My Earth/Time does that while hoping someone on the team will come and defeat the spawn before my super sweet controls wear off. But it's so fun! I have combo-keys set up so I can drop the AoE's right where I want 'em to neutralize the entire spawn. I just can't defeat anything on my own!
-
But go AFK in the Shard and some Rularuu will tear you to shreds before you can poke 'em in the eyeball. Even have a tough time with Shield/Stone there because the flyers are immune to Stone's ground-based stun and KD. Every set can pick a foe they can effectively ignore but then get wiped somewhere else. The worst/funniest is when I'm doing great tanking for a team then run off to gather a spawn and faceplant because the buffs wore off that I was taking for granted from the Defenders and Controllers 🤪

Yep, with Rad I quickly discovered my survival depended largely on whether the big Absorb shield (I can't remember the name of) was active. If it was down I had to make sure the team was close behind or I'd get whomped. If it was up I could take an alpha and have the spawn nearly defeated without worrying about it.

Yess - the Earth Melee version because it makes the earth pop up, crumble, and send little rocks flying everywhere 😎

DM/SD scrapper...should I make the switch to tanker?
ninja surprise replied to BusyBea's topic in Tanker
Stick with Scrapper. DM is still primarily single target, and with crits, works better on a Scrapper. Def cap is the same for both ATs so the advantage goes to Scrappers for more damage or Tank for more HP. -
Scrapper Melee Primary Testing: "Standard" environment
ninja surprise replied to Galaxy Brain's topic in Scrapper
Fire Melee makes me sad. I ran it up on a Scrapper, then a Tank, and now on a Brute, trying to get it to where it feels like it's burninating the baddies. But it's just slow. It works on a tank because I'm basically just wasting time 'till the team catches up anyway, but on a Scrapper I want to one-shot things and see Minions topple by the dozen. Or if they used the Blackstar animation and made it Fart of Fire, the only backwards-cone in the game! -
DM/SD is good and solid. DM/Super Reflexes can be better depending on your goals - fewer toggles and easier to soft-cap leaves room for more pool or Epic powers, or different IO strategy. Plus better defense debuff resistance plus scaling damage resistance makes for a very durable Scrapper. And you don't have to work your costume around having a shield.

Oh yeah, I love that one and the Electric Melee's Lightning Clap. And Thunder clap from Storm @Drazah Krad mentioned at the top of the thread. Everyone gets the Clap! I put a KB to KD in there with a ton of Acc/Rech and clap like T-Swift is on the stage.

Yep, and it really depends on power selection. Scrappers and Stalkers get the magic Crits to one-shot things left and right, which is amazing fun, but you won't be taking on large crowds. Tanks defeat slower, but are tough enough to last while you're defeating them. Brutes might run out of endurance before getting enough Fury to be effective. If you get an armor or primary that has endurance recovery, it helps a lot while leveling.

That's the spirit! Moar fun!

I was thinking about this the other day, and I imagine it should be more like when a real person walks through a real crowd, you actively twist and bend to get around people without bumping into them. You don't just collide and push them out of the way (except on accident, typically). Same thing when walking through a house or in the woods. You'll occasionally trip on something or bump into furniture, but you rarely snag on a chair, unable to move, until backing up and retrying. I think it'd be an improvement if more things were somewhat "intangible" to imitate a normal, not to mention Super, person's ability to easily move past an obstacle.

Evilest Vilest Nastiest Red Side Story Arcs.
ninja surprise replied to Snarky's topic in General Discussion
Mako's patron arc is the most ruthless of the 4. I think it was the toughest, too. -
Plus you get lots of time to type in chat! Shadow Maul on my Bio/Dark tank recharges so fast I use it instead of stronger attacks because it hits so many critters.

I love me some Fire Breath. I take it on every toon that can get it. I don't care that it's kinda slow, narrow, and doesn't have great range, I just love blowing fire at the badguys and watching the burn. What's your favorite sub-optimal power that you play purely for fun?

Glass or "spectrum" parts for staff melee
ninja surprise replied to seebs's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
That'd be cool. I'd also like more, big blunt sticks. -

I've been debating re-rolling my EM/Shield Scrapper as a Tank, because even though the Scrapper is soft-capped to everything it still takes so much damage I had to make a special "combine all insps into greens" to keep him alive. But I can't have all my toons as Tanks, can I? Variety is the spice of something or other? Besides I have a Shield/Stone and it's a total blast and I don't want to hurt its feelings.. On the other hand I've been almost exclusive on the Bio/Dark melee Tank. It's a royal blast, Shadow Maul is a nearly 360 degree cone, and I just love the "SLURP" sound FX of the Bio buffs. With the damage aura, it's how I want Dark/Dark to be and how I tinted the Bio auras.

"The events here seem beneath your notice."
ninja surprise replied to Ultimo's topic in General Discussion
Does it really though? Every bank mission I've done is "Get to the bank, defeat a boss and some minions." What are the more complicated missions? I haven't done every side mission at every level, but most of them seemed to be "Go into a building and defeat some mobs" or "Go into a building, defeat some mobs and click some glowies." Are those the missions that become more complicated? -

It's funny that you can do Tips in any zone and get missions equal to your level. I don't know which came first, and why the second didn't get level/zone locked. -
Weekly Discussion 85: T1 Immobilises in Control Sets
ninja surprise replied to GM ColdSpark's topic in General Discussion
Same, I always take the ST immob for containment and low-endurance-cost damage. If the damage could be front-loaded, that'd be great. What would be fantastic is if it could do at least 50% damage up front, and also keep doing DoT for as long as the immob lasts. So if a person used an immob set that boosts duration by 60%, the DoT continues for the entire time. That'd help against tough targets, being able to stack that with containment. Earth's immob needs a damage boost. -
There's a few different types of hostages in the game, and not knowing which one your mission has, and how it relates to the mission objective, can make a mission really frustrating. From what I've observed, hostages can be: Indestructible; only need to defeat the spawn around the hostage in order to meet objective. Indestructible; need to defeat the spawn around the hostage and then stand next to the hostage, in order to meet objective. Example: Second mission of Penny Yin TF. Need to defeat spawn, then stand next to the hostage in order for them to be "rescued" Defeatable hostage; need to defeat spawn without getting hostage killed. Mako patron arc has a timed mission where you are supposed to save some hostages but I didn't even realize they were in the spawn until they were defeated. Had to wait for the timer to run out because it wasn't possible to succeed or fail the mission after the hostages were defeated. Hostages that need to be escorted to the door. Can be Indestructible or Defeatable. But you don't know which until they get in an ambush or spawn. Most Radio missions have an indestructible hostage that needs to be led to the mission entrance. Hostages that need to be escorted somewhere else in the mission. Can be Indestructible or Defeatable. But you don't know which until they get in an ambush or spawn. Some can be teleported; some can't. Amy Jonsson - Indestructible, can't be targeted, can't be teleported, has to be escorted to the door but often gets stuck in the map. Not knowing how much work it would be, could a description of the hostage, or list of attributes, be added to the mission text? Example:

With Dark Melee, go SR. Then you get self-heal and end recovery that SR doesn't have, plus max defense and DDR. With most other primaries I'd go Nin for the self-heal and endurance recovery. -
Playstyle for a Dom, and their limitations
ninja surprise replied to Captain Fabulous's topic in Dominator
How about on an ITF when most things are Bosses or Elite Bosses? Just throw out some blasts, hold some Surgeons, and hope for the best? -
Another OG here, Ninja Surprise was Ill/TA on live and a royal hoot to play. I took TA purely to set up containment for Ill, and I got the Taser origin power to light Oil Slick. On Homecoming you can start with any origin and have P2W switch your inherent to one that does energy damage. Great idea lighting it with procs in Acid Arrow though! This is a fun combo. Command the battlefield from inside your invisible field!
