  1. Back to your original question: Yep DM and SR go great together. My first 50 on Live was a DM/SR scrapper and despite my altitis I played that toon a lot. Siphon Life and Dark Consumption are super handy. I also like Staff. As you can tell from all the different opinions, some don't like either the animations or the sound effects. I think the animations are fun (but I don't put my heroine in skirts/dresses since that looks silly with the spinning on the ground) . I like the power that sounds like a choo choo train chugging through the battle. I like the pool-queue shot that knocks down pesky critters. It's one of those things you have to try it and see if it clicks.
  2. Expounding for readers... SR gets: Loads of active and passive positional defense (three toggles and three auto powers) Run speed buff 20% bonus to recharge Uber slow resist (i.e. when fighting Knives of Artemis and they throw a ton of caltrops you don't even slow down) Capped defense debuff resistance Scaling damage resistance so even if you do get hit you take less damage from each successive hit Stackable status protection that keeps working even if you run out of endurance and toggle-drop The best tier 9 ever because it's like getting Accelerate Metabolism, Speed Boost, and three Defenders' worth of force fields at the same time, all topped with a double back-flip. Comparing SR to other sets is like comparing a reliable Japanese automobile to a classic English sports car. Lots of people like to put a ton of fix-up work and maintenance into their English automobile / armor set and they can get that highly polished turd to perform really well and they feel really engaged with all the clicking and slotting it takes to maintain. By comparison, reliable old SR makes you set one power to auto, turn on three toggles, and then you just run around forever hardly ever getting hit and punching everything you see in the face.
  3. Yes, make this faster. Like, just a "Quit Creator" button rather than having to click all over the screen. Maybe it's something I inflict on myself with all this altitis but I can't quit!
  4. 3. If you don’t want aggro roll a stalker.
  5. I was hoping for a quit button in the character creator, instead of having to hit the back button all the way back out.
  6. Perhaps I'm reading it wrong but removing Thunderstrike and then removing any fighting weapon from the Epic Pool seems to be going against what I was originally asking for, ie more fighting power. Or is there method in your apparent madness ? You're right - that's a max-survival, max-recharge, super expensive sapper build. So instead of doing damage it tries to prevent the enemy from attacking. The was CoH balances is that attacks trade damage for a secondary effect. Electric Melee trades damage for sapping endurance (and giving it to you sometimes), Ice trades damage for slows, etc. Only Fire is straight up damage with a side effect of more damage. So with electric melee you can either frankenslot to get Acc/Dam started then put in a bunch of damage procs, or get a bunch of recharge so Lightning Rod, Chain Induction, and Thunder Strike come up as frequently as possible. The trick is to accept what you wound up with or re-roll into something that fits what you want to play.
  7. If you pop a KB->KD in Mass Levitate, do the critters stay on the ground? I've only tested the set a little on Test and was somewhat annoyed that with my target on autofollow, when they went flying my toon spazzed out trying to follow.

      • Haha
  8. But then you're 3.13% short on E/N defense. It's better to go whole hog and six-slot it with three Eradication and three Cleaving Blow to max out Acc/Dam/End and get 4.38% E/N defense. Unless you're capping defense some other way. Eradication is a 10 - 30 set so you can't get level 50 IOs for it. But you can't get 50's until level 47 anyway, so might as well slot something multi-useful while playing the game to get there.
  9. Claws is pretty quick. Dark Melee has a bunch of fast punches and also Shadow Maul which you activate when you want to type something funny in chat.
  10. I suggest that's overkill, it doesn't burn that much end. Put in three of Eradication or whichever set gives the defense bonus for three slotting and make sure they all have accuracy. And Icicles doesn't crit, but it does plenty enough damage to justify running it.
  11. Quick update: I put a Chance for KB into Trick Shot and it's hilarious. Also I had forgotten that clicking Domination re-fills the Endurance bar, that's a great self-buff. I also didn't know Domination includes mez protection, that's great!
  12. With all this in mind I plundered my Grav/Earth and respec'd my Dark/Martial. Removed the melee attacks, enhanced the controls for more control and the shurikens for damage/recharge. Started doing some solo missions at -1/+0 to see how it went... boy do I run out of endurance fast. Trying to do better at pacing my attacks and not try to go as fast as my fire/fire blaster - maintain control, and do consistent damage. It'll take a little while, just be patient. And it's working. Got through a bunch of missions solo and now I'm at +0/x2 while I wait for Wentworths to send me some more enhancements. Joined a pair of Posi TFs, Yin, and Citadel and did just fine. Just hit level 39 and looking forward to getting stronger.
  13. I could go for this. Like Backpacks, something that's there but doesn't otherwise do anything.
  14. But on the other hand the game has hazards you can knock enemies into that prevent you from hitting them anymore. Happens all the time on DFBs with low-level stormies rocking Gale non-stop in the Lost caves, knocking critters into the walls so they can't be attacked anymore. Then the whole team has to sit around while the one or two teammates with pbaoe attacks slowly grind down the baddie.
  15. On the Paragon City Monorail zone menu, I get that zones are sorted by level, but does Steel Canyon *have* to list South above North? Then Skyway has North above South, and IP has North above South. Yes, in Skyway North has lower level mobs and IP is the same level across the zone. But could the menu list North above South so it's consistently North then South in the menu?
  16. Ah, so late bloomer regardless of perma-dom? I'll keep on chugging then 🙂
  17. Make sure your friend knows the KB protection in Grounded only works while on the ground. If they are hover-blasting they'll do a lot of flips.
  18. Old thread but I was looking for info on Frigid Shield and wanted to point out a few things: Sentinel Ice differs greatly from Tanker Ice Armor. No Chilling Embrace. No protection against Psionic, but Invulnerability doesn't have any either. Sentinel Ice Armor gets toxic protection from two powers: Hoarfrost (big heal) and Icy Bastion (fantastic T9) Frost Protection and Frigid Shield also give +HP and Absorb, and boost Regen. So a bare-bones enhanced Ice Armor Sentinel with the two +Def uniques in Permafrost would have about 30% Def to S/L/E/N and 50% resistance to Fire and Toxic (while Permafrost and Icy Bastion are active), 325% recovery and 540% regen. That's not shabby but still tough to get to the defense softcap. I think I'd chase recharge to have Icy Bastion up as often as possible.
  19. I haven't gotten a Dominator super high yet, and wonder if that's the problem. I've played a lot of Controllers, melee toons of all types, Blasters, and the occasional Sentinel. I even got a Dark/Electric Defender to 50. It just feels like my Doms defeat slowly and can't do enough simultaneous control and damage to make good headway. My Dominator attempts are: Dark / Martial Combat @ 32 Gravity / Earth Assault @ 32 Fire / Fire (Two of them because I got one to 16 then dropped it long enough to forget I had it before starting another and getting it to 22) Am I choosing poor combos or are Dominators just kinda wimpy until perma-dom and everything fully slotted? Or is it that even Blasters get more self-buffs? Most Blasters get a self-heal and/or endurance recovery, whereas in Dom secondaries there's only 3: Consume in /Fire, Life Drain in /Dark, or Drain Psyche in /Psionic. Do Controllers feel sturdier due to the buffs/debuffs helping survival during the weak-control levels? How do you get your Dom rocking in the early levels?
  20. To clarify, this is in the earth epic, so any controller can get it.
  21. You can try pressing command + shift + 3 to take a screenshot of your entire screen, saved to your desktop.
  22. Love Fly, always take it. Nothing better than Up UP and Away!
  23. I have graphics turned down on my laptop but I think Alpha Fists gets closest. I think it looks pretty cool with Street Justice.
  24. Old thread that popped up, I'd comment on your original build no Pont in the performance shifter proc in power sink, it'll already refill your endurance with just a couple critters around you. Dark Consumption could use some accuracy, maybe slot it as an attack that's up every 30 seconds or so.
  25. Conditions: In base with Salvage rack storage open. Count the number of Catalysts in storage. Have one Catalyst in inventory Do the Enhancement catalyze thing The wizard says 100% chance of success; hit Combine - wizard kinda grays out/pauses; click Exit Enhancement is unmodified; Catalyst is gone from inventory; Salvage rack Catalyst inventory has increased by 1 If you do this with more than 1 Catalyst in your character's inventory the combination will succeed but 1 Catalyst will be consumed and 1 Catalyst will be sent to the Salvage rack.
