In my opinion, Night Tank no contest. They have some DDR, scaling resists, and close to the same HP. Placate is also a good defensive tool if you are solo. Also, they are melee oriented which is what you want when you're covered in mobs. Though I don't take, Night Widows also get Elude as emergency power. Crabs get no DDR, no placate, weak melee, no emergency power. They do get a heal. Night Pixie on Excelsior Introduction to Arachnos Widows - Night/Blood/Fortunata

Just ran a retooled a bane I had stale into a crab last night, and they do get some DDR, from what I saw, not a lot but there is some there. I guess their main emergency power, is more their alpha with Omega bomb with the taunt aura is puts up. But they are naturally tanky with the HP, def, and resistance values. But I think I prefer my Night Widow a bit more for tanking as melee > range for that roll. Are you running Ageless Radial? Night Pixie on Excelsior Introduction to Arachnos Widows - Night/Blood/Fortunata

Are you running Ageless Radial? So for Bane builds they do not get DDR, I run Ageless on them, but my Crab Spider, did have some like 40 or 50%~? I do not have Ageless on him yet, as I have not crafted that for him yet, as I am rebuilding his incarnate powers. I will check when I get home to make sure I am not off. But I know when I got some -def from Longbow I was not absolutley destroyed like my Bane at times. ---EDIT--- Went through and checked, and it Crab does not get DDR, when I was scouring it, there might of been a lingering Destiny buff at a hotspot which gave me a small amount. Still good to know Bane/Crab do not get DDR, so Ageless is good for them Edited March 14 by Snokle 1 Psicy Chill - Ice/Psi/Psi | Sive Ni Brielan - Plant/Earth/Fire | Elemental Elder Lord - Earth/Fire/Fire | Selinia Baneheart - Dark/Therm/Fire | Mylia Stenetch - Necro/Dark/Soul | Radiated Shot - Rad/Arch/Mace | Nameless Witch - Storm/Water/Mu | Phantom Racer - Fire/Cold/Scorp | Neera Darkspar - Beam/Temp/Soul | Neera Etra - Dark/SR | Shieldbreaker - Elec/Shield/Mu | Frozen Tombstress Ice/Rad/Ice | Subliminal Darkness - Psi/Dark/Psi | Mirana Darkblade - Katana/Regen/Soul | Máistir Fiach - SoA Huntmaster | Night Reaver - SoA Widow | Sweet Senpai - SoA Bane

Glacier Peak Posted April 8 Posted April 8 (edited) 5 hours ago, Scarlet Shocker said: Cool I stopped reading your wall of text at your 2nd para. Do a cheap option I won't speak for @KaizenSoze, but in my experience, in order to really harness the truly awesome power that can be wielded by an Arachnos Widow, it requires a substantial investment. I'm not just talking about inf either, though with three build slots it might be my most expensive character. There's also the opportunity cost of trying out new things in different situations that players have learned from over years of playing an Arachnos Widow. Time is an investment. Some of us were fortunate enough that players like @KaizenSoze, @Bopper, @Harakh, @Gulbasaur, and others have passed along what they've learned in the form of their fantastic builds and considerations. I didn't know I could solo the ITF on my Arachnos Widow until I read @Bopper builds. I didn't think Elude was a great power until I discussed it with @nihilii. I didn't know how important an Immobilize power was until I read about it in a @KaizenSoze build guide. I thank the Arachnos Widow community for staying active. I know it's the lowest population Archetype on Homecoming. Glad they've shared as much as they have, as I really enjoy playing my Arachnos Widow. After leveling up my Fortunata, I might choose one VEAT tank to level. Sorry missed this question. IMO. Night Tank is much better. They are close in HP and the Crab will have better base resists. Night Tank has scaling resists, stealth, placate, and most importantly some defense debuffs resistance. Crabs have no DDR. Of course, I am talking about playing them in extreme content. In general content play both are fine. Night Pixie on Excelsior Introduction to Arachnos Widows - Night/Blood/Fortunata
Alicia Jewel Posted July 26 Posted July 26 I can't get any of the data chunks to work in Mids; they all just give me the "Invalid data chunk detected!" error. Do you think you could upload the build files?

EmperorSteele Posted August 15 Posted August 15 @KaizenSoze, I have a bone to pick with you. I used your Fort build as a guide, though I swapped a power or two, and slotted some things a little differently. Soft capped range and melee def WITHOUT mind link or the stealth power active, good damage, good control. So why am I complaining? It's TOO GOOD! Dudes can't touch me, and they all melt in seconds anyway! There's no challenge anymore! But no, for reals, thanks for posting these builds, they're a great help! 1

tidge Posted December 2 Posted December 2 I've been working on an alt-Soldier/Bane(*1), so I peeked at the first post to see how my choices compare... I noticed that the posted build included two Steadfast Protection: Knockback Protection pieces. I don't use MIDS, so by my rough eye it looks like that build has 11 points of KB protection (including the unique mistake); it would be trivial to move a slot such that the Karma 4pt KB protection could be included. I have a different set of goals for my current project than the posted build, but I do think that 11 points of KB protection is a good target, since: It is pretty easy to hit with Gladiatior's Armor (going to be used anyway) and a pair of 4-point uniques With the SG base 10-point buff, it puts a build over the 20 point FREEM! threshold I've had a handful of other characters (different ATs, mostly Melee with Dark Armor which needs to chase KB protection) where I had the ability to relatively painlessly get to 21 points (protection) from enhancement bonuses but usually I stop at 11, 12, or 14 points depending which sets I am using (11 and 14 are more common for me than 12). *1 The lack of DDR is my biggest concern with my current build. For a hybridized AT, I definitely prefer the Fortunata... but I wanted to give the Soldier another try.
Hedgefund Posted December 2 Posted December 2 Not sure what is meant by "unique mistake" but the Steadfast -kb pr%c is not unique. Neither is BotZ nor Karma. 1

If you are looking for a Huntsbane builds. Try this one, it's ranged and heavy on support. It's a safer and more relaxing playstyle.
