Sorry if this isn't the right place but hello!!

Completely new, didn't even install the game yet but would like help regarding the servers. Are the created characters bind to a server, or can we jump in between (like GW1)?

If bound, what server do you advise for an European player? I play mostly at night.

Remember playing this soooo many years ago for a couple months and having a blast. Can't wait to retry.

Hi, welcome to the community. You can transfer characters between shards. I think there's a 10 transfer limit per week though.

Technically kinda correct.   Five transfer tokens are available and those get refreshed every three days.  I don't know if the refresh is just done every three days, or gets refreshed three days after using a token.

It's 3 days after using a token.

Reunion is the EU server but most people play on Excelsior and Everlasting. I'd pick one of those two regardless of your time zone.

Also, be wary of in game help channel, trust but verify. The community is helpful but there's a good deal of misinformation out there as well. Ask your questions with specific context and be mindful of people that give you narrow answers and don't take the time to ask you for proper context. If you seek detailed responses to your questions, then I recommend the forums.

Welcome to the game!

Welcome aboard!  You get 1000 character slots per server, so what I'd suggest would be to try all sorts of ATs and powersets - go crazy, and try as many different characters out to see what you like.  Once you do, then I'd recommend looking at the server status pane on the right of these forums, as well as doing a quick skim of each server's sub-forum, to see if what you're looking for is strictly the busiest/most populated server, or whether you want something with a different "vibe" to it...

Many thanks for everyone and the useful answers. See you in game.

I'm coming into this late, so sorry about that.

Reunion is the server that is in Europe, so if you are having lag issues I would use that one.

Yes, Everlasting is the RP server. It is also the second most busy server.

Excelsior is the busiest server. It has all that goes along with that.

When you come to the forums, you can see the server populations toward the upper right.

If you are going to solo, I would play on Reunion due to your location.

If you want to team, - of course - the more populous servers are the way to go.

Population fluctuates during different times of the day.

We can make 1000 characters per server, so don't feel bound to one server.

I have characters on all of them and jump around as I feel like it; based on my feeling to play a certain character, play a certain archetype, play a certain level range, seeking for enough players to play at certain level ranges, or a higher chance of finding someone else that wants to recruit for something. Also, the players on the different servers often have their own server-based flavor.

My suggestion as well is to make character(s) that that you think would be cool to play. Don't worry if they are going to be OP or not. Just make what creativity leads you to create. Lots of powers to try, tons of costume parts to choose from, and plenty of power customization options.

If you need help in game use /help (make sure it is visible in your active chat tab!)

You can use the menu to quit out of the game or use /quit, but make sure you leave your character someplace safe. I would suggest a day job location.

If someone posts a reply quoting me and I don't reply, they may be on ignore.

(It seems I'm involved with so much at this point that I may not be able to easily retrieve access to all the notifications)

Some players know that I have them on ignore and are likely to make posts knowing that is the case.

But the fact that I have them on ignore won't stop some of them from bullying and harassing people, because some of them love to do it. There is a group that have banded together to target forum posters they don't like. They think that this behavior is acceptable.

Ignore (in the forums) and /ignore (in-game) are tools to improve your gaming experience. Don't feel bad about using them.
