Conversion from Quickfoot to Thrust?

Ukase

Recommended Posts

So...a little puzzled on this. This is more of a feedback than a suggestion. But, I'm not sure I get why this conversion can happen.

In the AH, there is a Running category that only has thrust. And a Running & Sprints category that has Quickfoot & Celerity. My farmer had a Quickfoot that converted within the Running category, which I didn't notice it didn't say "Running & Sprints". Prior to Thrust being intro'd, there were only Quickfoot & Celerity, so in my head, it's either in category or out. Never paid mind to what category that was.

Since I neglected to take a screenshot of the actual conversion, I just kept crafting, figuring it would show up again. Celerity into Thrust. (Yeah, I burned the converters when I would normally just convert the rare out of category to something worthwhile. But, for the sake of illustration, I did this)

Can we not just lump Thrust in with the other two on the AH? Or, if they are indeed two distinct categories (as in Thrust will slot into some running power that the other two would not)

Is this as intended? Seems odd to me, but there's plenty of precedence for that.

It's the other way around.  Thrust can't be slotted into sprint powers so it's a unique category by itself now.

Working as intended.

There are powers that only except certain sets. For example, Sprint only accepts [Running & Sprints] or [Leaping & Sprints] IO sets, Running Speed enhancement TOs, DOs, SOs, Basic IOs, etc. Thrust is a Running-only IO set, which Sprint does not accept. Thrust can be slotted in travel powers like Super Speed and Speed of Sound.

It is intended. We wanted to allow for converters to be able to convert into and out-of these single enhancement categories so "Running" and "Running and Sprints" use the same conversion group (I believe it's called ECRunning, but my memory is fuzzy on that).

Outside of using the same category conversion group, these categories are treated as different.

Hmm...so the no-brainer conversion from Quickfoot to Celerity now has another potential outcome. So...beginning marketers may need a few more converters, but may also expect to make a few hundred inf more for there trouble..or not. Time will tell.

I wonder why they make Sprint, Swift & Hurdle so finicky as to not accept such things.

Thanks for bringing this up Ukase, and thanks Booper for the clarification. I thought for sure this was a bug and was going to devote some time on Beta later testing it. Looks like I will be devoting that time instead to updating my conversion possibilities menu, since it treats the two categories as separate for conversion purposes.

Swift and Hurdle don't take sets because players are dumb and would put the +stealth IOs in them and then complain when they have to unslot it to do escort missions.

@Ukase that is a sad number of convertors to have on hand. you're gonna get the carpal tunnel.

(maybe there is a bit of crackdown on or removal of the guaranteed yellow2orange)

My converter stash is like a gas tank on a '69 Plymouth Fury; if I don't have close to full, I feel like I'm gonna run out. I like to start each day off with 9999 on each farmer.

We need transcendent converters for Ukase.

EXIT:  this post is wrong.

actually, no.  That hasn’t changed at all.

Quickfoot will always convert to Celerity by category, and Springfoot will always convert to Unbounded Leap by category.  Soaring will convert by category to one of two rares, and Jaunt will convert by category to one of two rares.  So you are always one conversion from a rare.

The real pain in the rear is that there are now two new categories from 15-50 that only contain one set each.  And frankly, those sets are pretty much garbage, so rare roulette got more annoying with an equal chance of getting a defense set (yay!) or a leaping set (are you kidding me?).

Some of the statements in your post contradict the evidence in the top post, my own testing (see attached image), and the statement from Booper above. Ultimately it looks like converting by category from the uncommon to a rare in each of the 4 main travel sets is still guaranteed.

I stand corrected, thank you!  I did not think that Running and Sprints would convert to Running, much like I wouldn't expect Damage Resistance to convert to Defense.  I made an assumption that was inaccurate.

Now you see the purpose of my post in the first place. Per the AH - Running and Sprints are a different category than Running, yet they convert to each other, but they don't all slot in the same powers. A bit dizzying (for me) until you take a step back and have another look.

Oh that makes sense. The way I read and responded to your post originally was because I thought you were asking about slotting after crafting.

Eh, I probably could have worded things better.

OK, I'm very late and sorry to necro this thread, but I don't understand why, in Super Reflexes, Elude accepts Thrust enhancements and Quickness does not.  Seems like both are +Running (in addition to Elude's other benefits)

Anyone know the answer?  I searched the forums but didn't find anything.

Thanks!

Thrust is a travel power specific IO set. Super Speed and Speed of Sound.

Edit: ...and Elude apparently:
