There is no Break Free strong enough to stop Scrapperlock.
-
You could try taking your regen with a Sentinel and that opens up a ton of new primaries. Dual pistols is like a scrapper because so many attacks are pbaoe or cone. Plain ammo does knockdown. Lots of other fun primaries. Just kidding, roll with war mace or battle ace depending on your character preference. Scrapper 4 life.
-
Yep, depending on secondary set, the only toggles a blaster has are the pool powers for travel or self-buffs, whereas all the 9 powers each from primary and secondary could be click attacks or power ups. That's a lot of clickies.

Oh man now I wish I could get stone Melee on a scrapper.

Regardless of the sets you choose, you can get the effect you want by using auras on your hands and feet and body (for instance SR with a fire or electric aura), and you can color the attack animations. Plus you start with 6 costume slots and you can do binds or macros to change your costume with an attack. You can use the same body costume with different auras and attack colors. So you can make dark Melee look like fire, or Psi blades all sorts of colors for different elements, or street justice that has electric, fire, or frosty fists. Man this is a great game!

I'm thinking my Dark/Dark tank is going to come out of the shadows...

Tell us. What's your favorite Scrapper combo?
ninja surprise replied to Crowcus Pocus's topic in Scrapper
I started a Titan Weapons / Ninjitsu a couple days ago, currently at level 31. I've tried TW with Ice, Willpower, and maybe a couple other armors except Bio. I just can't get into Bio. It's fun with /nin. Particularly since the hide lets you auto crit on your first attack! That comes in super handy when jumping into new spawns. Just need a little more recharge so the +end power recharges a little quicker, and more slots for +Def bonuses. -
It should show in the combat logs when it triggers, but otherwise just the combat stats. Know what your standard recharge rate is then after using an attack with it slotted see if changes to s higher number.

The anthem! I wish I had a copy of the lyrics because the song is spot on. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBo7piCWRn4

You can get it free with a badge, or go to Echo of Galaxy City and into the train station to get it. Otherwise at 14 you can enter through someone else's portal.

Looking for suggestions on the most effective AOE AT combos
ninja surprise replied to DrBasics's topic in Scrapper
My Spines/Ice Scrapper is a blast on teams, but a bit of a pain solo when tough bosses come out. It's great having two damage auras and stacking slows, less-resisted damage, etc. But only three single-target attacks... takes a long time to defeat some critters. Particularly those Devouring Earth, when they drop Cairns that buff their damage resistance. I spend all my time defeating Cairns so I can defeat one mob then they drop 4 more cairns! Over in the Brute/Tanks forums there's been talk of Street Justice replacing Spines for farming, and supposedly it has good single target damage too. So don't forget it exists too. Totally agree. My observation of team play is: "everyone will attack everything, regardless of whether anyone else on the team is already fighting it", and "It doesn't take 8 heroes to defeat one critter." My endurance is my most precious asset, so I'll try to avoid even attacking something with less than 1/4 health. The Defender can take that thing down. And when the spawn's down to about 3 nearly-dead critters it's time to move on to the next spawn. Particularly true if I'm the Tank or lead Brute. I'll get to the next spawn a couple seconds before the rest of the team; Just long enough get aggro and soak the alpha when the team arrives and begins Operation Mop-Up. Ain't nobody got time to wait for the tank to take a swing at the very last critter that was just defeated by the blaster but his attack is still gonna animate over a dead body. -
I've had fun with a Claws/Energy Aura Scrapper. Stalled out at 30 though because I have so many alts.

Salut mon ami! Je To make reduce toggles, in Radioactive Smash and Radiation Siphon you can replace Touch of Death with Kinetic Combat and then don't turn on Tough or Weave. Or just move one slot from Chilling Embrace to Energy Absorption and put three Recharge Redux in there. Then it recharges within 20 seconds - that's about 10 attacks then EA to get all your endurance back. Tu peut lutter a jamais!

Quest for all ATs level 50 with a full IO and Incarnate build.
ninja surprise replied to Camel's topic in Dominator
What were your favorite controller and blaster sets? You can just combine those. or do a sith themed dark/electric or something. Sky is the limit! -
Back to your original question: Yep DM and SR go great together. My first 50 on Live was a DM/SR scrapper and despite my altitis I played that toon a lot. Siphon Life and Dark Consumption are super handy. I also like Staff. As you can tell from all the different opinions, some don't like either the animations or the sound effects. I think the animations are fun (but I don't put my heroine in skirts/dresses since that looks silly with the spinning on the ground) . I like the power that sounds like a choo choo train chugging through the battle. I like the pool-queue shot that knocks down pesky critters. It's one of those things you have to try it and see if it clicks.

Expounding for readers... SR gets: Loads of active and passive positional defense (three toggles and three auto powers) Run speed buff 20% bonus to recharge Uber slow resist (i.e. when fighting Knives of Artemis and they throw a ton of caltrops you don't even slow down) Capped defense debuff resistance Scaling damage resistance so even if you do get hit you take less damage from each successive hit Stackable status protection that keeps working even if you run out of endurance and toggle-drop The best tier 9 ever because it's like getting Accelerate Metabolism, Speed Boost, and three Defenders' worth of force fields at the same time, all topped with a double back-flip. Comparing SR to other sets is like comparing a reliable Japanese automobile to a classic English sports car. Lots of people like to put a ton of fix-up work and maintenance into their English automobile / armor set and they can get that highly polished turd to perform really well and they feel really engaged with all the clicking and slotting it takes to maintain. By comparison, reliable old SR makes you set one power to auto, turn on three toggles, and then you just run around forever hardly ever getting hit and punching everything you see in the face.

QOL - Quitting to Character Select
ninja surprise replied to Vorlonagent's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Yes, make this faster. Like, just a "Quit Creator" button rather than having to click all over the screen. Maybe it's something I inflict on myself with all this altitis but I can't quit! -
3. If you don’t want aggro roll a stalker.

QOL - Quitting to Character Select
ninja surprise replied to Vorlonagent's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I was hoping for a quit button in the character creator, instead of having to hit the back button all the way back out. -
Perhaps I'm reading it wrong but removing Thunderstrike and then removing any fighting weapon from the Epic Pool seems to be going against what I was originally asking for, ie more fighting power. Or is there method in your apparent madness ? You're right - that's a max-survival, max-recharge, super expensive sapper build. So instead of doing damage it tries to prevent the enemy from attacking. The was CoH balances is that attacks trade damage for a secondary effect. Electric Melee trades damage for sapping endurance (and giving it to you sometimes), Ice trades damage for slows, etc. Only Fire is straight up damage with a side effect of more damage. So with electric melee you can either frankenslot to get Acc/Dam started then put in a bunch of damage procs, or get a bunch of recharge so Lightning Rod, Chain Induction, and Thunder Strike come up as frequently as possible. The trick is to accept what you wound up with or re-roll into something that fits what you want to play.

If you pop a KB->KD in Mass Levitate, do the critters stay on the ground? I've only tested the set a little on Test and was somewhat annoyed that with my target on autofollow, when they went flying my toon spazzed out trying to follow.

But then you're 3.13% short on E/N defense. It's better to go whole hog and six-slot it with three Eradication and three Cleaving Blow to max out Acc/Dam/End and get 4.38% E/N defense. Unless you're capping defense some other way. Eradication is a 10 - 30 set so you can't get level 50 IOs for it. But you can't get 50's until level 47 anyway, so might as well slot something multi-useful while playing the game to get there.
-
Claws is pretty quick. Dark Melee has a bunch of fast punches and also Shadow Maul which you activate when you want to type something funny in chat.
-
I suggest that's overkill, it doesn't burn that much end. Put in three of Eradication or whichever set gives the defense bonus for three slotting and make sure they all have accuracy. And Icicles doesn't crit, but it does plenty enough damage to justify running it.

Quick update: I put a Chance for KB into Trick Shot and it's hilarious. Also I had forgotten that clicking Domination re-fills the Endurance bar, that's a great self-buff. I also didn't know Domination includes mez protection, that's great!
