Slot Machine's Random Challenge (the limited edition 2023)

I took the most interesting of 3. First roll was a Necro/Cold MM, second roll an Ice/Ice tank which seemed a little boring for a random challenge, third was paydirt AR/TA Corruptor. Jungle Ace, Son of an eccentric millionaire who took his family on an African expedition only to have their expedition killed by poachers. The boy survived and escaped further into the forest learning to hunt and survive on his own. Years later he'd be found by people looking for the missing millionaire family still and brough back to Paragon. Inheriting his family's estate and pretty much set for life, he grew bored without the struggle for survival and was still trying to get readjusted to the outside world. Seeing the rise of crime in Paragon, the Jungle Ace decided it was time for him to hunt Paragon City's big game, super villains.

I rolled an Ice/Energy Tanker.  His name is Ice Cubed on Torchbearer.  Currently level 9, and leveling up the old school way...no P2W, etc.  Having a blast!

I thought I was going to end up putting more time into the stalker of the two I created, but surprisingly, I have so far put more time into the DP/Ninja blaster. DP/Ninja is a lot more fun/effective than I expected it to be. Nin/Nin stalker currently sitting at level 4, but I know I'll get around to her since I like the concept/story I came up with for her.

Indeed we did, think we actually talked about Darkness control a bit. Glad you're enjoying the set though, it's one of my favorites and one of the first I latched onto when starting homecoming.

Uunthinkable has been through a few DFBs, Posi 1 & 2, a Faultline team and a Yin TF and is now sitting at lvl 23 (no xp boosters). Psi Melee really doesn't have a complete attack chain until you get Greater Psi Blade at lvl 22 (I skipped Mental Strike). Boggle (confuse) is a novel ability in a melee set but not convinced that it's useful. SR is a bit squishy at this level since it still hasn't gotten any AoE defense or its full complement of DDR (also don't have Tough, Weave or any set bonuses yet).

My Psi scrapper, Gentleman Spectre, has it but honestly I found it pretty useless for him. I doubted it would be any more useful on a Brute.

Celtic Flea made it to 50+1 and is working on accolades and other incarnates.  It was a fun ride.  SR is kinda funny.  You are unkillable unless they have boosted tohit or you get debuffed hard.  But even then, the scaling resistance starts ramping up and then the XP loss slows down significantly.

My Ice/Martial Dom isn't doing so hot. It's climbing the levels very slowly (currently level 21, soloing). The good news is, I can definitely see where this combo has potential. At my low lvl it already feels like I have giant wall of CC around me, but holy moly does my blue bar suffer. Might have to submit myself to pugging until I can get some IOs sorted out.

 

The Fire/Bio Sent however is going great! That's the one I'm leading a team full of roulette toons through redside on, and that's been a blast. After 3 sessions, we're already level 30. I have a good feeling that I'll be holding onto this toon even if the hype around the team peters out.

I took that thing thinking it was an AoE (derrrrrr....rrrreaddddd you foooooollll....). Haven't respec'd (yet), but have gotten a bit of use by boggling some allies among adds on solo missions. It's short-lived, though, because I'm running Fiery Aura, so whomever I convinced to join me gets a fire bath, and, since they're normally adds, you can imagine how long they last.

I was curious to see your progress on this combo as I had rolled one, but haven't played it yet. I can imagine it being tough on the end though with Arctic Air.

As with most Doms I've tried, it's been a slog solo. For this one, keeping groups locked down hasn't been an issue. It's getting them down before my end is gone. I think what's surprising for me is that I'm this close to perma-Dom with only hasten and FF-proc Dragons Tail spam, so I'm pretty sure things will change for the better at 30.

I love Doms but when I'm leveling them I usually invest in Recovery Serum, and my insp combination macros go from reds to blues.

Fleeting Bitterness

 

 

 

Making this a redside exclusive toon probably hurt the progression process more than it helped, but I finally reached level 30 on this thing. I should really stop doing this whole "nope I'm soloing all of my low lvls and that's final" thing when it comes to Doms, but after amps, IOs, recovery serums, and lots of blues, I was finally able to play this one smoothly for a bit. 2 sets I know nothing about, both not winning any awards in their respective categories, but the combo does attribute itself to a pretty unique experience. I would recommend it to anyone looking to jump into melee and slow the pace of battle allll the way down. Anything standing next to you has their entire life put on pause while you whittle away at their HP.

 

Here's the blueprint I was using to experiment with power choices. Not a masterpiece by any means, but hopefully will help the next person wanting to try the combo:

Lord of Skulls

 

 

Fire/Bio Sentinel is shaping up to be a real blast to play. This is the toon I'm using to lead a group of 8 roulette toons (we're currently on hiatus at lvl 34 so we can play the page 6 arcs when they drop), which, due to the nature of the RNG, I ended up being one of the main DPS for the team. I'm glad this ended up being a team-centric toon, because there's a good chunk of time where I have 3 attacks and that's it. Granted, they're 3 really good attacks, but I spend more of my time spewing garbage on Discord than I do blasting. Looking forward to taking this one all the way to 50+.

Hey there, just wanted to let you know you talking about your journey with Ice/Martial made me roll one a few days ago and am happy to report Snow-Dragon is 50 and going through incarnate stuff. Went Ice/Martial/Ice to be lord of the patches and IO'ed out he chews through mobs (And blue bars still). One of the most fun toons I've played in a long time.

Passed the challenge with days to spare! Mostly.

 

Atomic Tiger made it to 30 today. Took him through Praetoria as a Loyalist. Went to Paragon City and soloed except for Posi1 & 2. Katana was better than I expected. I think not choosing a katana for a weapon was the key. Rad was better than I remembered. I definitely had fun.

 

Sundog did not make the cut. He was fun, and I really liked his look and his background. But I'd made him for our theme team, and the team decided to focus on vigilante/rogue stuff, and Sundog felt more like a Hero. So I shelved him. I may pick him back up later, or may even reroll him.

 

So, that meant I had to make a new slot toon. I went back to the slot machine and got: fire/regen sentinel, beam/regen sentinel, and peaceshade [sic]. In the end I went with beam/regen. Thus was born Ragnar the Troll. Mostly teamed with him, and he was (as expected) a blast.

Hit 30 yesterday. Not sold yet. With 3 ST attacks, a cone and a PBAoE, I don't have enough recharge slotted yet to avoid gaps in the attack chain. Haven't got Weave or all the set bonuses yet, so only at about 32% defense. I'll try taking it to 40 to see if I like it better when it's more fully slotted.

Fun! I ended up with a staff/bio tank. I've played bio, but only the brute version and didn't love it. Maybe tanks have a bit more leeway in the clicks. Never played and rarely see staff. Looks okay on paper.
