You'll note I asked questions about it, as well. Granted, you've answered one of them, somewhat, in later posts. I think you're making assumptions and asking for something that really isn't needed. Right now I have the *option* to add damage into my taunts (and yes, I think adding it to Gauntlet would be absolute overkill.) I'm not *as* concerned about it breaking sleep - when I'm using sleeps, most of the time it's to shut down problematic enemy powers (-tohit auras and dispersion bubbles come to mind,) which aren't immediately available to the NPC even if they're woken right away. Where are you getting the idea "Taunt is skipped in many builds?" Forum builds that are around to min/max? Farm builds? I wouldn't draw that conclusion based on them - I know I take it on pretty much every tanker and brute I make because it's a useful tool, and will use it frequently. I typically have plenty of other sources of AOE (and just damage in general) - if I felt my tanks (or brutes) needed yet more damage, I'd probably be talking about a specific set. If you want taunt to do illusory damage for flavor or a concept, I'd say suggest it as an IO set.

Agent Watkins arc - ethical compass discussion (arc spoilers)
Greycat replied to Techwright's topic in General Discussion
Well... bluntly, we use research (using that term... loosely, at times) that was basically obtained via torture, infection, etc. all the time. Gynecological information obtained by "research" on african american women, altitude/vacuum chamber information, the results of - I forget what they were called, but I'll call them "plague camps" run by the Japanese during WWII and more. Heck, you can call some *legitimate* (for the time) procedures and research unethical and/or horrific. Use the research, but very *much* keep its history and its victims visible. They go forgotten far too often, and to me, just destroying and throwing out the research is throwing the victims out as well. -
That would be because the original post was gibberish, with a completely unrelated title. What does "Pride" have to do with anything? Then you started with "Taunts do illusion damage that heal over a set time." My reaction on reading this was "Um... no, they don't, what are you talking about?" You followed with "higher enemy rank, more illusionary damage," which had the exact same result. "More taunt slotted, more damage" isn't even a full sentence, and doesn't clarify anything. If anything, it sounds like you might be referencing some COH server other than Homecoming. "Now I just want this to apply to taunts. But having it to apply to punchvokes might be ok but might not. " Goes back to "WTH are you talking about?" Just having a *meaningful title* - such as "Add illusion damage to taunt" instead of "Pride" would have set a groundwork for people to approach the suggestion from. Instead we got the equivalent of : "Mayonaise: Scrapper noodle stick wallaby. Energy! Peanut butter and jelly. Brawl." ... and you getting in a snit because nobody could figure out what you were talking about. It doesn't matter where it was posted *if it makes no sense.* As for the suggestion itself, of taunt (with or without Punchvoke) doing illusory damage, I'd have to ask: 1. Why? Tanks aren't hurting for damage, and 2, why this *sort* of damage (the whole healback thing is *annoying as hell* to me.)

That kind of defeats the reason for ignore, especially if they ignored the person because they were being harassed, or the person being ignored throws out slurs or other comments that really bother that one person. What action can they take? Leave the team that would otherwise be fine - or worse, the league? Given the number of people on the server, the number of things that could criscross as far as who ignores whom ... just kind of sounds like a pain. Not their business, I'd say.

And here I wrote up an entire Kheldian backstory guide. (Also available on the wiki.) They have no special tie to the well, nor are they from another universe (unless you're taking a Praetorian point of view.) They're their own species entirely. Kheldians do not get stronger with every host/incarnation/whatever. They have more experience, sure, but they're not "stronger" and aren't "reincarnating." Their body is not "astral," their native form is pure energy. Kheldians started joining with hosts because they could *live longer* than their otherwise very short lifespan (by human terms.) They do also extend the life of the host. The typical Kheld lifespan is 10 years. Shadowstar, by living through multiple hosts (at some point passing down through a family, which the current Shadowstar is part of and which her daughter Lillian will take up later) has been around since some point in Ancient Egypt, several thousand years ago.

They mentioned this was client side, so my *guess* is that unless (say) "Loading the second Levantra mission (saving longbow squad) is causing frequent crashes" comes up, it'll mostly be for capturing data when someone's going "My game's doing weird things nobody else is seeing" or "I always crash here."

yeah, had to update my shortcut to https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/

Had someone ask about this in help - they were using lightning clap and it was knocking stuff back (as it does.) They were looking at the power description at the bottom - where it shows: 50% chance for 1.0 mag stun for (time) on target.) 30.78 fire damage on target - only using fiery embrace. (So far so good.) 2.00 mag stun for 9.54 on target (only using fiery embrace) 4.15 mag knock on target (only using fiery embrace.) So they were getting confused as to why it was knocking stuff around, as they don't have FE. They asked about it in help, and most people regardless of AT (including on my Corr) saw the same thing - probably want to clean up or clarify the description, esp. with the "knockback" up top as well.

Yeah, you're kind of unclear with what you're asking for. Are you asking for an illusion armor set, with a taunt that does damage? Are you asking for Taunt to do Illusionary damage (which... drives me up the wall on Illusion, personally) ? (Complately unsure what "Pride" has to do with it....)

I know it is, given the appearance of one by someone who doesn't have a racist bone in their body. We see them occasionally (they're only in game once in a while) at the Cape show Thursday nights.

So, nothing is paid for now, so the "prizes" have been reallocated and the badges repurposed. There was the (old) "VIP Access" (even before the game went "freemium") that gave access to the Tiki Lounge in Pocket D. Since that's open to everyone, you get that badge after spending an hour in Pocket D. The veteran badges were awarded while paying for a subscription (or having done so) to unlock certain things... which, again, there's no subscription, and most of anything that could have been unlocked is now at the P2W vendor, or already part of the costumes, or which ever they awarded. I mean, you can refer to this: https://archive.paragonwiki.com/wiki/Veteran_Rewards_Program and going through the items listed as being rewards? They're *all* either: - Available in P2W (blackwand, temporary pets, etc.) - Available costume items by default (trenchcoat, wings, etc.) - Available in the base editor, - irrelevant (another character slot... but we have 1000 per server per account) - or otherwise available (respecs, for instance - you get every 10 levels, or can buy, on top of earned ones through trials.) The badges themselves have been repurposed - most of them for names of badges you get every 3 Veteran levels. Of those, the ones not tied to a VL are: Trustworthy - now an exploration badge for visiting the artifacts behind Azuria in Atlas Battle Hardened - epxloration badge in Cimerora Tried and True - Exploration badge in Omega Team Memorial, Atlas Park (city rep and dr khan.) City Traveler - Exploration badge, monorail, atlas park (Edit: echo:atlas park.) Loyal Customer - Badge on completing Market Crash.

So this does two slightly different things. On live, if you have no battlecry and hit F10, you get the animation and "Unknown command: send." On beta, it points and gives an error of "Incorrect format: (Command synonyms: try /say, /local, /s, /l ) " I don't recall it giving any sort of error back on live if you had nothing in there, but I don't think this should be throwing an error just because you don't have something set up for it.

Previously Undiscovered Key Names for Binds
Greycat replied to BlackSpectre's topic in Tools, Utilities & Downloads
*Can* RWIN and LWIN - much less enter/return - be rebound? I could see those being problematic. The wheelplus and wheelminus may be pre-set to zoom in and out. F13, 14 and 15, I think we'd need someone with a Mac keyboard to check on (otherwise there *are* ways of rebinding other keys... unless someone has an ancient 24 F-key keyboard to check on...) Edit: Did a quick test with LWIN on ... well, test. (Just a /bind lwin l Hello There.) It does put out the text, but also brings up the WIndows menu, so if you want to use these, you'll have to disable that... I don't know if the keyboard switches some KBs have - usually for "game mode" - physically disable the switch or just remove its "Bring up the Windows menu" programming. On my Corsair KB, it renders the switch completely non functional.) (Edit 2: Works on a Mac keyboard, as expected, with no impact at all that I can find on a PC kb without something previously mapped to call itself "F13" or the like.) -
The flip side of "there'll be more and more" (given how this hasn't really changed...) is that ... it hasn't really changed and is *lacking* useful information. Maybe come up with the options and let people select what they want to search / sort by. If they want "ALL THE THINGS!" they can add all the things, if they want a few sort features and INF, they can have just that, etc. More work, granted. But the customizability may just make it even more useful and appreciated.

There have been a lot of requests for tweaks/changes/more info on the character select screen. I don't know how hard they'd be - given this is just looking up a number that doesn't care about what zone you're in, etc. it might be on the easier side, but... well, spaghetti code. Fingers crossed on a character select screen revision in general though. One of those things that was long overdue even on live.

Paragon/Rogue/Praetorian/Official Critter Themed Masterminds
Greycat replied to VashNKnives's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I'd say it's probably a mix of (a) them being a *lot* more work than a regular powerset, and (b) a bit of being side specific/lore tied, etc. versus somewhat generic "beasts," "thugs" "Ninja" etc. -
Mod Suggestion: Billboards of CoH/CoV
Greycat replied to Herotu's topic in Tools, Utilities & Downloads
Hmm. Didn't the old live forums have a contest for billboards and stores at one point, too? I don't recall when, though.. given (a) the wayback machine and (b) the copy of the old ones someone has floating around, I'm sure the info's in there, too... at least what they requested for us. THAT SAID... talking about it as a mod would mean only you'd see them, if you're replacing textures. With mention of costume contests, SG advertisements, etc (which themselves would be server specific,) something woul dneed to be submitted, approved and put in serverside, I'm pretty sure. -
Yeah, I specify mine, because I always put them in a c:\binds directory (sometimes, like with lyrics, in a subdirectory.)
-
Well, not "every other," just most... but there are (IIRC) Incarnate-ish Family which might be useful for this. And yeah, I have at least one character this would be good for as well.

Do you still have your old installation? Look in the install folder under "Accounts." You'll have your user names under there.

How to Improve the Help Window in Game?
Greycat replied to BlackSpectre's topic in General Discussion
Honestly, the Help menu's been outdated even on live. It's somewhat sparse in areas, I don't think parts of it were updated or updated in a timely manner... yeah. Pointing at the proper chats, an FAQ, some common references (base editing controls, for instance) with outside links probably is the best. -
I can't think of names I wouldn't use, short of copyrighted / offensive... which are covered in the various agreements anyway. *points at list of alts, with things like I want my mummy, sweet child o'mimes, bill of wights....*
