Coyotedancer
I'm no good at putting together power sets myself.... But SOMEBODY seriously needs to make an Earth epic for Sentinels. It completely irked me that my Water/Fire Elementalist had to take Ice and color it green to fake crystal since there was no proper Earth pool for the AT. <_< Taker of screenshots. FoulVileTerror
Theme gaps (based on https://hcwiki.cityofheroes.dev/wiki/Ancillary_Power_Pools so if this isn't accurate, then I apologize for my errors): Scrapper / Stalker: - Ice - Psionic Arguable: - Electric (if Soul and Dark are two different things, then shouldn't Electric and Mu be as well?) - Energy (Body Mastery kind of does it, but I'd like to see something more distinct) - Earth (although we need Earth Primaries and Secondaries for those Archetypes too) Tanker / Brute: - Weapon - Psionic Arguable: - Dark (as mentioned in the argument for Electric for Scrapper/Stalker, Soul and Dark exist for those Archetypes) - Electric (same as above) - Body (see Energy for Scrapper/Stalker above) Dominator / Controller: - Stone for Dominators - Kinetic - Weapon Arguable: - Dark (Soul strikes again) - Electric (starting to notice a trend) Corruptor / Defender: - Ice - Weapon/Natural/Willpower Arguable: - Earth (although we need Earth Primaries and/or Secondaries for those Archetypes too) Blaster: - Psionic Arguable: - Earth (although . . . said it already for previous Archetypes) - Dark ('cause Soul) Mastermind: - MUNITIONS/Weapons/Willpower/Natural/-Something-! Arguable: - Earth? - Dark ('cause Soul) Everyone: - Biological/Organic/Poison/Toxic - Sonic - Radiation 3
Lockpick
Stalker Epic: Pistol Mastery (using the same numbers as possible from Weapons Mastery) Immobilizing Shot (Pistols Primary Animation with secondary animations of Throwing Dagger or Shuriken) Physical Perfection Executioner's Shot Targeting Drone Bullet Rain Actually, I would be fine if you could just take the Weapon Mastery pool and provide additional animations like: Web Grenade Pistols Shuriken Throwing Dagger Physical Perfection Shuriken Dual Weld Shock Grenade Throwing Dagger Targeting Drone Exploding Shuriken Exploding Grenade Bullet Rain Empty Clips I'm not sure if it is easier to build a new pool or add alternate animations, but giving the alternate animations gives a ton of options for player concept without worrying about maintaining a ton of pools.
Spectre7878
What I would love to see would be lots of Ancillary Power Pool choices across the board for all sets. I generally love to make theme characters and sometimes I don't like the options I have right now. I would love to see new powers added but also more options in each set as well. Controllers Dark Mastery Dark Blast - Ranged, Moderate Damage (Negative), Foe - To Hit Night Fall - Ranged (cone), Moderate DoT (negative), Foe - To hit Dark Embrace - Self +Res (Smashing, Lethal, Negative, and Toxic) Soul Transfer - Self Rez, Special Touch of the Beyond - Fear, Foe -To Hit, Self +Regeneration, +Recovery Thorn Mastery Thorny Dart - Ranged, Moderate Damage (lethal), For - Def Fling Thorns - Close (cone), Moderate Damage (lethal), DoT (toxic), Foe - Def Thorntrops - Ranged (location AoE), Minor DoT (toxic), Foe - Speed, - Jump Nature Armor - Toggle: Self +Defense (Smashing, Lethal, Energy), +Resistance (Toxic) Nature Aura - Toggle: Self +Acc, +Perception, +Recovery, +Regeneration, +Special Dominators Spore Cloud - Toggle (targeted AoE), Foe -Dam (All), -To hit, - Reg Nature Armor - Toggle: Self +Defense (Smashing, Lethal, Energy), +Resistance (Toxic) Entangling Aura - Toggle, For Hold Envenom - Ranged (targeted AoE), For -Def (all), -Res (all), -Reg, -Heal Nature Aura - Toggle: Self +Acc, +Perception, +Recovery, +Regeneration, +Special
Omega-202
Generally, I think Scrappers and Stalkers need more options, preferably ones that also include a snipe. As it stands, the PPP snipes are so good as single target nukes, especially when procced out, that they are able to replace something else in the build's single target chain and increase overall DPS. However, there's currently only 2 legitimate options for a snipe, Mu and Soul. Mace is a dud set and really should get its animation times lowered in order to be viable. I propose a new APP for Stalkers/Scrappers that fills a thematic and functional niche: Blast Mastery - Power Bolt - Sniper Blast - Explosive Blast - Transference - Transfusion (on a longer cooldown than the support version) The blasts would be tuned to have a KB mag of 0.67, like Energy Torrent in Body Mastery, so they're KD by default, but can be KB if slotted for it. The set would give Scrappers and Stalkers another snipe set, another set with a decent ranged AoE, but not as good as Fireball, and would open up some minor support abilities which these ATs dont have much of elsewhere. The support powers would be balanced with longer cooldowns than their support counterparts and Scrapper/Stalker's weaker AT modifiers. A lot of people would still go with Soul for Shadow Meld, or Mu for Shackles, or Body for endurance/slot economy, or Blaze for Fireball, but this would be a decent option that offers a mix of a few things that no other set offers.

If everyone has Regen, and Regen gets nerfed (again, as it should be) is it still a nerf? But actually, that would be interesting. I'm sure some Defenders and Corruptors would actually appreciate a set with Quick Recovery/Physical Perfection, Instant Regeneration and Moment of Glory, rounded out with a savage melee attack and some sort of control or boost power.
InvaderStych
Some variation of Temporal Mastery for ... um ... I guess ATs that don't already get Time sets? Thinking this through as I type, so plz forgive. On second thought, that doesn't make sense. ATs with Fire Blasts and Controls still have access to a Fire based Epic. Ditto, Cold, Dark, Etc .... So ... Time Manipulation Epics for everyone then. Treat it like an elemental set in terms of "reasoning" and fill different gaps than the other epics in some way perhaps? Would be nice to see melee ATs get some of the buff/debuff AoEs/toggles ported over into an Epic. The more I dig around the sets in Mids, the more I see interesting choices all around actually. hmm... I should actually play some of those time manip alts again ... 😄 Edited September 8, 2020 by InvaderStych You see a mousetrap? I see free cheese and a f$%^ing challenge. Troo
A Clown Epic Pool might go a long way toward satisfying the call for a Clown power set. Clown Summoning Power Set Short Description: Grants you access to the Clown Summoning Mastermind Set. Clown Summoning: With the Clown Summoning Power Set for Masterminds, you will be able to command and control your own circus of clowns. The minion pets are three traditional happy clowns, with squirting flower ranged attacks and balloon-sword melee attacks. The lieutenant pets are of the sad clown variety, and finally the boss clown is a vicious mime with a very powerful self-containment attack that puts himself inside of an invisible, shrinking box. Clowns arrive on the battlefield via a single tiny car that they all pile out of. 1 "Homecoming is not perfect but it is still better than the alternative.. at least so far" - Unknown (Wise words Unknown!) Alchemystic
Since villains already have exclusive Patron Power Pools, how about something for heroes too? Having a set of Patron Power Pools based around some of the great in-game heroes would be pretty nice, and perhaps unlocking them could be as simple as doing the Maria Jenkins arc over in Peregrine Island perhaps! The question is, what heroes are best suited for the job, Both thematically and mechanically? Do we take heroes from the Freedom Phalanx as inspiration, or do we instead opt for a different hero group such as The Vindicators or The New Praetorians? Or do we come up with entirely new heroes to take the stage? Perhaps ones that the Homecoming team create themselves with suitable story arcs designed as the prerequisite to unlocking these new powers? What do people think? 😅 Edited September 9, 2020 by Tyrannical

I like these a lot (along with others posted) but this really stands out. I think Pools can be fun. So, keeping in mind the limited resources, I'd suggest the options of a weapons pool. There would be a pool for a variety of weapons we already have such as Assault Rifle, Dual Pistols, Arrow set, Broadsword, Katana etc. None of the pools should have high end weapons but maybe some mid-range damage and usefulness. Each weapon would be a different pool so you can take 1, 2, 3 or 4 attacks from the same set. It would be another way to further customize your toon. So, if I have a toon that's a Brute...maybe Super Strength/Invul and he's a super powered barbarian. Then I may want to opt for the Broadsword pool and add that to my attack chain which will provide some variety and finish the toon concept. No, I haven't crunched numbers to see if it would break anything but I think if you keep items lower on the power scale, it could work! 🙂 Edited September 10, 2020 by BurtHutt
Alchemystic
bit of a tangent, but it's semi-related... Can we maybe change Mace Mastery on VEATs? Right now there are 3 powers that are pretty much identical to the Bane Spider powers you can access, and its a bit disheartening when there are other powers that they could use instead. 1 - Whirling Mace (replaces Mace Blast) 2 - Web Envelope (stays the same) 3 - Mace Beam (replaces Disruptor Blast) 4 - Jawbreaker (replaces Shatter Armor) 5 - Summon Blaster (stays the same)
Si1verg1ass
I’ve been WISHING for an epic power pool for controller that makes SENSE for a Plant or Nature themed character. Currently, they are sadly lacking (to me). I mean there is Stone, but that is not really a living, breathing epic. So I'm with Spectre7878 and Tyrannical in wanting a plant-based epic. I've tried to balance things out, either by shortening the duration of a power or not giving it damage. I'm not sure I've gotten it right, but something along these lines would be greatly appreciated. Nature’s Wrath (Controller Epic Power Set) Thorn Bolt: Single Target Ranged, Moderate DMG (Lethal/Toxic) End Cost: 10.2, Recharge: 8 seconds, Range: 60, Cast: 1.13 seconds, To-Hit: -10% (Tgt), Resistance: -15% Description: Thorn Bolt does moderate lethal damage to a single foe then poisons them with a moderate toxic damage over time. This poison eats into them reducing their to-hit and resistance. Animation: I was thinking the animation from the Widow’s Lunge attack might work well for this, though this is longer ranged than that attack. Nature’s Embrace: Self Rez, Absorb, Recovery, Regeneration Recharge: 240 seconds, Duration: 30 seconds, Cast: 1.25 seconds, HP: 35.13% (Self), Recovery: 150% (Self), Regeneration: 250% (Self) Description: You call upon nature’s powers to heal you in your time of direst need. Pulling power from all the life around you which raises you to full health, give you an absorb boost, increase your recovery by 1.5 times and your regeneration rate by 2.5 times for the next 30 seconds. Animation: I was thinking the animation from Earth Embrace would work, replacing the cycling rocks with leaves. Thorn Barrage: Cone Moderate DMG (Lethal/Toxic) End Cost: 13.1, Recharge: 16 seconds, Range: 40, Arc: 45 Degrees (8 targets max) , Cast: 2.13 seconds, Defense: -10% (Tgt), Damage: -15% Description: Thorn Barrage does light lethal to foes in a cone in front of you then poisons them with a moderate toxic damage over time. This poison also reduces their defense and damage potential as it weakens the target. Animation: I was thinking the animation from the Widow’s Dart Burst would serve this, maybe w/ a trail of leaves following the darts for a couple of seconds. Shell of Bark: Self +Absorb, +Res(Lethal, Cold, Smash, Toxic), Special End Cost: 19, Recharge: 200 seconds, Duration: 60 seconds (special), Cast: 0.75 seconds, HP: 50.45% (Self) Description: Your skin becomes bark-like, very resistant (like +25%) to damage from Cold, Lethal, Smash and Toxic) and gains a large Absorb ability. The resistance and absorb last for 60 seconds or until the absorb amount is exceeded at which point the protective properties of the bark shell are ablated away. This one doesn't last as long as similar powers, it is resistance based and it can be destroyed even before the duration runs out. Animation: I was thinking the animation from the Rock Armor, but reskinned to appear more wooden than rocky. Field of Brambles: Ranged (Location AoE), Minor DoT(Lethal/Toxic), Foe: -Defense, -SPD End Cost: 17.8, Recharge: 100 seconds, Range: 60, Radius: 30 (20 targets max) , Cast: 2.13 seconds, Defense: -20% (Tgt), Speed (Run, Jump, Fly): -50% Description: Causes thorny brush to spring into existence at the chosen location. The thorns pierce your enemies inflicting lethal damage as well as poisoning them. It also catches at them slowing their movement and not allowing them to defend themselves as well. Animation: I was thinking the animation from Roots, but the effect on the targets more like Time Manipulation’s Distortion Field.
Seravajan
I want more pets. 😄 Just grab the three Summon Pets powers and the two pet buffs from any MM primary. The special synergy effect is, that the two additional pet buffs will stack with the one from the primary MM pool and therefore will help with some pet issues. Only backdraw is that same pet buff powers will not stack but if you use different pet buffs then they will stack.

BurtHutt
I posted this a while ago but I would really like a SIDEKICK power pool. For this pool you completely design the look of your sidekick so you have complete customization over the look. So the tier 1 could be the ability to call in the sidekick and the SK would have basic attacks (implement MM tools here for your tray but may involve additional options). Tier 1 would have a variety of options and you would pick 1 path for the SK (a blaster, healer, tank, scrapper - so the sidekick could also compliment your toon). The subsequent powers would be to enhance the SK on whichever power route it was on (so maybe an additional 4 tiers and each tier would add a power). Finally, this pool would unlock ONLY at level 25 - no new toon gets a sidekick! C'mon! TIER 1: -customize the look of your SK -pick if the toon will be a blaster/corr, defender/healer, tank/brute, scrapper The subsequent tiers would be the ability to enhance the SK's powers or add powers. Each SK type (ex. blaster) would have it's own subsequent tiers unique to that class of SK. The key difference here might be the ability to customize your SK. This may happen for MMs one day so who knows. But, I think this would be a cool Power Pool and it's optional to anyone. 🙂 Edited September 10, 2020 by BurtHutt
BurtHutt
I have yet ANOTHER suggestion for an Epic Power Pool set: SHAPESHIFTING. I know this could re-purpose a lot of what we have. I picture this in the same vein as the Kheldian shape shifts. So, when you access the SHAPESHIFTER Power Pool, you can pick a form. Once you have the tier 1 then you can click on the power in your tray and it opens up the options for that creature (like the squid form etc). I didn't flesh this out further because I don't know how far the Dev team could take it. So, maybe the entire pool is open and you can pick whichever creature you want to shape shift into. A total of four different forms and all can be slotted if you like on each attack for each form. The forms could vary and if we're re-purposing existing materials, one option could be a giant Hellhound...or something like that. It would have a few attacks and maybe a special power here or there. Another form could be a snake creature (we have those all over the Isles). Maybe a giant bird? Maybe the Kheld lobster could be the look of a super powered bear creature? I really don't know what the Dev team can do but these shapes might be fun options and add a unique take on a toon. I do enjoy my tri-form Peacebringer a lot and that's my inspiration for new forms. Maybe a four armed giant could be one form? Perhaps a centaur? Maybe something like a transformer where your toon can turn into a fighter jet or mini tank (if it's a mech-type toon, it'd fit the theme big time). Perhaps one could be shrinking - toon would become very little and have better defence and so on. Lots of options and this pool could have like 10 different choices - take all 10 or take none! 🙂 Edited September 10, 2020 by BurtHutt
FoulVileTerror
@BurtHutt . . . that typo at the end of your third sentence in the second post . . . Oof. Suppressing that laugh hurt. I think I sprained an internal muscle. Buuuuut . . . a Sidekick-(Hench)Pet System would be pretty awesome, but I'm not sure Pool Powers (Epic or otherwise) is necessarily the place for it. I'd suggest it as a whole independent system unto itself.
