. I find it to be an incredibly sturdy set with none of the downsides of Stone (movement/damage) nor the lapses of lopsided pure defense sets. It does not have a damage aura. It does have some of the finest layered protection in game
-
I mained Brutes for years. I am back on a Brute now as my main. I am soloing the entire game (every contact blue/gold/red) on a Dark/Invul Brute. To me this is the most survivable character that has almost no penalties and does good damage (specifically single target, AoE is meh) I run this as a high recharge version of a Hyperstrike Invulnerability build. High recharge supercharges the synergy of Dark/Invul and brings up the big buff power to near perma. Happy Bruting!
