More leveling as a goal is contra-indicated here. I can understand it from that perspective. I took it to mean the missions during leveling and not the actual ding-ing. If someone posts a reply quoting me and I don't reply, they may be on ignore. (It seems I'm involved with so much at this point that I may not be able to easily retrieve access to all the notifications) Some players know that I have them on ignore and are likely to make posts knowing that is the case. But the fact that I have them on ignore won't stop some of them from bullying and harassing people, because some of them love to do it. There is a group that have banded together to target forum posters they don't like. They think that this behavior is acceptable. Ignore (in the forums) and /ignore (in-game) are tools to improve your gaming experience. Don't feel bad about using them.
Marine X Posted December 14 Posted December 14 Ouroboros missions have always been my favorite way to find something to do. If you go to the Pillar, click on a mission range, then see all the Story Arcs that are not marked in Gold, it shows how much you haven't done with that Character. Many are ones you outleveled, some have badges, some are retired content, but I really enjoy a lot of those Arcs. For every contact choice you make, there was probably another choice you could have made, and this is a way to see what that would be like. 1 " When it's too tough for everyone else, it's just right for me..." I'm working on badge hunting ATM but what are some easy to do things I can do that are not leveling or task forces until my burnout with leveling has passed? Basically due to your saying that you dont want to devote time to other activities in game and want only easy things, you're narrowing down your possibilities as most of the content of the game revolves around the things you say you dont want to do. 1. You dont want to roleplay. 2. You likely dont have a farmer toon built yet for influence farming. 3. You'd likely not want to perfect lowbie money making methods either. 4. Base building likely isnt your cup of tea. 5. You'd (Currently) probably not want to try to get the best scores on the ice slides in the chalet xmas area. 6. You'd probably not want to farm candy canes from present hunting, or other similar holiday activities. 7. You'd also probably not want to stand around under atlas and troll general chat. 8. You'd almost guaranteed not want to teach new players how to play the game either. List goes on but my take on this is that really there's nothing that is going to suit you because your wants more or less outside of your current badge hunting mentionings, arent really matching the reality of what it entails to play the game. *shrug*

That sort of contradicts your original statement that you dont have the time to devote to playing another game. I suspect you got Return to Moria (yes I've played it) and if so, you're going to find it tedious by about midway in the game 😛

Yea it's return to moria. It's free.
Andreah Posted December 14 Posted December 14 One thing you can do it run a few pick-up-group radio missions. Even if you don't have a lot of time, you could advertise a "quick-couple-missions radio team" and fill almost any time of day. Advertise them as "RP" or "RP-friendly" and you'll get get some lite RP chatter too. You'll have some fun, get some drops, vet/incarnate xp, meet people, put villains in the lockup, etc.,
Ukase Posted December 14 Posted December 14 I have felt this way before...and really it was just about the latest patch with the name policy began to be implemented that I decided to simply play my level 50 fire/natty. I am somewhere around vet level 38 or so. Got about 1220 badges or so. Somewhere around 200 hero merits. And the inf keeps rolling in. When you don't make alts, you don't have to sweat farming or marketing. Just do the stuff that might be interesting on a given day. A break from CoH isn't the worst plan. Just be sure to check in for new content so you don't miss anything. 1

Oubliette_Red Posted December 14 Posted December 14 One thing I do is hit areas that in general are rarely visited. Just the other night a friend and I were running Max's arc in Dark Astoria and I know I've played through all the content back during legacy, I honestly cannot recall these missions so it was new and shinny in a Dark Astoria kind of way. Also, while it's generally kind of a ghost town I enjoy playing through Praetoria content either solo or teaming with a friend or two. While I never really could get back into RP'ing in HC I liked to play my Praetorians as though I were, so they would usually stick to a path with regards to their Gold-sider alignment, like my ex-Shredder that offered up her crew to Neuron in order to get jacked up herself to become more powerful. Dislike certain sounds? Silence/Modify specific sounds. Looking for modified whole powerset sfx? Check out Michiyo's modder or Solerverse's thread. Got a punny character? You should share it.

I'm working on badge hunting ATM but what are some easy to do things I can do that are not leveling or task forces until my burnout with leveling has passed? I do a few different things, sometimes in combination. 0) I'm pretty good at pacing myself, so I try to be aware of what 2XP, Patrol XP, etc. can do if I am trying to do specific content. I mention this only because if there are later levels of the game you want to go through faster, you may want to hold off on collecting Patrol XP from exploration badges until those later levels. 1) I do zone arcs, either at-level or via flashback. These are all pretty well-contained and good for solo play. Blue side has more of these, the red side arcs from a similar era are also good, but they tend to have more zone hopping (even on short arcs). 2) For lower level characters: If my character has an AoE, and somewhat has Endurance under control, I'll solo whatever content I have handy but at a difficultly like -1x4. The ToHit mechanics mean taking fewer hits on the chin, but there are more enemies to deal with. It makes content a little bit more of a mad scramble while leveling up.

It’s not a goal in its own right. 15 hours ago, UltraAlt said: I strongly disagree with this statement. Cool. For me, leveling is almost never the goal, but I always want to have *A* goal. It might be a badge. It might getting a particular incarnate salvage. I have characters built for helping on incarnate trials - they're already fully finished and tier 4, but they still have a goal. And, to be fair, sometimes I do have a goal of leveling - like if I want to be high enough for a certain task force that will be featured the next week. I find it fun to have a variety of goals. Originally on Infinity. I have Ironblade on every shard. - My only AE arc: The Origin of Mark IV (ID 48002) Link to the story of Toggle Man, since I keep having to track down my original post.

I do that constantly. I find it very healthy. Some things I've done when I tire with the leveling grind: 1. Review my characters to see what they're lacking. I'm always surprised when I find out a long-played character hasn't got all the badges for Drowning In Blood, for example, and it's a relatively quick trial to run. 2. Shuffle characters not being played to each of the Day Job locations to be earning badges and benefits while you're elsewhere (including playing another game). 3. Maintain a gold-side character. Don't rush him up the security rank/threat ladder. Instead, be willing to turn off XP for long chunks of time in order to fully complete contact story arcs, getting a fuller feel for the Praetorian story. I don't play my gold-side character constantly, just a mission or two at a time. It's like eating fine-quality chocolate: something to be savored, not rushed. 4. Try an AE arc 5. Look for the lesser done content and invite a team. Examples: the Zig prisoner breakout on the streets of Brickstown, getting your gold badge on the ski slopes, doing the "Who Will Die?" story arc (but perhaps just a contact per session), the gold-side trial (which name I can never remember) which runs very quickly, hourly, but nobody seems to remember. I ran all my first 15 or so characters through this when some kind soul took a few weeks to invite teams to it hourly. 6. Work on getting enhancement sets for your characters, including those under 50. There are folks who spend hours with the Mids Reborn Hero Designer. I personally don't have the time for that, so I research what I can and add enhancements sets in as I can. One day l'll have a completely tricked-out character, but I'm in no rush. 1
starro Posted Monday at 12:48 PM Posted Monday at 12:48 PM Turn up difficulty settings too. I found myself on auto pilot and not feeling engaged. With more and stronger mobs on screen you cannot just go thru the motions any more and spend some times making new tactics. Pineapple 🍍 Pizza 🍕 is my thumbs up.

This: Advantages: -- It is best done solo, ergo you can take all the time you like, at any pace you prefer, and stop/return as your schedule permits. -- You have to turn off XP several times during the course of a run, thus the opposite of leveling. -- Gets deeper into mission text and exploring around than rushing through them does. -- Praetoria is cool. Bonus points for getting the exploration badges and doing the zone events. -- Can be done more than once depending on where you start (Loyalist/Resistance start points). -- If you twink the character and buy yourself a Team Transporter you get the White/Gold skinned one. Praetorian starts should get to keep this, imo, but that's another thread ... Warnings: -- Read through the thread carefully, some folks have run into issues either out-leveling a contact or in some cases killing them before doing their missions. My run was snag-free, but there are some traps. -- Always do the tutorial in order to get the "double-agent" options within the whole "side-switching" framework. -- It helps to keep notes handy on when to stop XP, which choices to make when, etc. You see a mousetrap? I see free cheese and a f$%^ing challenge.

I’d make it more general: just change the difficulty from time to time. Especially if you’ve been on the same difficulty for a long time. For totally different feels, try both -1x8 and +4x1. (Or less extreme as needed; this isn’t a competition, it’s for finding fun things to do.) 1 The American Dream, Willpower/Kinetic Melee Tanker, Everlasting.
Apogee Posted Tuesday at 12:09 AM Posted Tuesday at 12:09 AM (edited) One of the great things about our game is that there is an abundance of things to do. I often find myself bored with one aspect of the game and then I switch to a different part to change things up. When I get tired of leveling Blueside I switch to Goldside and turn off xp. When I tire of that I farm. Lately I have been working in the costume creator to improve my costume designs. There is so much you can do. Run Goldside content Run Redside content Run Blueside content Run Ouro content Run AE content Run Farm content Badge hunt Base build Craft IOs Play the market Run challenges (no death, brawl only, any other craziness you can think of) Do some PvP Roleplay Remake your build Remake costumes Engage in the forums Theorycraft in Mids Build a spreadsheet (for CoH) Be active on the Help channel Play on a team (instead of solo) Lead a team Beta test ... and finally, make a new Alt I am probably forgetting many other things you can do to change things up. If all else fails, go play something else for awhile. You will return, or not. But we will keep the lights on for you just in case. Edited Tuesday at 12:10 AM by Apogee

My main has only 2 story arcs left on hero side before I switch them to red side to do all the story arcs there. I've made over 9k in reward merits alone from all the hero story arcs and only repeating story arcs from Pretoria which involve multiple badges depending on story arc decisions. You can also get badges depending on what parameters you set the missions at, like no Inspirations or travel powers etc. Some of those decisions can make a +1/+1 difficulty feel like +4/+8.
