How much content do we have, anyway?

So I was lying in bed last night and started trying to quantify how much "content" was in the game.  So I thought about going to Ouroboros for both sides and add the total together, less the co-op stuff so they aren't double counted.  Then add all the TFs and trials and the Signature Story Arcs.  But then I remembered we also have repeatable contacts in some zones.  And some characters have additional missions that aren't part of an arc or badge so they aren't in Ouro (Maria Jenkins, for example).  Then we also have the Star Challenge stuff that takes existing content but adds new NPCs and effects and tricks that makes them significantly different than their base level.

 

And that doesn't even touch upon base-building, costume creating, build-making, role-playing and all the other player-made content in AE.

 

So . . . I'm about to go into the game and grab some of those numbers.  If you think I'm missing something, please let me know and I'll add it.

Praetorian story arcs are in Ouro.

This was a question asked of the Legacy Devs during a HeroCon and if memory serves me correctly (not going to lay any odds on that <.< ), it was stated that there were in excess of 10,000 missions.

And yet, i still hear people say "There's not enough content" from time to time, because they yearn for progression raiding  / loot competition from other games.

Well, I counted arcs and badge missions.  I suppose I could pull up the wiki and look up how many missions each arc has, but that sounds like more work than I am willing to do.  😁

 

Any idea when that HeroCon was?  Because a lot of content gets added every year.  I know it's not precise, but it's a nice marker.

While I haven't done it on Homecoming (just don't have the time), making AE missions is a lot of fun and its own type of content. If you ever feel bored with the game, start making up your own stories.

I missed their first HeroCon, because it took me a few weeks to make my way to the forums when I started playing the game but I attended all the HeroCons and Meet'n'Greets after that. Could have been the one in 2011.

Well so far I've only written 21 AE arcs but that's 103 missions.  So I reckon that the in game content could be 10,000 actually.

i started my "solo every mission from every contact red/blue/gold" with my Dark Dark Corruptor (currently 34) on Mar 9.  now, i work full time and also do other things.  so, in almost 4 months i have completed all contacts and every single mission they offer that must be done 1-29. all blue 30-34, and starting red 30-34.  anything 30-50, or 30-39 will be done later.  

 

i have done some teaming, almost every tf/sf/trial that is available based on level (missing a tv2) and random badging and fun stuff on teams.

i know there are some missions i have missed, when a 30-34 contact has 1-2 missions to give only to 30-32.  F-ing blueside....   but i have tried to get every single mission, not just story arcs.  on "endless" contacts i do enough to turn the status to "kindred", then move on.  i believe i have done about 99.9% of available missions, but i know i have done 99%+ of them.  it may only be 99.7% though...

 

I have just started red 30-34, have all 35-39, 30-39, 40-44, 25-50. 30-50 etc, and all 50 content to go.  there are almost 200 contacts in my sheet to go.  80%+ offer a large number of missions.  some depressingly large.  not on my list but probable in the future are pvp zone missions, and the SSD, WWD arcs.  there are, if you could meticulously track them all, probably 5-10,000 missions in the game.

I don't know if you have them counted - but the HEATS have their own contact that provides arcs every 5 levels. Arguably the better reason to play a HEAT. And I think the VEATs have the same kind of set up. These arcs don't show up for non heat/veats in ouro.

Yes, but over 9000 of those missions are in the layer cake cave map.

This is thankfully untrue.  
 

But, …. A GREAT many of the “over 10k missions” are “hunt 20 of X”.  A large number of them are “kill all” on maps we know very well.  (Or you will if you attempt doing all 10k…).  
 

Gold has some cool tricks. Most i honestly do not like, some are very nice.  But Gold as a whole I do not enjoy due to the political emphasis.  The stories are well told, and if I could run it as unaligned somehow my hatevmight dissipate.  Or at least be assigned there by Kalinda as some deep spy…
