I think it's a cool looking set and like watching it in action. I've seen some really spiffy concept builds too. But then when I actually use Mass Levitate and have to wait or run around on auto-follow waiting for the entire spawn to land so I can attack 'em some more, I get annoyed. That's totally personal preference though, and I'm glad you enjoy it. On Boggle, I saw a different discussion where it is a huge Insight booster.

While y'all are arguing about the tankiest tank, we all know it's obvious that Ice is the coolest. 😎

I have a Sav/Bio Scrapper and it does pretty well. Savage is one of the higher damage sets on a Scrapper. And I have the Chance for Crit in Savage Leap. It nearly always procs and then my next two AoEs are double damage. It's great that Brute Savage gets fury-buffed DoTs though. And you have more leeway in hit points to survive between heals, so that's great.

WHY is your favourite toon your favourite?
ninja surprise replied to Scarlet Shocker's topic in General Discussion
Ditto, except that Miraculass is a Staff/SR Brute. Name, powers, bio, and costume all came together quite serendipitously. I thoroughly enjoy both powerset, their visual effects and sound effects. I think my other favorite character is Lumpy Puncher, a Bio/Dark Melee Tank. Love all the sound effects, powers, self-buffs, and being able to manage a lot of aggro. I have a lot of nearly favorites: Fire/Time Blaster is a royal hoot to lay waste with; loads of Scrappers, a couple Controllers... Never got far with Defenders, MMs, Corrupters, or the other ATs. I have a Warshade I love but it's so much work doing the tri-form dance. But I totally love the visual and sound effects on the Warshade! -
Scrapper Melee Primary Testing: "Standard" environment
ninja surprise replied to Galaxy Brain's topic in Scrapper
If you've never been on test, you can create a character there, boost it to 50, give it sets of IOs, and then run a few radios in PI in just an hour or two. Just find a build, replicate it on test and see how you like it. Much less time investment than powerleveling something only to decide you don't like it. -
Scrapper Melee Primary Testing: "Standard" environment
ninja surprise replied to Galaxy Brain's topic in Scrapper
🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ I guess it's been too long since I played my DM/Ice & Spines/Ice scrappers, or my Ice/Titan, Ice/Martial Arts, and Ice/EnM Tanks... totally forgot about them being defense + damage aura. Thought I had some Ice Armor Brutes too, but must have moved them to a different shard. I've been brainstorming a Temporal Armor set since Far Sight gives such good defense, and the various Temporal powersets for Defenders, Corrs, and Blasters have some good auras and attacks. -
Scrapper Melee Primary Testing: "Standard" environment
ninja surprise replied to Galaxy Brain's topic in Scrapper
Claws/Bio and /SR. Both are lvl 50 + some incarnate stuff. I think I like the Claws/SR more for the non-stop scratch action. Vs. the Bio where I have to keep clicking heals. But I do like having a damage aura... I wish a defense armor set had a damage aura. -
Scrapper Melee Primary Testing: "Standard" environment
ninja surprise replied to Galaxy Brain's topic in Scrapper
I have at least 2 Claws characters and they are a ton of fun. Then while running a TF or random team I'll see another character blasting away and think, "Hey, I don't have one of those yet that looks like fun..." Happily I learned about the "Search by powers/AT" on the character sector screen and that has prevented a lot of duplication because I can search for powersets I've already created toons with, instead of creating another alt with the same powers as a previous alt. I can pull up the old one, add a few more levels, then go to another alt. -
That doesn't work on LGTF. You remain locked at the leader's starting level regardless of what you do. Last time LGTF was the weekly I joined a team started by a low 40 who leveled up during the first few missions and our level remained the same. After Hami wiped us out a few times we tried logging out and in a few times to get the level to change, but every time we were locked at the starting level (We had at least one 50 go got the star during this). I summoned a GM who came in, turned into Sally, and defeated Hami for us. It was epic! Two of our team never came back during the log out/in stuff, so we finished the TF with six. I think it'd be cool if the Weakened Hami were a no-level Monster like zone event monsters.

I haven't played my Tw/Nin in a while, so I'm gonna check this out too.

You can copy to test and try it there. I'd suspect that defense and resistance are saving you a lot of healing though.
-
The irony being, a lot of the builds I see don't get the Brute to 90% resistance vs most damage types. Farmers cap fire resist, some other builds cap S/L. But most barely get to 75%. So I'd tweak the generalization to say resistance armors are better on Brutes because they have more HP. They take longer to whittle down, and get more from the armor's heal. Scrappers, with Defense armors, don't care about lower HP pools when they aren't getting hit. That's just weird, but I hadn't thought about the difference between a taunt aura and a damage aura. Ice has Icicles and Chilling Embrace, and Chilling seems to aggro lots of foes. I'll run through a room, touching them all with the Embrace, quickly exceeding the aggro cap. After I've defeated some, others will come running over if Chilling Embrace touched them.

Sounds good do it!

Breaking line of sight is a great way to force grumpy mobs to gather into a larger battle. Playstyle note: Assuming the player is playing aggro and crowd control, and not personally trying to defeat everything: Taunt a group far away and it'll approach to within their debuffed max range. But things like Rikti Drones, Mentalists, and other primarily ranged attackers will still stay far enough away to be out of the team's AoE. But if the tank runs back and past the group, either just around the corner to break LOS or far enough past the group, the taunted mobs will follow until they run into the rest of the team who will suddenly say "Woah! More mobs dude!" and start attacking them. Then you jump right back into the fray and commence punchvoke again. Confused me here - was SR supposed to be Super Reflexes or one of the attack secondaries?

You should have kept it but maybe moved it to a different server. Otherwise, 3 - 10 months from now, you'll start thinking "Hmm maybe I need an invuln/SS toon" and start fresh before remembering you hate it.
-
Totally understandable. After re-reading your first post to better answer your question, Claws works just fine for solo tanking. It puts out good damage, the build-up attack is great for Tanks, and like @Hjarki says you can proc up the attacks since you don't have to chase so many survival set bonuses. I suppose it also depends on the playstyle that best supports your burnout. The Scrapper will be frantic - have to keep on top of your Bio clickies and inspirations to stay alive. Like you said, the "functional regen". But oh boy do mobs melt fast. The Tank will be a less frantic, more cruise control. Still have to click Ablative Carapace before alphas but you can focus more on crowd control and attacking, with the Tank's bigger hit point buffer.

Granite Armor, crystal lava why there is no crystal lava?
ninja surprise replied to Blyzzard's topic in Tanker
The devs on Live never did it, and the new team hasn't either. No reason why. Either it wasn't a priority, too difficult, or they just don't care to. -
If I'm thinking about the right one, the banded arms are under the "Robotic Arms" options in Tops.
-
Cool name! Your build looks super solid with resists and defense way higher than they need to be. Personally I like having more attacks, but if the ones you have recharge quick enough to defeat stuff, that's all you need.

You could not consider me a true friend if I did not say this.

An occasionally frustrating thing about Savage is that Savage Leap can't target everything. Yesterday on a Miss Liberty, I couldn't Leap onto the web parts (those long pipe-looking things) in the first mission. One of the other attacks kept saying they were out of range too, even though the rest of the Savage attacks could hit it. Then on a Lady Gray TF Savage Leap couldn't hit the Gateway Portal Generators in the last mission with the Honoree. So that's annoying.

I discovered Savage a few weeks ago and have been having a blast pairing it with different things. From what I've seen on the boards, the consensus is to skip Hemorrhage and Blood Thirst but everything else is useful. Shred is good on Tanks because the cone and target cap are at the max. I usually Leap in, then Rending Fury, and Shred, then a ST attack or two until a PBAoE is recharged. I don't mind wasting AoEs on single targets because the sound FX and visual FX of the slashes is so cool 😎
