Fire Farmer and Accolades?

Hello,

can a dedicated/specialised fire farming alt also be a contributer as a team member outside of AE?

I ask because I am curious how all the fire farmers I see also usually have all the accolades as well and wonder just how they got them?

My farmer has no travel powers or team support powers (unless they are a valid gain to me as a farmer) and no stealth or ATT or TT et cetera!

So what is the methods they use to get the accolades, do they doorstep teamed up with a 2nd account regular alt that is doing the missions or do they use a non farming build as they level up then respec into the final build?

Do they just go team up with a farm build to level and do what they can and die a lot?

Can/do they run a Maria Jenkins and are they a leader or a member?

Would love to know how you did them 🤔

Would love to know which ones were the most painful or just awkward or even a breeze to get for your farmer.

Thanks

They are easy to get solo on 0 settings for missions.  Die a few times outside AE and you will get the debt badge easy also.....and semi afk while mobs beat on you as long as you have good regen, you will get 1 mil damage taken....and so on.

Heres link what you need...

My +2 fire farmer doesnt' have them yet....no big need.  One day I will grind them out for him.

Cheers

I'm not an AE farmer even though I mainly play Fire Armor. All the accolades are very easy to obtain if you put the settings to -1x1. They mostly involve running around clicking on things. You can skip doing all the TFs by doing the red side version of the accolade.

The real question is why do you feel you need the accolades if you're just farming? A bit more HP and a bit more EPS is of no particular use when doing easy content on a character tailored for it.

Just see if you're after something thinking it is important and it isn't.

Since my Farmer was leveled normally then respeced he acquired most of them normally. His farm build works pretty well outside AE but I created a #2 build so I could solo all but Manticore of the taskforces for Task Force Commander Accolade. Cost about 200,000,000 Influence ( ouch ), but made Posi 1 at level 15 run pretty smoothly. It is easy to switch active builds and makes normal missions enjoyable. You can switch active builds at any trainer

I have 2 accounts, any toon that I want the accolades on door sits and my other account toon which is a stalker btw runs the mishes.

Use Mids to plan your accolade runner out accordingly ie; enough attacks, toggles, etc across a balanced spectrum, attune all your IOs and your accolade runner is ready to go.

I've done this since I came back and all my toons have all the accolades they need.

My initial reaction is that for a Farming character, the accolades are probably not necessary. Several of them can be picked up rather quickly with PickUp Groups. Depending on if you go Red/Blue will determine how fast you can get the other ones... this is primarily based on which 'defeat' badges you need.

I will take you at your word that you also want that farming toon to "contribute on teams outside of AE." The truth is: any toon can contribute to (or be carried through) almost all game content.

I don't have a "fire farmer" but I've played with several in PUGs... if there is a common behavior I see with such characters in regular content that is nothing like a grievance, but has more of a 'shake my head' and watch them learn... it is a mix of:

  • The fire farmer can't resist a variety of enemy attacks <- not unexpected, but often comes as a surprise to the unitiated
  • The fire farmer plays "slow" <- often "I'll just stand here"
  • The fire farmer tries to "corral" <- which is IMO just another variant of "playing slow"

All of these SMH effects are best addressed by simply changing play style when outside of AE. PUG will tend to move quickly, especially on TF/SF. With damage auras, it is easy to get in over your head when trying to race through a map, as you will be causing a lot of aggro. You may have to wait to be summoned to the points of interest, or you can opt to play with the characters that aren't racing to the end to click a glowie.

Don't forget you  have multiple builds. Tweak one to do farming. Use a second one for regular content. Don't play like a farmer in regular content. 🙂

Many thanks for all the inputs guys 👍

I guess I was really asking out of curiosity about the benefits of having all those accolades on a farmer and I think the general consensus is that for a tricked out farmer they are mainly just bragging rights.

I can now go on blundering through my farm map on my truly average farmer gently PLing my own alts without fretting about power output sans accolades.

And also continue to play my main fully accoladed and just 2 badges from a complete set alt to enjoy my bragging rights. 😎

Thanks again, keep safe all 👏👏

Hmm, that might explain it. I have seen a tank do this recently. He would jump into a group then nothing...just stand there. The team would kill everything and he would run to next group.

I'll do this on my Dark Armor/Stone Melee tank sometimes if the group moves fast enough. At that point, I'm just there to take the alpha away from the Fire Blaster and taunt everything. Maybe I'll throw in a Fault or something now and again if I get bored or I see things dying slower than usual.

I actually got the +hp and +end accolades because I enjoy playing my fire farmer so much. Its effects are moot since I use Ageless for +recovery and I am soft capped in fire defense and resistance. I have a second build on the farmer for lethal/smashing caps and overall anything not fire farm related and the accolades help, but they aren't a really noticeable difference I would say.

Your other option is to go with S/L or Melee Defense and run the S/L ones instead of Fire. Then, you can easily do both without any other changes to be made.

Playing CoX is it’s own reward

My rad/fire brute farms extremely well, but it can also solo all the Freedom Phalanx TF's, so sometimes I'll use it on those to carry a team that might have difficulties otherwise. I'm sure my spines/fire brute would do fine as well but he doesn't have any accolades and clears a meteor in sub 3 minutes, so I haven't seen the need really to go get them.

There are a lot of SG's that are dedicated to farming and take their new farmers through the accolade gathering process.  I blame cookie cutter builds.

After all the years, I am still amazed and gladdend  by just how many different ways there are to get the same rewards in this fantastic game and by the ingenuity of our player base to think oitside the box😀

Ninja run can be used for getting around. I did my accolades for my fire farmer when we still had unlimited access to enterbasefrompasscode which of course made things very quick and easy. I also pick up knockback protection sg base buff whenever using my fire farmer outside fire farms, as that isnt necessary to have otherwise. Keeping a stack of purple insps means you can ignore your lack of real mitigation when applicable. For some of the accolade activities, like maria jenkins and synapse, i used an alt account and cleared them with my fire blaster as not only is it faster than building a team, you get double the merits ((or triple >.>) (or more if it is the wst))
