Noted I hadn't done Invulnerability outside of my tank, so wrote up Candygram, a Titan Weapon/Inv Brute with a carnie mallet.  So far, so good, but only up to level 13.

I really enjoy the pairing of savage melee and radiation armor, (bio armor is also good, bit I've come to love particle shielding).  I'm also having fun with my dual blades/electric armor brute!

@Shocktacular, I have a rad/bio and it was okay.. but I think my build isn't that good.. do you happen to have yours in mids?

I'm not sure my build is that good, either, but I find her fun.  She's a bit squishier than many brutes I've played, but she mostly lives in Offensive Adaptation.  A good part of survivability is knowing when to switch to Defensive.  Destiny: Barrier helps a lot, too, of course 😛.  Also, I could probably swap out the "Chance for Knockdown" proc in Irradiated Ground for another damage proc, but I like seeing foes randomly trip, plus they can't hit me while they're tripping and getting back up, so it reduces incoming damage a bit (if somewhat randomly).

Want more from Praetoria? Check out my level 40+ Praetoria missions in AE! I've got 3 complete arcs so far.
Praetorians can get to AE in Pocket D by going through Studio 55.

I have three in the like or higher category. Claws/wp, Rad/bio, and Ice/stone. Ice/stone is as close as I have seen to a perfect build although that doesn't mean the build couldn't be better, etc. Any /fire Brute really simply exists for farm reasons, as I haven't been exactly blown away with fire for general purpose content, and yes, I have a general content build on one of them. I'm working on a Claws/ea, but only level 25 so far. I see no reason for it to not join the others in the like+ category.

Top 10 Most Fun 50s.

1. Without Mercy: Claws/ea Scrapper. 2. Outsmart: Fort 3. Sneakers: Stj/ea Stalker. 4. Emma Strange: Ill/dark Controller. 5. Project Next: Ice/stone Brute. 6. Waterpark: Water/temp Blaster. 6. Mighty Matt: Rad/bio Brute. 7. Without Hesitation: Claws/sr Scrapper. 8. Within Reach: Axe/stone Brute. 9. Without Pause: Claws/wp Brute.  10. Chasing Fireworks: Fire/time Controller.

I'm not sure I have a build in Mids if that's what you are asking, so it might take some time for me to even look that up. I took a break from the game. I haven't even looked at Mids in months, so yeah.

Point is, Stone is incredibly good. You can get create Def across all types and En Resist I think is the only obvious lesser stat from a mitigation standpoint. It has a bit of everything although it doesn't excel in any one aspect. I can't recall the diff setting outside of x8, but I'm sure the level was decently high, but I stood in the middle of a pack of ranged Psy attacks and kind of just laughed. I did a LR(EB) mission at +4/x8. One death and that likely was partly due to ignorance with the mission. Ice is just so incredibly defensive as Ice Patch is outright cheat mode for mitigation. That alone pretty much let me street sweep mobs which were +4/+5 to me around level 20 for a mission. I used Ice melee twice for that mission with two different characters. The first was a Rad/ice Tank. I soloed +4/x8 Council at 48, and I honestly didn't even need Ice Patch for it. I also wouldn't recommend it either as killing was outright slow. It was more of a test to see if I could do it. By all means, GIS has terrible DPA, but you can work in a epic attack or two to fill in for attacks. Ice has some DoT attacks and Fury loves DoT.

FYI, I leveled via solo 1-50 Red side, which I find much more difficult to do than Blue side. I IOed as I went along. Like I said, any build is somewhere in a stack of papers. The Mids build is somewhere in a folder, and someday I'll likely tweak it after I figure out the Incarnate side of things more. It just feels like it could be better. I might have gone too defensive. My basis for it was actually Croax's Ice/stone Stalker build. I switched the ATOs and just went from there.

I enjoy my ma/Regen brute immensely. It quit live before the power proliferations. Ma/Regen brute was what I had always wanted to make and I am not disappointed. It’s not a top tier performer, but it gets the job done without much fuss and is a lot of fun.

I made a super strength/energy aura brute that I was really excited about since that is a combo only available to brutes. I was actually disappointed. It performed great. Both sets are very good. It was very tanky, and did great damage outside of rage crash. But I just hate the rage crash.

Despite what I just said about hating rage crash, I still like the classic super strength/fiery aura brute. Hits like a freight train. You can proc out to be able to do something during the crash and it’s fun.

Lastly, I also very much enjoy savage melee/bio armor brute. It is fast paced and really feels like a crazed brute on a frenzy.

I think for the fun factor, since that is what makes me go back to characters, my ma/Regen is my favorite brute.

+1 to the Savage/Bio brute. The added benefit of Fury ramping the DOT damage for both Savage and Bio is very nice. So many orange numbers popping up everywhere haha.

I use to hate it as well but kind of gotten use to it, not that I like it, but I don't really think of it much now. I usually use that time to combine inspirations to what I want, while using light quick damage and taunts to hold mobs (if in group). Rage is ready to reapply as soon as the crash is done. For me it is one of the lesser of the evil crashes....lol. Just my opinion.

Classic SS/Invul is my main brute. Love all the ones mentioned above, and will be trying some that i dont have (alt-a-holic here), but gimme the classic anytime. I don't need to point out possitives and negatives, they are all well known, but as some mentioned knock downs/ups and such just makes the aesthetics look great. Maxing out Smash/Lethal isn't that difficult, while getting good resist from all except psi, which of course can be mitigated.

As I said, not new and flashy, but good ole classic. 🙂

Too early to say this is a favourite, but I just ran a Kat/Bio through goldside and that was much more enjoyable than I thought it would be. Lethal damage notwithstanding, the higher base accuracy of Katana and the +hit from Offensive Adaptation kept me from too many whiffs, and Divine Avalanche nicely supplemented the rest of the defensive side of things (especially considering I ran the entire 1-20 with just the 5 prestige enhancements and handful of low-end generic IOs). Should be a nice jump in power when I migrate to Paragon and remove my self-imposed limitation of no outside assistance. (And it's tempting to re-roll the same combo and take it through again, this time allowing myself to pay to upgrade & see how much more I can take on.)

A tanker at heart, but I've really been enjoying my latest project:  Elec/Elec Brute.  VERY tanky with melee defense around 42% without incarnates and outstanding resists.  Two AOEs, a cone and a chain attack make mobs melt...and Ionic Judgement is not only one of the best incarnate attack powers...but thematic!

And procs aren't affected, so any attack that is procc'd is still useful, during the crash.  Prime example is Foot Stomp with Armageddon +fire damage 😁

I like every brute I have rolled so far. Savage Regen and MA invuln are my tops right now. No maxed yet but leveling is such a breeze on a brute. I think the only primary I disliked was staff so far. Not for the animations but the damage just felt so weak even with fury.

Why yes I do know what a search feature is. However with the 1000 returns it is hard to dig through all that. So I ask in posts.

awesome tyvm!

Why yes I do know what a search feature is. However with the 1000 returns it is hard to dig through all that. So I ask in posts.

I'm a fan of Brutes. It seems Tanks are getting a bit more damage and a bit more AoE so I might be sliding towards the dark side....

I also am wondering if anyone can tell me if they are liking the revamped Axe set for Brutes? What did you pair it with? Have a build?

As far as fave Brute....tough call...maybe my Titan/Bio?
